Nope.
I am all about a battlefield style shooter that doesn't have a military theme and setting.
I'm all about a new Battlefield 2142-style game.
Already got Payday. 2142 sequel please.
Haven't we been over this? They're not going to compete with themselves with a 2142 sequel.
Looks really fun, but calling it Battlefield just sounds wrong.
I'm sorry Changeling I can't hear you over Titanfall.
It is a deadman's game on PC. Nobody is playing it at all. Hard to find matches even on hardpoint. I agree that 2142 and Titanfall are similar at least in small-scale fights. 2142 excels in Titan mode which is large-scale assault the base gameplay with 64 players instead of Titanfall's skin over a COD game with ideas that Dice has done 8 years ago or so.
They're pretty different.
Trailer is down, dammit. I'll have to do some searching or wait till E3.
Titanfall isn't the closest self-competitor. Battlefront is.
I know that. I can also replace 2142 lust with Bad Company 3 lust. Neither is going to be made anytime soon, if ever.
Ah, I mistook your post for more of a prediction than a dream.
I'm all for it.
EDIT: Just watched the video. Fuck you EA, take my money cause this looks awesome! At it's core it is BF, but with a whole new twist and style of play. The single player looks like it could actually be decent (of course not holding my breath when it comes to BF single player, but at least this looks like it could possibly be good.) Of course it will have serious online issues the first week or 2, but I was still able to have tremendous fun with BF4 from the get go. Can't wait.
Yeah, the single player looked like an episode of my favorite TV shows.
Supposedly that video is six months old, so we'll see where it is now at E3.

Link to the vid for those who haven't seen it. It looks cool. Ziplines and grappling hooks remind me of BF2: special forces. Can't wait to see more(hopefully) at E3.
Is it a smaller team heist game... or still like 32 or 64 people?
Looks like it can scale from small to large. There were vehicles, both land and air. Like a larger Payday 2, which is on sale this weekend on Steam coincidentally... I may have to bite since it is supposed to be a lot better than the first, which I wasn't really into.
Signed up and received my PC beta invite today. I'll start downloading it tonight.
I just got my PS4 beta code.
I'm playing right now. Just kinda roaming around sniping for the time being. Seems pretty fun. Still needs a bit of tweaking to get it to feel as good as BF4 control wise, but it seems fun.
This looks fantastic.
It does not look like PC footage.
Game looks like soulless dick-vomit. First Battlefield I ever pass on. Way to go EA.
I feel like this game is coming out at a bad time politically. Cops are not soldiers and they aren't fighting in a war, no matter what Denzel told me in Training Day.
Yeah. I said that before when this was announced and then after Ferguson. EA won't delay it though which I guess is business, but shitty.
They were going to release it in October, which would have been a terrible look. Now I think they're just hoping that no cops get away with killing anybody from here until release.
I continue to think this sounds great. I especially am interested in the last two modes below:

That's pretty terrible for the consoles (particularly the X1) considering how many SDK updates there have been and the fact that this game had delays.
Should anything be a surprise after BF4?
Played some of the Beta last night, tried Hotwire mode, wasn't a fan. You lower the tickets by killing dudes but mostly by driving cars? Not even to certain destinations, just driving the cars for extended periods of time without being killed. So it just becomes a game of get in the car and drive in circles till someone kills you. Sometimes you can spawn in a helicopter while you try and shoot the cars. The actual shooting felt really off, but I haven't played a BF since 3 so I'm not sure if that's how it's "supposed" to feel. There are other modes to try in the Beta, but I don't want to.
I installed this last night, so I am going to give it a whirl tonight. I'm more interested in the SWAT and assassinations, so I hope those are in the beta.
This game looks like shit.
Battlefront needs to deliver.
I really did not like this beta. Can't get into the new game modes, vehicles rubber band all over no matter the server, it's pretty ugly, and it generally doesn't seem to offer anything BF4 doesn't (I think BF4 is a legitimately great game these days). Big ol pass.
I only played the Dustbowl arena so it was more like the usual Battlefield open area stuff but I didn't like it either.
Plus the graphics just looked chunky as hell so unless it gets some massive upgrade between now and it's release (which is highly unlikely) it's not going to be a good looking game. The only possible saving grace could be the episodic cop show style campaign since that looks kind of cool but given that it's using the same engine it still brings any interest for that down again.
Say what you will about the actual BF games, but being based off BF and coming out over a year later, how does this game suck so much?
It doesn't suck from what I played of it. I actually had a lot of fun playing the Hardline mode. Blasting fools with a shotgun while riding shotgun is great. If you don't like hardline you can still play conquest. Sure the graphics are not amazing, but it's far from shitty looking. You should definitely check it out.
For me its more the game mechanics, or just how it feels, that seem way off to me. It had been a while since I played BF4, but when I got the digital version and the cheap, I was able to jump in and run around in beast mode like I hadn't put it down. I play this and it just feels off.
At least the reload animations are fun.

Okay now I love this game.
Yooooo.
The only proper way.
Unfortunately, the three modes I'm most looking forward to aren't in the beta. However, I played several matches of Heist last night and thought it was pretty good. The map was very vertical, which allowed snipers to actually have an impact on what seems like a mode where they may not.
I like it so far. The Hotwire mode is fun to jump into by yourself. Battlefield sucks without a team usually.
I played the Conquest mode this morning and didn't like it as much as Heist. I think it's exactly what Mog said. Being a lone wolf with 64 players is not all that fun.
There was a lot of negativity in chat. It seems like a significant number of people think this should have been an expansion for BF4, which shows how much they value the single player effort. This is far more compelling for me than any of the previous Battlefields. It is also letting me dip my feet in the multiplayer pool before Battlefront. Since this is another $48 w/ $10 reward cert game from BBY w/ GCU, I'm pretty likely to go for it.
Heist = Too much emphasis on camping and sniping makes this level incredibly dull. 3/10
Hotwire = Who at Visceral thought that it would be fun to get motion sickness while trying to fire out the passenger seat of a moving vehicle the whole round? 1/10
Conquest = There aren't enough vehicles on this particular map, and the only interesting capture point on the level was the Hotel. 5/10
Overall rating = MEH/10
Just got my PC back up and was pissed that I didn't get to play this. Looks like it was a blessing in disguise.
I actually enjoyed it. It was something different and fast paced. Worked a lot better when people actually worked as a team and helped on another out. But it was rare. Lots of younger kids camping on heist is def. true.
Seriously. I had fun with the beta, and it didn't even feature the modes I'm most looking forward too. Conquest makes no damn sense in the game's context, but I'd definitely play more Heist and Hotwire once the people only playing it because it was an open beta go away.
well, no I was joking, it might be 3/10
I was just adding up the numbers ;o
I thought you were correctly making the point that you have to take the inverse of whatever jyoung says.
I have to agree with JYoung on this one. Game just isn't as good as BF4, though I do think the Heist map in the first beta was much better. Unless the SP is really great, I don't see paying anywhere near full price for this game.
What else was in the first beta?
Dicks.
I mean private investigators. Just kidding, I have no idea.
I think just heist, but it was a different map that I at least thought was a little better. Didn't really play much of it though.
Heist is the kind of mode that inherently promotes camping. Everyone's either sitting at the item spawn site or sitting at the item delivery site. Then when the items get shot down some place in between, everyone goes and camps that one point where they got shot down, because there's a huge, can't-miss icon on the map. That style of play gets boring real fast for me.
I much prefer shooter modes where everyone is constantly in motion and the attacks come at you from everywhere. Conquest mode could potentially deliver on that, if the other maps are larger, more open, and have more vehicles than the beta map did.
I need to make a decision on this pretty soon. I hope some reviews pop early.
Save your money, these games go on sale ALL of the time.
In my opinion, of course.
It's one of the bonus $10 reward cert preorder games at BBY. That's why I care about timing. That makes it effectively $38, since I'll use that cert on an Arkham Knight preorder if nothing sooner.
I'm going to wait on this game. After all the issues with BF4, a different team, and a premise that I don't really like, this will be the first "Battlefield" game that I don't preorder and buy at launch.
I'll mess around with it some, but it's hard to say how much. I actually had fun with the beta, and the one I was in didn't have the most interesting modes like the SWAT and assassination.
It'll probably come down to impressions of the single player side though in terms of when/if I buy it.
The developer matters more than the series. It took me too long to figure that out, but once you do, it's a whole new world.
I have been playing the trial and I like it so far! The trial lets you play a little of the story and it feels like its own game and not just an expansion. After the trial of the story ended, I wanted to keep playing.
Tried a few more of the game modes and I think I'd keep playing them besides the usual Conquest stuff.
Blood money- there's a huge stash of money in the middle of the map that both teams have to steal from and take back to their teams vault. The kicker is you can steal the money out of the other teams vault!
One other game mode only gives you one life and you either have to rescue or defend hostages.
Thanks for sharing that. Damn I hope reviews hit this weekend, but I'm doubting it at this point.
I've actually had a lot of fun with this. It's Battlefield but not. Had a good time playing Hardline with the bro cruising around in the death truck. Sabotage is also an amazing item to have to plant on various vehicles.
I wish I could of played more of the story. It's at least trying to be a little different with the whole cop thing. You can hold guys up by flashing your badge and there's some stealth stuff with Metal Gearish vision cones.
I wound up pulling the trigger on this at the last minute. I checked the balance of a gift card leftover from Christmas, and it had ~$40 on it, so my total with tax is $10.70, and I get a $10 reward cert. That's pretty tough to beat, especially when there isn't a lot coming to retail this year that I care about.
I have $40 in origin credit. Can I use that to buy the game on PSN for the PS4?
I started preloading the X1 version 2 hours ago. I'm at 26% right now :(
You might be able to get a physical copy through EA's store with it.
Unfortunately, the campaign does not sound spectacular through the eyes of either Eurogamer or PCGamer. It almost sounds as though you can make it respectable by playing on hard and forcing yourself to not treat it like the wild west, but the fact that the player has to put in effort to correct the design flaws is unfortunate.
The initial impressions from RPS are interesting. It sounds as though the single player is a rarity in that it's a AAA game that tried to bite off more than it could chew in the name of evolving a genre. You can tell by the fact that I keep posting other people's impressions that I haven't yet picked up my copy. I'm still not 100% sure I won't stroll into Best Buy to cancel it.
This game will be down to $40 in a month and will probably be $10 or maybe even free within a year. I see no reason to pick it up now.
Same. I don't play Battlefield for single player so unless the multi has real legs, I'll be sticking to BF4.
You never ever buy a BF game for the single player, and it frustrates me that they keep trying to tack on single player to a game that most people are getting for the multiplayer. Though, don't 2 different teams work on the single and online? Wasn't that the case with BF4 and BF3? Though, if they just dropped the single player, they could have a larger budget for the online only. Bad Company 2 was semi ok, but the online was still the main drawing point. When is EA going to realize that pumping more money into an afterthought campaign is a poor choice when that same money could be put into adding more online maps, and testing the online?
Yeah, Visceral did the SP here, which gave me hope.
DDOS attacks on Xbox One.
Battlefield: Hard-to-Connect, amirite?
*Runs from thread*
Can't read EG at work, but when did they say it took place? I was on last night (One, not Hardline) with no issues.
EA probably still runs their own servers.
I haven't had any problems yet. Which is shocking from an EA launch game.
Probably just jinxed it. Won't work when I get home from work I bet.
Holy shit am I glad I canceled my in-store pickup for this. It's going to be $40 at BBY starting a week from today, so the "effectively $38" will become actually $32, assuming I even care in mid-Bloodborne.
You shouldn't.
I looked up Best Buy's price adjustment policy. If I go pickup my preorder, I can have it adjusted on Sunday from $48 after GCU to $32 after GCU minus the $10 reward cert. So it would be effectively $22, plus I'd get the preorder DLC. That's pretty hard to beat, since I liked the multi in the beta and still am curious about the single.
edit: For clarity, the preorder is going to auto-cancel on Wednesday, since I haven't picked it up. I didn't actively cancel it out of laziness. +1 for procrastination
Think of it this way. If it dropped $20 two weeks after release, imagine how low it'll go later.
Yeah, but that's a tricky game with the PC version. It's not like BBY is likely to have a stack of retail copies forever. I'd have to wait until Amazon or GameStop or somebody puts the digital version up for $20.
Shit, that's true too. Is it Origin only?
Of course. Fucking assholes.
edit: Also worth noting is that with the price adjustment the entire cost would be covered by a gift card, which obviously wouldn't apply to other e-tailers.
Do you guys wear a skirt when you are out coupon clipping?
It's called a kilt.
I tend to do it pantsless.
So the game decided to erase my single player save. Thanks EA. It wouldn't be a big deal but the game has unskipable cinemas!! Fuckers.
