OK, and you say poverty is an issue? I do agree with that, But look at Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia who all enter that top 50 list multiple times. Their HDIs are 756 755 and 720, all higher than "Euro-trash" Balkan countries which hold lower murder rates. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...elopment_Index
What makes Europoor react to poverty more peacefully? I know slavery was rampant in the New World and those scars still run deep, but in any BLM discussion, violence needs to be brought up in tandem with police brutality because the two are so intertwined.
Maybe they're tired of it.
And race isn't the only factor. Murder is concentrated in cities and regardless of race, poor white Appalachia and poor black Deep South have lower murder rates per capita than St Louis-Detroit-Baltimore or any other city.
Why does crime rise when you cram people into one place? Is it because you don't know your neighbor by name? The grocery clerk? The mechanic? The police officer?
Again. Lead. And the death per capita has dropped in cities with the removal of lead
Nobody knows for sure why. There are lots of theories for the crime drop. IMO lead makes a lot of sense and holds up well but I think other stuff people cite is a factor too.
Chicago's murder rate is almost 4X what NYC's is, and it's mostly poor black and Hispanic victims. NYC used to have 2000 people murdered a year now it's around 300. Lots of lives saved.
