There's obviously a lot more planning if you're playing with friends, but when you're just playing with randos I think they could do a better job of balancing some things. I agree though its just 3 minutes so everything goes fast, and you're in a new match before you know it. I've only reached level 7 so far so still a lot to unlock and learn.
I've tried to use a couple of different weapons but I find I do best with the splatter shot jr, even at level 15. I rapidly switch between squid and shooting at all times and just try to cover as much ground as possible. One time we were losing on the oil rig and there were like two guys with chargers in the choke point before the big northern area, I just rode spinners past them and splattered erratically as much turf I could in the big area and we won.
I'm basically always playing with 7 Japanese players because of the similar time zone.
New gun (NES Zapper) and level (Port Mackeral) launching today 7:45 mark, along with ranked battles.

If there is one thing I don't like about this game, it's the beginning of every match where you risklessly paint your own base. 30 seconds of shooting the ground and reloading gets really old after 20 consecutive matches. One solution is not to play 20 consecutive matches and go do your laundry so you don't have to buy new socks on the way to work right now, you sloth. Another is having a good chunk of both bases start off pre-painted.
I like the second solution.
Wouldn't it make more sense to leave a roller to paint the base and try to surprise the other team with a more quick offensive?
Is it easy to communicate that? Seriously, I have no idea, I intend to pick it up today
But you can't get out of your base quickly without paint because inkling walk speed is slow. I wouldn't be surprised if alternatively painting little spots in front of you, then squidding through those spots were as fast a way to travel as just walking would be.
Plus, sometimes you don't have a roller because you have to commit to a weapon before you see your teammates' weapons which is just silly.
