Update: the playback speed was fine for 7" singles and super-light 12" records, the belt chokes hard on 180 gram vinyl. Husker Du sounded underwater.
Considering exchanging it for a sealed one (or getting a refund)-- straight to eBay if it gets swapped out.
Just clip out the panels of this and glue them to a better player's dust cover.
