Listen. Don't even play it. Chrono Trigger doesn't want to be played by people who want the "good enough" version.
That's actually a compelling argument. If I'm not willing to get the optimal version, maybe I don't deserve to play it.
Jesus Christ, buy the IOS version so that Square gets some money, then play any other version you prefer in another fashion.
I was going to say that too.
I wanted to say that Chrono Trigger wasn't that great, but when i think about it my knees turn to jelly and the words don't come out
Giving them revenue isn't the issue. I don't own a flash cart, so I couldn't pirate the DS version, even if I wanted to. I'm perfectly willing to pay for it on VC, PSN, or iOS, but all of those have significant flaws. MAYBE IF THE FUCKING VC GAMES WERE UNIVERSAL...
If your main argument against piracy is that you're depriving developers/publishers/copyright holders of income, then in that sense, what's the harm. Everyone wins.
I'm sure you own something portable that can play SNES games.
Or just buy and play any version. They're all Chrono Trigger.
Unless you bought and played pretty much every version as it was released (ahem), you're not going to know the difference anyways. Not everything needs to be "definitive." Some video games are just fine without a meaningless attaboy system telling you how good you are at video games. Just have fun.
This time spent splitting hairs is time wasted. You could be in the post-apocalyptic future by now.
You can play it on Wii U easily enough. Like it's two presses of the A button. Super NES games look fine, great even unless you're running it through some crazy RBG wizard device
