The more I play of this game, the more I enjoy it. The bosses take entirely too many hits but it doesn't take away from the game for me. Optional side quests add boss/mini-boss battles to boot. Definitely worth picking up for those of you who enjoy the genre.
Yeah, I hit my groove in this game, and enjoying it more than any of the Dark Souls.
Whoa, whoa... let's not get crazy here. This game is a technical mess compared to Dark Souls, way more shallow in terms of design and atmosphere, and 1/5th the length (at least).
This turned out better than it had any right to, but I don't know that you're thinking rationally there.
It's sort of like Destiny for me. I know it's inferior in almost all aspects, but I like the flow of the core gameplay so much I can look past that.
I'm fighting the final boss and I do like it more than DS2, which I didn't enjoy enough to finish. I get lost in my time playing this game and those type of games are why I always loved video games in the first place.

:lol: Fair enough. I think the biggest problem Dark Souls 2 faced with me was the fact that I played through and finished part 1 (one of my all time favorites) for the first time right when DS2 got released. Love it or not, DS2 is half the game that the original was.
I didn't finish either Dark Souls or II, though I did finish the Demon one. Dark Souls because it felt like a terrible grind near the end, and II I got to Iron Keep and decided to say fuck this game.
There was a sense of fear and dread in the original that was sorely lacking from part 2.
I could probably make a list of fifty things that Dark Souls does better, but I'm enjoying the actual playing of this game a whole lot more. I think I'm coming up on the second boss and I'm really enjoying the variety of weapons and abilities, even if they can be abused at least as much as they can in DS.
I'm also glad I waited to play since I haven't encountered a single glitch or crash yet. Hooray patches. Still a little wary about turning that nVidia Turbulence thing back on since that was the supposed reason it performed so badly in the first place, but I might roll the dice in a little bit.
