"Everything else on the market" is free or 99 cents. Seriously - check the average prices.

Okay, I guess I should have said "everything else on the market that is a 'real game' that people pay for".
I'm really not sure what your point is. There are plenty of successful paid games. They're usually under $10. The wildly successful F2P/99cent market doesn't suddenly make those games disappear.
It's worse than that. Almost 100% of it comes from the top 2%, and most of it from the top 0.15%. Basically, these games make money based on an incredibly small number of borderline retards with unlimited money who spend thousands of dollars a month on them. And while the idea of a product based solely on suckering rich kids out of their money makes me smile on some level, I would like to have some real games, too.
it would make me smile if it was suckering rich kids out of their money and it went to someone other than rich assholes.
The only SE game I've played on iOS that's retarded with microtransactions is All the Bravest, which is a terrible game anyway.
I hope this game uses a similar control scheme to the one Secret of Mana's port got, which is surprisingly playable on my phone.
Also HOLY SHIT HIROKI KIKUTA.
cool music at least, really evocative of SoM
As an exec of a major mobile games company, one thing I stress about F2P is respecting the consumer. If you have IAPs and loops that don't offer value to the user then it is trash.
