The Eagles admitted they let the foot off the gas, because they wanted to control the clock. Hence, them going Huddle in the later parts of the 3rd quarter and on. Expect them go full bore for a full game from now on.

During Spring Training and even now. They run 4 plays in 1 minute. This is under the auspice of no rules about re-spoting the ball. Meaning in a real NFL game the Ref require 18 seconds to re-spot the ball and get the players to the line. In Camp ... they didn't have that restriction. Thus, in the players mind ... they are slowing their game down. Kinda scary.

I don't know if I believe all of that. That might be a half truth. Philly was on the field more in the first half because Washington couldn't do squat on offense. Washington started executing their offense in the second half and when they stay on the field that keeps Philly from doing anything on offense. Plus, I don't think Chip Kelly wants to show everything to the League in the first game of the season.

I will say this, Philly is REALLY FAST. And I'm not talking about tempo. They have a freakin' track team at their skill positions. Holy shit. I can only imagine what the offense would be like with Maclin in the lineup. McCoy will be a beast this year. The moves he made to evade a couple Washington defenders on that long run in the first quarter made me lol. Thought I was watching a game of Madden.

I'm arguing with someone that with all these coordinator, coaching and player changes; not to mention it's happened against so many different teams and we've done it more than anyone else over the last two years, that Rivers is the only piece that's never changed and just might be responsible for us losing all these games where we lead dramatically.

He's saying defense and running game are bad and that's all there is to it. The exact same result out a different system isn't odd. Also the very specific nature of our defense and offense falling apart as the game goes on regardless of who pills the strings or is playing doesn't strike him as suspect either.

Am I taking crazy pills or is it totally possible that the guy deciding where the football goes every play when it leaves his hands, and the guys who should be rallying the team, might just not have the same fire 45 minutes in as he does 5?

It depends on how you look at it. Rivers is not in the class of Rodgers, Brees, and Manning. Those are the only three guys in the league that have proven they can win a Super Bowl with a severely flawed team. But, given the same supporting cast on both sides of the ball, I think he'd be just as successful as a Ryan, Eli, or Flacco.

Humans are going to be human, so being all rah-rah at max level for 60 minutes just doesn't seem possible unless you're coked up. Game adjustments are all on the coaching staff, not the player. A player just executes what's called by the coaches (unless your Manning).

Case in point, look at how bad the Redskins defense was in the first half of last year compared to the 7-game winning streak that took the division. That was all Haslett making the adjustments (some of them were series-to-series!) coupled with some improved play by his defenders (which you could argue was a result of the scheme).

Same thing applies to offense. I mean, just look at how SF utilized Boldin. He's not a burner, but he's being put in a place to succeed because the coaches know how to create an effective scheme for his talents.

If anything, you could argue that the Chargers didn't make the necessary adjustments, but Houston did and that's why they won.

The question is, do you think if Eli, Ryan or Flacco was our QB we'd still have the record last season for most blown leads? Would we have started this season by losing after leading by 21 points in the second half?

I'd argue that it's not likely. We'd either lose outright more or keep our leads if we didn't have long strings of three and outs in the fourth causing our defense to get ridiculously tired.

I'd argue that the Fauxans just suck a little bit less.

Yes, because the QB position isn't as important as most people think it is, and the middle of the pack QBs are interchangeable.

This is the part where I'm still looking for answers though.

If that's the case, why is our team still having the same problems even with all different parts? I mean, blowing leads is very specific, why are we still doing that better than any other team even with all the coaching and player changes? What are the odds?
