2014 NFL Thread of Illegal Contact, Political Correctness, and PEDs cut with Molly

Yeah, that was a definite missed call. You see missed holding calls all of the time. I used to watch Ware get mugged on the line and get nothing called to help him; is was just mind-numbing to watch. Then you had the phantom holding call against Seattle in Super Bowl 40, that just the opposite.

All of this could have gone a whole lot smoother if they would use the ref teams they use throughout the season, or at least the teams that got the highest ranking.

This reminds me of the 2006 Dallas Mavericks, that let the calls of the referees dictate their play in the final 4 games. The next time Dallas made it to the finals, they didn't let anything get into their head and they just played their game. Every team is going to run into that one game where the calls just aren't going their way. Yeah, it makes it a bit more difficult to succeed, but they can overcome it with a bit more effort and risk taking. Like Garrett said at the podium, you don't lay up at Augusta.

The 2006 NBA Finals, games 3-6, were a goddamn travesty. Wade played like a monster, but he played like a monster in part because the Mavs were getting fouled for farting in his general direction. So all credit to Wade, but yea, the point is the refs bungled that series badly. One could argue that the Mavs should have just pulled themselves up by the bootstraps and win a game but it's hard when the refs are killing them.

They lost 3 of those games by a combined 6 points. Refs can easily swing a game by 2 points.

Yeah, the refs definitely swayed the outcome, but one of those games could have been won if Dirk had hit his free throws. It was frustrating, as a Mavs fan, to see how the calls went down in that series, but I feel that the Mavs let the frustration get the best of them in the end.

The only thing less interesting than talking about officiating for three days is talking about the NBA.

Yeah I heard there's some pretty good games this weekend. Local reports have Rodgers still rather gimpy. Fuuuuuuuck.

He liked Russell Wilson more than anyone else, I wonder if he sees any of that same type of talent with RG3

Yes, I'm sure Griffin could let that defense and Marshawn Lynch win games for him too.

I love ESPN's NFL headline right now: "How Seattle Changed Course: After a miserable November day in K.C., the champs looked lost. Instead, they won out. What changed?" Stanton, Kaepernick, Sanchez, Kaepernick, Lindley, and Hill. Cam Newton is the best QB they've faced since Week 10. That's pretty amazing.

edit: Wilson isn't a fucking idiot who blames his coaches and teammates and makes an ass of himself on social media though, so maybe not.
