MCC is fucking horrible. I'm so disappointed, and I'm only keeping it until the Halo 5 beta is over and that shit is getting traded in immediately. Such a disappointment.
Watch Dogs, AC Unity, Drive Club, Destiny, etc. might be buggy disappointing shit but MS just straight up lied about that game. Once I loaded up Halo MCC and tried to go online I felt like I was played for a sucker. Nothing since has changed my opinion. Not a good feeling when you've been supporting a company and their videogames for over 15 years.
I know the multi is broken but what was done with the rest is great! I really like the game. When I did get the multi to work with a party it was fucking great. Too bad by the time they finally get it fixed, nobody will come back. We still should all do a TNL custom game night.
Microsoft released two trailers today one for Locke:

And one for Chief:

Finally good to see at least some hints of what the campaign might entail, the Spartan suits look good and fairly accurate with the models so production value wise it's not cheap looking. Acting wise it's not all that great but hearing both their voices is also neat to hear and is a bit unlike typical Halo trailers.
I have a soft spot for these live action Halo trailers.
No matter the quality of the game, the build up to them is always incredible. ILB is the prime example.
I've seen this so many times on tv already. Makes you think it would be out soon and not the end of October.
Yeah they're going to really stretch out the lead up to E3 and then they'll go full speed post.
I hate posting anything Gamestop related (especially in this case since it's promoting pre-orders) but they put up a neat trailer for Agent Locke's Spartan IV armor abilities:

It goes a way too quickly so you might need a few viewings and freeze framing to get all of it. Most of this stuff you got a taste of in the Halo 5 multiplayer beta but it's neat to see it in 3rd person view and it's possible relation to the campaign which has been on complete lockdown much to my frustration.
The more of the campaign they don't discuss prior to release the better.
Yeah but we've not seen anything, not even screen shots. I get not wanting to be spoiled but I definitely want to see what I'm getting campaign wise.
Also box art revealed:

Two teams of spartans, Master Chief's Blue Team (Fred, Linda, and Kelly) seen in various other media and Locke's team whom are rumored to consist of Buck & Romeo from ODST who have been turned into Spartan IV's, and Macer from the Halo Nightfall series who probably underwent the same augmentations.
Anyone hunting dem signals? My team figured out the Gronfeld cipher really early and then hit a brick wall.
Nope
New info!

All dlc maps are going to be free. They have 15 planned. 343 says they are tired of online communities being split into the haves and the have nots.
Awesome, I'm tired of the bullshit split communities also.
Lots of cool stuff to look forward to with this game.
Sadly I only play MCC every once and a while but this looks to light the fire hopefully. Locke's team was also revealed to indeed have Buck but the other female characters are Holly Tanaka and Olympia Vale.
You're not a real Halo fan unless you have this.
Cool car.
E3 Demo:

This was neat, people have complained about it's scripted nature but I'm perfectly okay with that it'll be interspersed between various points of the game so.....same as it's ever been. Having Nathan Fillion back as Buck is great, it's kind of like seeing an old friend again and it'll be interesting to see how he'll interact with Locke given that he's the subordinate this time around. Locke himself looks cool but Mike Colter's delivery of his lines is rather wooden (and deeper in tone) compared to his character in the Halo Nightfall so I hope he opens up his range as the game develops. Oh yeah and Arbiter being back as well is awesome, love his character.
Graphically the lighting looks great and the character models look really good, resolution doesn't seem in the 1080 range but apparently it's going to be dynamic. I just hope the huge sandbox levels return because 4's weren't quite up to the level of the previous Halo's (although it looked beautiful). Warzone was also shown which looks like a lot of fun although I'm rarely on Halo's multiplayer these days, I may try it with you guys though.
All in all I'm really looking forward to this one, certainly my most anticipated holiday game.
Playing a little catch up here but a few weeks ago an awesome cinematic was shown here.
Today they released more gameplay from the Osirus team on Sanghelios:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57AD5inbKAs&feature=youtu.be
The game looks fantastic, it's running at a dynamic resolution to maintain framerate but I'm curious as to how low it'll actually go. I'm cool with them showing more of Locke's team since I really dig them but I want to see more Blue Team stuff as well just to see where they differ in terms of maybe move sets or team dynamic. My only problem so far is that Mike Colter's Locke has a wooden delivery, I don't know if it's done on purpose or what but the guy has zero personality.
I'd like to get through the whole series before 5. I need to get through 2, 4, and ODST. Halo 2, I don't know, not that great of a game. It just doesn't flow as well as the others. I know it's ridiculous to say 11 years later but it could have used a few more months of work (I think people were saying this in 2004 though). The graphical updates are nice but maybe a bit on the garish side.
Everyone online is a monster at this game. It's really tough. I was playing H2A multi yesterday and the final score was 50-7. I was on the 7 side of course.
The chatter between everyone is really nice. Reminds me of the Uncharted games.
Damn it, I'm all aboard the Halo hype train all of a sudden. Caught some gameplay footage on Twitch and 343 released the soundtrack today and it sounds awesome.
They're betting the franchise on this game. I think it's going to be tremendous. Possible GOTY.
I need an amazing game to get that bad Metal Gear taste out of my mouth.
Made the clan for RF.

This got pre-ordered for me as a present, so I'll be there to shit things up.
Yeah buddy
I'm in. (Evilmog on live)
I won't be on till the weekend though. Stupid work.
I'm in, too. I'm not sure why.
As long as all the patches get pre downloaded I will be playing at launch. I have the night off so I can game until dawn.
I pre-ordered this too and I usually don't do that with any game.
Can't wait to finally play it. Outside of the marketing I've been avoiding all the "first hour of gameplay" coverage websites have which is a little excessive IMO.
Other than the trailers, which have been more CG, less play, I'm going in dark.
I will join you sluts.
I'm in but I may not get the game for a few days.
I will probably play the story tonight. I work 3rd shifts until January so I'm only online for a few hours in the afternoon unless I have off then I try to stay up all night. Which happens to be tonight. Yay!
I will be on Friday night for sure! 12 player tnl war zone team!!??
I might jump right into war zone. I can only play like an hour or so
I think War Zone may be badass. It's pretty much Halofall.
Apparently when this was purchased for me the slowest shipping known to the US was used, so my copy won't arrive for a week or two. I could've sworn Amazon usually offered free/cheap release date shipping, but maybe it was overlooked.
Yeah Warzone is Halo Titanfall and it is pretty fucking rad. It even has cards. I got a scorpion tank one and beat the shit out of the other team with it. Me and another guy took from 11-2am to finally win a game though. Our team had no clue what was going on. Took me a while but I get it now. Attacking the enemy bosses nets huge points for your team. They are a must. I was going to legendary solo but fuck that. Lol. We tried legendary with two and it was tough enough. Those God damn hunters are an absolute terror now. 2 missions in only but I like it so far. Game looks pretty damn slick too.
Can I be in teh clan?
Yeah, just hit join
That sucks, why didn't you just go digital?
I'm down whenever, still getting used to the controls though.
I'll likely switch the control scheme around since doing ground pound with the R button doesn't feel right and same goes for clambering with A so I'll probably flip that configuration. So far I really like the game though, despite whatever graphical shortcomings NeoGaf likes to cry about it still looks really impressive given the framerate and the amount of enemies/characters on screen. The only thing that really bothers me is the 30fps animations, it sticks out more than anything else but otherwise it has fantastic colorful lighting, plays really smooth, and has excellent cut scenes.
I kind of have an obligation right now to beat the campaign with a friend of mine, but after that or when we can't get on at the same time I am down for MP. We'll probably be done with the campaign by Saturday, though.
Because someone else was buying it for me and got me the limited edition. Shouldn't really be complaining about the shipping anyway, it just struck me as weird. Although apparently by next week Amazon actually meant this week because it's supposedly arriving today. I no longer have any idea what they're doing.
They definitely nailed the multi here. Just did a dive into classic Halo (not war zone) and it was great. I remain a big fan of the H4 weapons but I wish they had that remote detonator thing. I placed in Gold in Slayer which sounds about right.
Bacon, Myk and I have been playing the campaign about an hour or so each night Tues, Wed, and last night and we're on mission 13 of 15.
The story is interesting, but this campaign is shit.
MP is my jam though, so it's cool.
how do you ground pound?
When you're in the air just hold down RB to aim it, then release.
What a disappointing campaign. Multi is incredible though.
I actually liked the campaign! Lol
The story was fine, it was just the lack of anything interesting gameplay wise.
It didn't even have the staple final level.
I found the campaign in Halo 4 completely forgettable and anti-climactic, so that doesn't really surprise me.
Reach is still my favourite.
I liked it about as much as 4. The vertical fight down the side of the Guardian was definitely the highlight. A bit overly linear and missing some of the stuff you expect from the series. Less wide open vehicle sections and that great sense of rolling up on two factions battling.
Played through the story and I thought it was fun. It's no Halo 3 but it's fine. Not enough crazy vehicle sections. Other than that it really kept me hooked. I don't see the hate. Looks great and the music is cool. All the weapons are fun and it plays great.
Multiplayer is still a shitload of fun. I just don't think people will stick with it. Destiny still has everyone hooked. Destiny's loot system is just too addicting. Also Black ops 3 is out on Friday. Halo had one nice weekend :(
The Trials of Osiris being the weekend that Halo came out was no coincidence. I'll be back on after they're over, and especially when BTB is put in.
I have no interest in Blops 3 after playing this multi, and Destiny is still bad.
I think H5 is really good, I just wish it had more maps.
I'm looking forward to some blops 3,but I will always jump into a halo game if I get an invite! Even MCC, it rules!
I wish there was some sort of horde mode and I don't like how basic and generic that most of the gun play feels. Being able to customize my basic loadout and not having to rearrange it every time I hit a certain req level would help a lot. Maybe I can and just haven't unlocked it yet? Also forgot how much I detest the Halo losing-scope-when-hit thing, this small thing might be what drives me away the most.
One thing that is amazing coming back from Destiny is being able to run across a room and not get stuck on four small rocks and two power cords. It definitely plays really smoothly which is great, I just wish the weapons felt different. Going to take me a while to get used to this again, I'm hilariously bad right now.
You aren't the only one shitty. I'm fucking terrible. I don't know why.
I don't think I am terrible right now. I'm only in Gold though.
This game is really great in MP (maybe best in series?), but it's really weird to play a Halo without some kind of Warthogs in Blood Gulch. BTB needs to hurry up.
There's a lot of factors at work that affect me. The aforementioned losing zoom when getting hit, less auto-aim than Destiny, more grenade spammy, smaller radar view, etc. It's also harder to learn from my deaths as they're happening because Destiny shows you that This Guy killed you with This Gun standing in This Spot, while Halo 5 just goes, "You died for some reason. Here's a tree to stare at."
I do love how the spartans all play like a striker titan with empyrean.
The assault rifle seems a lot better to me than I remember it being. I think I do way better with that gun than with something like the battle rifle.
Everyone is already bitching about how this doesn't play exactly like the first Halo game they played. I'm anticipating a big drop off although it makes me sad as I think it's really great. The Halo community, like the shmup community and others, has eaten itself.
The multiplayer is the best it's ever been. Mech is right though, it could take some lessons from Destiny.
I may stop for awhile. I need some Big Team Battle now.
I have gotten slightly better at this and am really enjoying it. I'm finding that I generally prefer the assault rifle and pistol combo over most other weapons, although the idiotic card system means I don't really use other stuff anyway unless I'm scavenging. The one time I rolled out a tank the game autopiloted it to park in front of an enemy tank before giving me control, thus giving them free reign to destroy it before I got a chance to do anything. Thanks, Obama.
It's because we talked about it last night.
I'd like to think so.
I kind of like that it's a rotating playlist instead of just a static selection. I wish there was a good halfway point between the REQ loadouts of warzone and the scattered pickups of BTB, but I guess that's what custom games will eventually be for. I like that the vehicles are more measured out in BTB (warzone matches where people are just spamming all their vehicle cards the whole time are irritating), but I miss my specialized BRs, SMGs, and guaranteed DMR spawn.
It's super weird how the game doesn't use any grass or anything to maximize visibility but has highly detailed models, so it looks both new and 15 years old at the same time.
If any of you guys want the DLC packs that come with the Master Chief controller or the Halo 5 Astro headset, PM me for them. I've had to get replacements for both of these items since I bought 'em so I now have two extra codes that I don't need.
Firefight! I will totally start playing again just for that. Grifball also looks cool.
I knew about Grifball, but not Firefight. That's awesome.
