An awful lot of Nintendo fans seem to be uncomfortable with buying things digitally, going by discussions on the GameFAQs Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 boards (and with the clusterfuck that Nintendo has made of digital "ownership", who can blame them?), so it doesn't surprise me they're willing to pay a premium for a physical copy.
This is one of the worst analyses I've ever seen. OoT 3D was a launch game. It didn't sell to 45 million people, it sold to zero people in the beginning. OoT 3D did very well for a launch game. By contrast, OoT launched on a 3-year old system with a stable audience and was probably the most hyped game ever up to that point.
i love it.
