Where's the ps4 and One option?
I might get a new HTPC next year (NOT a Steam Machine) but I'm skipping both consoles for a while. I'll probably get a One when Halo 5 comes out.
All three. The two consoles at launch and the PC depends on the quality of the new Radeon cards and drivers.
I will eventually purchase a couple new parts for my PC and both consoles. I doubt any of that is happening this year.
I'll pick up a Wii 1, just got a maaaaybe working PSP for $5 at a yard sale. Hanging back one gen for most things does just fine and has particular advantages.
I'll stay semi current on PC games.
Video games!
I update my PC when need be, but consoles aren't on my radar this year. Haven't bought anything at launch since the DC.
I have not bought a new console since NES (technically pops bought it). I kind of want to buy a 1st run PS4. Am I wrong?
In the original poll I was the one who picked the X1.
My opinion hasn't changed. I probably WILL wait for a bit to pick it up though. Not because of price, but because of Titanfall.
I kinda want a Wii U more than any of 'em. Maybe a Steamer, too.
I still have my PS4 and Xbox One pre-ordered from Amazon, and I plan on keeping those pre-orders. It appears that my Wii U and 3DS are going to get the most playtime this fall though. If Super Mario 3D World is anywhere near as good as Super Mario 3D Land, for the 3DS, then there may be no reason for me to even turn on the PS4 and Xbox One this Fall/Winter. The new Zelda for the 3DS is also going to take up a huge chunk of my time.
My PC is in a constant state of yearly upgrading so I didn't vote for that.
Getting the PS4, I have to support Sony doing things right from the very beginning. Also the last two generations both ended with me having larger Sony libraries and better memories of the system. Xbox 360 has left a really sour taste in my mouth with it's relative lack of quality exclusives over the last three years, the terrible dashboard changes that turn every page into ad riddled bullshit and even though I don't currently use either Live is just terrible compared to PS+ in terms of value.
I'll keep on using my PC whenever a game I want to play is available on it. Both consoles will eventually have exclusive games that I'll need to play, so I'll get those too.
Nothing at launch and probably not even for a few years.
I have a huge backlog of games to keep me busy on top of doing some achievement/trophy hunting when I'm in the mood for it. Out of the 3 I'd most likely get a Wii U/PS4 systems first given that the Wii U's exclusives are finally building up and PS4's price provides a less harsher barrier of entry on the wallet. However if the Xbox One has a killer line up of games within the first two years I may reconsider although I'd still be inclined to wait for a price drop and slimmer version of that thing.
I have ZERO interest in next gen right now, especially a Microsoft launch console (never again). While everyone runs to the new consoles, I'll be busy beefing up my 360/PS3 library and playing 3DS. Once I feel satisfied that the next gen consoles don't implode after a year and the games are right, I'll probably buy a PS3, but it won't be for at least a year.
Day 1? Nothing.
Eventually? Everything.
Considering the business I am in, it's hard to say no when shiny new hardware is staring at you. In the end though, it's a fight between completely uninteresting libraries vs. that new car smell.
I'm very happy with the PC I built a couple months back. I'm fine giving up hard copies when the games are cheaper than physical and my graphics card can make them look better. The modding community also helps.
Considering I didn't pay for my 360, I don't see myself paying for a new console anytime soon. Shit I didn't really even pay for my xbox either.
Not a damn thing for now.
But later? PS4 in maybe a year, and Xbox One on a cold day in hell. No need for a new PC soon. Quad core 3.2 GHz + GTX 580 still can take anything I throw at it quite well- by the time I think of upgrading, the GTX 980 could be ready. Vita and Vita TV come before a new console/PC at this time.
Right now? Nothing, unless you count the Wii U (which I don't.) Eventually, probably a PC or Steambox, depending on how that works out. I can see myself buying a PS4 eventually when it's below $300 and has some good exclusives, and I can't see me buying a Xbone ever.
I just don't get enough out of my consoles anymore. All I have from the current gen is an XBOX360 Arcade system, and I only bought it because it was on sale for $99. I've spent about as much on games for it, but I've only used it for maybe 100 hours in the last three years.
I'll upgrade to a proper PC at some point in the next couple of years, but I may never get another console or handheld.
If the Wii U sees a massive price drop and and a bundle with games I want, I could make an exception, but I'm not spending $300 on a console that will only ever see a handful of games.
I voted nothing because PS3 isn't an option.
ouya kiddin'
You're getting an xbone so you can watch TV?
PS4 at launch. May just flip it. Meh.
Right now? Nothing. Gonna play through my backlog on 360, 3DS, PSP, and PC.
If Titanfall turns out well I'll buy a One.
I might grab a PS4, but my PC is just as powerful and already has a retarded huge library, so i'll probably wait to see how the exclusives stack up and what my friends get.
Just upgraded the old Core2 to an i5 with 16Gb RAM. Catching up on old (3-5 years) PC games I missed. Current gen consoles can suck it. The next gen can call me in two.
Neither system has enough exclusives to warrant picking one up. I'm hoping to build a decent gaming rig by the end of the year, and that'll likely remain my sole platform (excluding handhelds) from here on out.
I'm keeping my PS4 preorder. If prices go nuts on the road to Christmas I probably won't keep the system, though.
Holy shit you're right, hahaha.
I'm in the process of building a new PC.
I want Xbox One for Killer Instinct and PS4 for Guilty Gear: Xrd. I guess I'd need one of the new consoles for Destiny. I'm really just wanting GG and Destiny to go to PC. It's pretty irritating that they aren't at this point.
I think the hatred is reserved for the people who buy up a significant number of systems with intent to resell, and are keeping it out of the hands of people who want it. Same goes for retro games. If you buy and play old games you're never going to leave a deal on the table, and then you'll use it as barter or cash in on eBay to buy other games you want. The hated people are the resellers who don't play games and just use it as a business.
True dat. Except for SSJN, he gets a free pass since he hooks a motherfucker up.
Well he's been into games since forever so he's exempt.
My hatred has a lot of conditionals.
I hate SSJN.
It would bother me if you were indifferent.
I have both preordered, and I'm going to most likely cancel/resell one either the PS4 or Xbox One, but I haven't quite decided which one yet.
I don't have anything pre-ordered, so I expect not to find either before the holidays. One's launch games seem more appealing to me, though.
None of the three for me this November. I'm good with my 3DS, Wii U, and 360.
I'd like to build a gaming PC (or get a Steam Machine?) next year, but that depends on available funds. Might consider the PS4 because of its $400 price, but I don't have any interest in Sony development other than The Last of Us-Naughty Dog, and I don't want to invest in the Playstation ecosystem instead of Steam.
I do want to play Destiny next year, but maybe the 360 version of that will suffice.
PS4 (and Wii U, lol) some time next year, maybe an Xbone at some distant point in the future when the price has come down, you can get it without a Kinect, and there are a few exclusives (that actually stick as exclusive) that I just have to have.
I'm too old for all these game systems, chocobo.
but if BG&E2 comes out for something i'll never own, i'll be sore about it and say it deserves its undoubtably poor sales, but i'll cry into my pillow not secretly.
XBox here.
TV
Sports
Dat controller
Forza
Killer Instinct + MadCatz stick
Also, haven't kept a system on Day One ever, so I'd like to have me some fun doing just that.
I'm getting an X1 for the NFL and Fantasy sports.
The added bonus of seamless transition from TV to Games makes it more awesome.
Plus, like I said the potential for what is to come.
hint: Comcast and MS still partners in this. Motorola's deal for providing cable boxes are up for renewal soon.
I'd love an NFL subscription pkg similar to League Pass that let's me watch every game on my Xbone.
I'd pay quite a pretty penny for that.
high five
This looks so similar ....
I have a Wii U and a pretty powerful PC, I also have a PS4 pre-ordered.
I think I'm going to be catching up on PSP/Wii/PS3 stuff while you guys are playing tech demos this December. I don't mind this a bit.
Maybe something cool will come out for the 3DS, too! These are exciting times.
yellerdog excitign stuff comes out for 3ds everyday
we can etrian odyssey explore
I think that Zeldar game has some kind of online functionality that they're not talking about yet. Maybe we can play that
I was way late to the crossing animal party. :(
I hear Shinobi's really good? I keep seeing that on sale for $10.
I'm still playing Animal Crossing! I actually just bought the digital version and transferred my save because i wasn't playing anything else with Animal Crossing permanently stuck in the 3DS.
You can do that?? (I might do that)
Yeah! There's a program you can download from the eShop. Look up save transfer. It only works for physical to digital though
I wish it were a back and forth save backup. My 3DS just told me my game card was removed after I opened my 3DS back up while it was on sleep mode. I'm worried about my town!
And Mr. Resetti yelled at me!
I will have enough points on my La Quinta returns card to get around $300 in Amazon gift cards. I'm going to use that to get another EVGA GTX 670 FTW! to sli with my current card. The PS4 can wait until next year.
I've get a lot of current gen games to catch up on as it is.
I'll keep using the ps3. Will buy a Rift asap however.
I canned my PS4 preorder this morning. I think I've known I would for several weeks, but I hadn't pulled the trigger. Considering a Steam Machine would save me ~$200 a year in duplicate purchases, that's a no brainer by comparison. It would pay for itself in two or three years. I'll take another look at the PS4 when The Order gets closer, we know what Naughty Dog is working on, or if their VR solution beats the Rift. I will easily be able to use credit card points to make it free by then too. That's what finally "sold" me a Vita too.
I think going into a system after the first or second price drop is the smartest move. By then there will be a large swathe of good and discounted games.
I don't know if that is going to happen this time around.
Well alternatively you can always go this route:

Punish your asshole. Win video games.
I have the money for an XBO set aside, but I haven't preordered yet. I probably will once it draws a little closer, unless I can convince myself that I want $500 worth of something else even more. Will probably grab another PS3 before I get a 4.
The preorders for the system have been sold out for a long time, I think that's what Chux was questioning.
Chux will gladly sell you his for $800.
Well, that just makes his decision easier, no Xbone day 1. He can spend the money on cheese instead. Mmmmm....cheese.
I think preorders are pretty saturated now. Not sure how many people are cancelling theirs though (probably not tons)
I must admit, I am leaning ever so slightly toward NOT getting these at launch because it makes the new PC purchase go down much better (I figure my PC budget is a bit higher than the systems and all the games at launch). But my friend recently told me he wants a system at launch after all, so I am holding onto them for that reason now, since I am not sure that I will get both fulfilled.
You can still get a preorder through some stores.
I really don't know how the demand for these systems will go. Everyone thought PS3 was going to blow up on eBay but it didn't. Turns out that like 75% of PS3 buyers were wannabe flippers. Is that true of PS4 and Xbox? Are people buying this thing to play it or flip it?
Only way I would flip it is if it was some substantial markup, which I would then turn around and buy another and buy more games. I want to play all the new shit.
There is no new shit.
Looks like plenty of shit to me.
I've got both pre-ordered, but I'm leaning towards nixing the PS4 pre-order since I mainly wanted Driveclub and that's delayed. Xb1 has more stuff I want to play this year, like Forza 5, Crimson Dragon, and LocoCycle. I've got free contest entries for both of them thanks to their respective contests - although it took for-fucking-ever to finally get PS4 codes mailed to me.
Next gen for me is PS4, Wii U, and PC. I still have my PS4 pre-ordered, though I have no games pre-ordered for it so yeah.
