Cut down entire legions of enemies as Link, Zelda, Midna and other characters from The Legend of Zelda franchise using over-the-top powerful Dynasty Warriors-style moves. This tour de force through the beloved locales of Hyrule will have players battling some of the fiercest enemies in The Legend of Zelda history. Two players can play local co-op, with one player joining with the Wii U GamePad controller and another with the Wii U Pro Controller or Wii Remote + Nunchuk controllers (additional accessories are sold separately).
FEATURES:
The delicate balance of the Triforce has been disrupted and Hyrule Kingdom is once again being torn apart by a dark power, this time led by Sorceress Cia.
Heroic Link carves through a huge onslaught of enemies as he executes flashy moves with combat attacks. This also marks the first time that many other iconic characters from The Legend of Zelda franchise are playable for any length of time, including Princess Zelda, Impa and Midna.
Protect and reclaim recognizable landmarks from multiple games in The Legend of Zelda series, including such classic areas like Hyrule Field and the Palace of Twilight.
Push back armies of classic enemies from The Legend of Zelda, as well as powerful enemies making their debuts in Hyrule Warriors.
Advance the story to unlock new playable characters, each with unique moves and weapon types. Collect Rupees and other useful items to upgrade weapons and craft badges, which players can use to bolster each warrior's abilities.
Two warriors are better than one: Battle armies with a friend using local co-op mode, with one person playing on the TV and the other on the GamePad, providing each player with his or her own screen.
-August 14th
-Retail - 7,980 yen, eShop - 6,980, Premium Box Set - 11,664

-Developed by ωForce, Team NINJA, supervised by Aonuma.
-Story is Link an in-training soldier must rescue the Princess Zelda from the witch Shia who has been turned evil somehow.
-2 player mode where one person is on the GamePad, while another is on the TV. When playing alone the GamePad acts as a menu.

-Musou action combined with the Zelda series' Z-targeting means you can avoid attacks and focus on enemy weak spots.
-Zelda series' spin attack appears instead of the Musou Ranbu (?) of the musou franchise.
-Bombs make an appearance, won't just be used for throwing at enemies.
-Impa, a captain of the Royal Army, appears as a playable character wielding a giant long sword.
-Several other characters are playable too. Aonuma was surprised by how many.
-Playable at E3.
-Development is 70% complete.

Doesn't this release date match up with some leaked E3 doc that everyone thought was fake? Unless this information isn't necessarily "new" to the eastern media. But hey, a man can dream about that Platinum Star Fox.

I like how the teaser trailer from December shows more gameplay than most full game trailers.

This doesn't look like a game I'd want to play at all (not big on Dynasty Warriors!), but the license does make me go hmmm.

I am all about this. It's like they made a game just for me.

I guess now I know who actually buys all those Dynasty Warriors games.
Where is the Bayonetta 2 date?

Yoshi, Dynasty Warriors is good times. That being said, I don't see the need to buy more than one of them.

I got more than enough for a lifetime from a 360 rental and the Gundam demo on PS3.

Good enough! I got my fill playing one of the PS2 games at a friend's house. It was fun, but I never had the desire to own it.

They have a niche where they take a thing in media that people are geeks about, then make a passable, fanservice-y game for it. Gundam Musou and One Piece Musou are big on this. They make it pretty, give winks and nods, include a huge playable cast, and generally load it up with cool attacks, and then make the gameplay passable but hardly new or groundbreaking.
It could work for Zelda if there's enough playable characters and stages. Also look forward to the Zelda butt rock.

Some new pics, that's a lot of cleavage on that villain.
she has butt cleavage you just can't see it. in the game you can control how big and muscley her donk is so if you want her to have a huge ass, that's up to you
I wasn't interested in this at all but I have to admit, the latest screens are kind of cool.
I rarely play Dynasty Warrior games so provided it turns out well it could be a another notch for the Wii U's library and another tipping point to get me to buy one.

My first thought upon seeing her is that she's the witch Cia that is turned evil (in the much-discussed revealing outfit).

Is this the open world Zelda game they were talking about? This was not I was expecting.
I don't mind Agitha, if anything such a "deep cut" character is a good thing as it seems to indicate a fairly sizable roster... but please, no more OCs.
EDIT: oops, that was supposed to be edited onto the original post, not quoting it. It's my phone's fault! Yeah, that's it...

Yeah, it's not like they don't have a thousand characters to choose from already. Ashei, David Jr., and Crazy Tracy are next

Agitha as a playable character is amazing. Looking forward to seeing how she and Lana, who looks to be the character from the box art we were wondering about, plays.
Impa looks rad in that video Finch posted, and there's a new trailer featuring Princess Zelda:

i hope there's a dlc costume where it's the same but she wears a chintzy crown and a really gross necklace that says "SWAG"
They could populate the game with only Twilight characters if they wanted, though I hope they use other weirdos too.

Man. Twilight Princess was, even with the wolf crap, pretty much straightforward awesome. All the girls rocked, even the brawny Russ Meyer-style behemoth woman that was all over Link. Still love those models. But effing Dynasty Warriors...

Haha, yes. So good.
I only have that Samurai Chronicles 3DS game. I've somehow managed to not ever play any of the DW games or other spin-offs. Cutting through swaths of enemies and unlocking/collecting galore, all in the Zelda universe and with some of the more kawaii girls to boot.
Oh, I think I'll manage to enjoy myself.

The spinoff games tend to be more interesting than the mainline series. Omega Force seems to treat other publishers' properties with care; the Fist of the North Star, One Piece and Gundam Musous are all surprisingly fun.

That would be an excellent argument, except that I waited for the two most recent such games to be deeply, deeply discounted. Had the story from LoS not been compelling, I probably would have skilled them all together.

Hyrule Warriors AKA Zelda Musou (Wii U)
I have only played the demo for the first Gundam one... and it was kind of awesome. Never bought the full game but I wouldn't get the references anyway.

So far it's Link and 5 females? I wonder if people will still complain sexist somehow.
I wonder how many characters they'll go up to. I just looked up One Piece and it has 13. We'll probably see a Zora (prince from TP?) and a Goron, maybe a Gerudo from OoT. Nothing else comes to mind as obvious. Oh, Sheik I guess could work also. They seem to be sticking to the realistic looking games. Maybe a Spirit Tracks armor controlled by ghost Zelda?
