Aggregate of FAVORITE all-time games lists

To be fair, it's favorite games and not good or best games. Most of that list is oozing nostalgia of stuff those people likely haven't touched in 10+ years and is sitting in a pristine place in their mind.

As much as people hate on Top 10 lists (they're cliche, blah blah blah) they're actually one of the best resources for discovering new games to play (at least in my experience).

That said, I can't believe Last of Us and Mass Effect 2 are above Zelda. Don't these people know there are 100 collectible skulltula's? And that the muddy-ass quality of the shit-poor N64 graphix are only enhanced by how rosy colored your spectacles are?

This actually makes me understand why seasoned gamers hate top 10 lists: this list is fucking awful. However, I bet if TNL did another top games list without a bunch of trolling, it would be a great fucking list. Depends on the source when it comes to these lists.

Your #1 pick, HoMM3, is one that I think might eventually end up on my list as my tastes change. It's a timeless strategy/rpg classic that always seems to have something new in store for me each time I return to it. The random map generator and the inherent randomness of hero development in the (extremely long on its own) series campaigns mean I can replay it endlessly, before even touching the massive number of user-made scenarios. We've done lists. They were typical. It's been a while though. Tastes have changed I think. I hate lists, I'd rather have people talk about their fave games that they're passionate about. Lists are boring. Korly's endless Tekken love got me to play and dig Tag Tournament 2.

Let's have a "500 words about a game you like everything about" thread, and it'll be better than 677 worthless lists naming off games people have heard of recently.

I agree. I actually like the site so that I can just point people to lists when they ask me what games are my favourites, but I'm always more interested in knowing why somebody likes a game than simply knowing what games somebody likes.

I just really want an excuse to write a bunch of words about Dynowarz: Destruction of Spondylus.

I'd probably just write about gungrave or world of tanks

Gungraves pretty rad if you like goodbad games.
