Another good reason for video games to become strictly digital in the future. Less waste.
There are a bunch of issues in ET that make it far worse than it really should be. Chief among them is that ET's whole sprite is used for pit collisions. This makes moving him around the environment far more frustrating than it should be, and also directly causes the notorious fell-back-into-a-pit-you-just-left loop. It's far from the worst game ever as it stands, but I think it could have actually been good with just a few modifications.
I bet it would actually make some money if they put it up alongside the documentary. Throw in a dipswitch to fix the more grievous bullshit, $$$
Apparently the upcoming Angry Videogame Nerd movie currently in post-production features a plot centered around digging up the ET carts in the desert. What timing for them.
