Breath of Fire has officially been tossed into the Lake of Fire.

This might be the only series Capcom makes that I haven't played. Thanks for confirming that decision, Capcom!
I don't know if a bad sequel retroactively makes the other games bad automatically.
yoshi logic
Now you're playing with power.
Nah. The first two are pretty aged, but after that they're at least interesting. 3 drags, 4 really divides people (i think it's the best of the first 4 though), Dragon Quarter jettisoned half the fan base and didn't attract much of a new audience but it's a GREAT progression of the completely different genre of dungeon crawlers.
They're all good, but it might be hard to attract new fans for the series. I'm sure they had some generic weeaboo social rpg for phones and decided to slap a Breath of Fire label on it.
There's no Ryu, no Nina, the races are off (i guess the wolf dude could be from the Forest Clan, but they're all just really generic furries and the BoF series has established furries), the monsters are off. Everything that makes a Breath of Fire a Breath of Fire is missing, so the decision to slap the name on this shit is baffling. I mean, i know that no one behind this decision has any experience with the series, but still you'd think they'd throw a few bucks towards someone that did. The BoF series was supported entirely on its fans, and pissing them off so blatantly is just killing the sales of this thing.
I'd say the original is super simple and super boring, straight up JRPG. The sequel had the worst translation known to all mankind. From there on they're good.
You guys are taking this better than this guy at NeoGAF.
LOOOOOL what
i can't wait for the quote from some guy at capcom saying that they're using this game to gauge interest in the series and you should buy it so they make a real sequel!
