Aggregate of FAVORITE all-time games lists

Hey guys, if you happen to be a "list-whore", you might find this interesting.


Almost a 1,000 gamers have participated in this All-Time FAVORITE games list so far.
When a gamer makes his/her Top 25 (a Top 10 is also fine), the results are updated in real-time and you can rank any games (as obscure as it can be)!


This list is an aggregate of all gamers lists/opinions, so if you don't like it you can always play around with the demographic filters to see the results from a female perspective or just the people from Portugal (or wherever).

Seriously, if TLoU is #1 then lol to that.

Let's judge the list of whoever has the last post and tell them what you think the best game in there is and why. Then (hopefully) someone will do the same for you.


I'll start things off with my own list. Be gentle...

Amazing how you get a proper username but the rest of us are forced to make extremely strange first and last names, should we wish to remain anonymous.

Your #1 pick, HoMM3, is one that I think might eventually end up on my list as my tastes change. It's a timeless strategy/rpg classic that always seems to have something new in store for me each time I return to it. The random map generator and the inherent randomness of hero development in the (extremely long on its own) series campaigns mean I can replay it endlessly, before even touching the massive number of user-made scenarios. Have you tried the HD modification?

Can you elaborate on X-Com: Terror From The Deep, though? I'd rank it as the worst of the non-action X-Com games. Why pick that one?

I’m loving the System Shock 1 inclusion. The game is still so criminally ignored among 'Shock' games.

One thing interesting about that site is the filter system for age/country/etc..

Not a single Platinum game in the top 100 (unless you count Okami). Sure.

To be fair, it's favorite games and not good or best games. Most of that list is oozing nostalgia of stuff those people likely haven't touched in 10+ years and is sitting in a pristine place in their mind.

As much as people hate on Top 10 lists (they're cliche, blah blah blah) they're actually one of the best resources for discovering new games to play (at least in my experience).

That said, I can't believe Last of Us and Mass Effect 2 are above Zelda. Don't these people know there are 100 collectible skulltula's? And that the muddy-ass quality of the shit-poor N64 graphix are only enhanced by how rosy colored your spectacles are?

This actually makes me understand why seasoned gamers hate top 10 lists: this list is fucking awful. However, I bet if TNL did another top games list without a bunch of trolling, it would be a great fucking list. Depends on the source when it comes to these lists.

We've done lists. They were typical. It's been a while though. Tastes have changed I think. I hate lists, I'd rather have people talk about their fave games that they're passionate about. Lists are boring. Korly's endless Tekken love got me to play and dig Tag Tournament 2.

Let's have a "500 words about a game you like everything about" thread, and it'll be better than 677 worthless lists naming off games people have heard of recently.

I agree. I actually like the site so that I can just point people to lists when they ask me what games are my favourites, but I'm always more interested in knowing why somebody likes a game than simply knowing what games somebody likes.

I just really want an excuse to write a bunch of words about Dynowarz: Destruction of Spondylus.

I'd probably just write about gungrave or world of tanks

You should! I know like one sentence about either of those.

Gungraves pretty rad if you like goodbad games.

Speaking of Mass Effect, one of my friends is playing through the trilogy right now and she wisely chose femshep. I made her listen to the male voice on YouTube and she can't figure out how he ever got hired.

Femshep is the bestshep.

One of the worst days of my life was when I heard someone else say "why would I want to look at man ass all day?"
My reasoning had become hack.
So I had to come up with some other explanation for why I always chose chicks.
and no, I don't want to pull a shidoshi.
(though it would make my man boobs more acceptable...)

Girlbutt is a legit reason, but the acting and design for the character is 100x better in ME.

Beats looking at the walls half the time, I suppose.

Maleshep sounds almost disturbingly close to my own voice, so I did my primary playthrough with him. Femshep is definitely better acted and even written, especially in the renegade responses. Maleshep often sounds like he is just being a douche to be a douche, but femshep sounds ruthless-but-justified.
