The Flash

No discussion on this? Episode 1 aired on Tuesday and I just watched it last night. I really enjoyed it with some strong cast (Jesse Martin from Law & Order, Tom Cavanagh from Ed). The pace is quick and the superhero is not moody and enjoy being a superhero (hope this doesn't turn in Spiderman 3 in upcoming episodes). There is a bit of mystery to the set up (as I am not familiar with the source material), I read there is going to be reverse Flash?.

I think they're going to do 2 Reverse Flashes or something. Eobard Thawne is blatantly the Reverse Flash we've seen images of, body type is right, he has the right fucking name, and there's been some hints. Specially his relationship with Iris. Wells is obviously from the future as well, and definitely not future Barry if he's killing people. Multiple people have taken up the mantle of Reverse Flash, and we could be seeing a pairing of them here. I'm interested to see if they eventually go the route of Ronnie becoming Firestorm, Cisco becoming Vibe, and Caitlin becoming Killer Frost.

I'm liking this show, it's not great but it's been fun so far. And The Flash should be fun.

I find the scene where Flash vibrates his head so his dad won't recognize him to be hilarious.

That was such a great episode.

Flash may not be the strongest Justice Leaguer, but he is the most Solid Dude in the set.

I have been casually watching this show. It's definitely by-the-numbers TV but I don't know shit about The Flash so I'm enjoying the education.

Here's the thing. I think Wells is a reverse flash, we saw him do the voice thing at the end. Comic fans know Thawne is a last name of one of the Reverse Flash, the other being Hunter Zolomon, which I think Wells is based on.

All of that screams Wells aside from the insanity.

The RF we saw was probably Thawne's decendant. Wells specifically called Eddie by his last name so that RF wouldn't hurt him, as noticed when he killed all of his task force but him.

This kind of throws a wrench in that though. Zolomon looks like Thawne.

The Tachyon field was the only place wells wouldn't heal form when getting his shit kicked in, so that's why he was dragged into there.

So long story short. Wells is Zolomon, RF in suit was Eobard Thawn, or Future Eddie maybe.

That makes sense, I could see Wells as Zoom. I definitely think there's more to it then the reveal at the end for sure. I'm 100% certain that Eddie is going to go evil and end up being RF though. They've spent far too much time making him a nice likeable guy while having him date Iris which we know can't last. The heel turn is undoubtedly coming there.

Makes sense that Eddie (or his son) will turn bad considering Flash revealed his love to Iris.

All of what Chux has posted totally makes sense. Except I don't think Zolomon came from the future, which Wells definitely does. Though like you said could be based on him and not directly him. If the RF we saw is Eddie, or one of his descendants I think he and Wells are working together. I wish the reveal at the end just gave us a LITTLE bit more, specially with 6 weeks or so till the next episode.

Nah, Zolomon doesn't come from the future, but he has "Personal Time Manipulation" in the comics. After Cisco said that there was yellow lightning(Barry) and red lightning (Reverse) during the fights, which goes in line with what Barry saw as a child we know that Time Travel exists in the Flash TV series. I just wish I knew the rules of time travel for the "DCTV Universe" because it seems like coming into contact with yourself doesn't create a paradox.

I just hope he calls himself Professor Zoom with a straight face.

Arrow had Count Vertigo, Professor Zoom isn't out of the question, lol.

I just hope they really do Gorilla Grodd cause that shit will be wacky as hell.

I don't care if they do him. I would rather if they do they don't make him gritty or a white guy in a mech suit or some dumb shit.

The showrunners pretty much said Grodd was in, and he'll be a gorilla. Hell there was already grafitti in the first episode that said Grodd lives, and there is speculation that the general that wanted in on Star Labs that was wells previous partner helped create psychic living weapons, which is basically Grodd.

FWIW, Arrow is getting ridiculous with everyone being a hero and all. Dopey.

Arrow isn't THAT bad for being a superhero show on the CW. That's what I tell myself.

Flash however is ON POINT. Fucking proper Firestorm is no joke. Grodd, Wells revealing himself to Eiling and more or less giving him to Grodd.

Yeah, I gave up on Arrow this season as it was just getting worse.

Flash knows exactly what it's doing though. It keeps that goofy, fun feeling of the Flash comics without going full on camp like the old 60s Batman series. It's pretty amazing how respectful they're being to the source material, even succeeding in making silly Flash villians like Captain Cold pretty awesome.

And they're doing Grodd and actually doing him right? Not something I would have EVER expected to see in a live action tv show.

I have watched up to the Howling Commandos episode of AC. I have fallen asleep during each episode.

It doesn't help that I watch it late at night, I suppose.

I think Agent Carter is better suited for marathon viewing. The first couple of episodes were really slow but the last 2 were great.

Also, The Flash didn't take long to surpass Arrow. Really pumped to see what they can do across a few seasons.

They are approaching Flash as it should be — they're not shying away from the absurdity but framing it with pragmatism. It's the perfect anti-Nolan approach and it's making this series a blast to watch even with the freak of the week stuff initially.

Yep if they tried to take Flash ultra dark and serious it would be horrible. Fortunately they're having fun with it

Looks like they're doing that exact same thing with the DC Cinematic offerings. Superman was "dark" this past round, and Aquaman looks like a member of Sons of Anarchy. If the TV Flash has 2 more seasons as good as this one it will be the best superhero TV show ever.

I love the Cisco's line about week 3. I can't wait to see more of Grodd.

I was thinking the captain who may be paralyzed could be Zolomon.

I was actually kind of annoyed by this episode. Step 1) Give the fans everything they want to see. Step 2) Travel back in time and undo everything next week.

My wife and I have a running joke- There's more chemistry between Barry Allen and the coffee cup he's holding than between him and Iris. Or between Barry Allen and the tidal wave he's stopping. Or really, between Barry Allen and just about any background prop on the entire show.

Still a really fun watch, but it's got some growing pains to sort out.

I'm immune to that, Smallville made me numb to it.

Late to the party like usual, and I agree it's an amazing show. I used to stay away from super hero shows because of the past, but Flash and Arrow are really good.

I watch both but Arrow seems silly to me. The Flash is fantastic. More Grodd!

This is by far the best Super Hero show on tv, like ever.

I like both Flash and Arrow, though Quentin Lance on Arrow has gotten annoying as of late. I know he's frustrated because he has been lied to, but him still going after Arrow even after being told the truth by Ra's seemed a bit off.

So good this week.

Can anyone articulate to me why this show is so great? I mean it IS. But on paper it's just another superhero show. Yet week in and out they manage to write ridiculous stories and concepts in to fun and gold.

Because they get that a large part of what makes Flash great is that he's just fun. There's no dark brooding bullshit, just a superhero being awesome and enjoying being awesome

Yup, it doesn't take itself too seriously (the tone is just about perfect). The acting is decent too (with the exception of zero chemistry between Flash and Iris), and the special effects are well done, especially for TV. I enjoy this so much more than Daredevil and everyone raves about that.... DD reminds me of the recent Batman movies and everyone here hates those.

Well the Grodd cg was pretty bad at times and him catching the sonic punch made no sense whatsoever since Barry was wearing the inhibitor but otherwise Grodd was good

Last nights episode overall was pretty spectacular. Who was the dude shooting beams out of his eyes, I really don't remember him at all.

He was on Arrow. He was sort of like Gambit in that he could absorb Kinetic energy.

Ahhhhhh hence why I didn't recognize him.

I just came in here to ask that very same question. I feel like I'm missing stuff here and there by not watching Arrow. oh well. I'm sure the team up at the end would have been more amazing if I did. So is the fire dude on Arrow now?
