That's the only part I remember really liking. But I don't think that happened until they were already a few years in.
I remember the Warren Ellis run being ok. Good Doom anyway.
I jumped on when he did. I left when he did. That run was fairly disappointing when compared to Nextwave which (i think) was the same time frame.
Fucking Ellis. He was my favorite author, but man. Do any other writers have as many half finished series as him?
I've always been drawn to the property thanks to the 90's cartoon and some of the early 90's Simonson FF but I got into it more seriously during the Scott Lobdell/Alan Davis Heroes Return run. Alan Davis's tenure was was a pretty short lived unfortunately but Salvador Larroca really put in the work for the book rarely ever missing a month and the series always had consistently great art teams.
The Waid & Hickman runs have been the best runs post Byrne (which was a solid run as well) with the Bendis/Millar/Ellis Ultimate FF following those but it never quite felt right. Even though it updated all the characters really well by making Sue part of the scientist team it lacked the heart of the 616 Marvel Universe FF and just got darker as the Ultimate run went on. I can understand why you'd think it felt more like a DC title though since it was very different from the other Marvel stuff and had a strong family angle.
Yeah that's among my pet peeves with his work, he kind of just does his thing and then leaves when he loses interest.
I want a nextwave movie
If Deadpool somehow does amazing business I'd bet we'll see one.
That's a tough one, because the target audience tends to only steal media.
