*bump*
C'mon. I know that someone here has played and/or owns Sonic CD for the Mega CD.
That's the problem. I ONLY own the Mega CD rev, and it's the only one I've heard. My understanding is that the title track is different, along with some of the BGM tracks in the stages. I'm sure someone else can tell you more.Quote:

Yup, file that controversy under "Things I Never Gave Two Shits About and Still Don't."Quote:
What is that site exactly?
I've never seen or heard of it before.
Ok, here goes. The Japanese soundtrack is better, but the U.S. one by Spencer Nielsen is also quite good (most tracks are actually low-groovin' remixes of the japanese soundtrack with lots of R&B vocals)...so, they're both worth owning for a hardcore Sonic fan. The Japanese one is much more "techno," with fast-paced beats and upbeat tempos. Also, the title screen tune is great, with goofy engrish lyrics and some hella stupid rapping. Oh, as a note, Spencer only remixed the tunes for the Present, Bad Future and Good Future stages.. the Past music is all from the Japanese version. Hope that helps!

When was this?Quote:
It used to be that gamers didn’t actually care what they heard on screen.
That site is lame.
Ah, no wonder my favorite music is from the Past stages then...Quote:

I don't care what anyone says. I've heard both the Japanese and American soundtracks and I love the American one. Back when I orginally got Sonic CD, I was blown away when I heard vocals in a vid game. I never heard anything like that and I was truely amazed. I do like the japanese tracks, but the American one has a nostalgic feeling for me. My favorite tune is Little Planet.
Well, as I mentioned in the Sonic Mega Collection thread, I had both versions and didn't feel the soundtrack tinkering was any big deal at all. I really liked the US one, and didn't see the Japanese version as any great improvement. Or an improvement at all, for that matter. 6 of one, 1/2 a dozen of the other.
I will say that in terms of package design and even CD label, the Japanese version seriously kicked the US one's ass all over hell and creation. Really nice design, looked amazingly sharp.
And for those with a Sega CD who want to know, head to http://www.wolfgames.com and pick it up for $29, on sale now.
Thing to worry about- we've seen Sega do emulation before, notably in the Smash Pack. Anyone else seriously hoping they do a better job on the Gamecube than they did on their own hardware?
