First you don't want to pay for other people's medical coverage, then you promote people getting hurt and needing coverage that could've been avoided which drives up costs. I don't get you sometimes.

And fuck people who wear seatbelts in cars, right? In fact, let's get rid of airbags and go back to metal cars too. Previous generations didn't need things like crumple zones.
I wouldn't take away seat belts, but I don't understand legislating to protect people from themselves. I would never go without one, but if some dumb fuck wants to fly through his windshield, he can be my guest. It's like the stupid New York soda bans on a grand scale.

Protecting people from themselves also prevents them from hurting others. Making it illegal to drink and drive also prevents sober people from getting hit by them. Someone flying out of a windshield can create a larger accident than it otherwise would've been.
More to the point, there's a gigantic difference betweenbook that was linked and not adhering to basic safety precautions. Parents who will rush out into kids-only easter egg hunts to ensure their child gets eggs over other children is not even remotely the same thing as having them wear a helmet while biking.
I still remember the end of little league games watching the parents of my friends go ape shit because of a dropped ball or missed shot. I guess that's the way you teach them there are "winners and losers" in society?
