This is waste, though. I'm playing Megaman ZX right now and it does the same thing: I'll go through several screens of map only to hit a roadblock in the form of a colored door to which I don't have the corresponding colored key. The only thing to do is backtrack or suicide, the latter of which is to the player's benefit because it saves the time that would have been spent running back to the hub. Any* design that encourages failing on purpose is a bad one.
