Maki or Haggar joining the cast? Can't say I'm too excited by either of those possibilities. Birdie looks pretty cool though.
Haggar is almost a definite. I'm cool with it.
Also, GG's Mollidoshi !
Ooh, Maki, I hope so. Actually I like all the FF crew, although always felt Cody's moveset never really fit with his FF fighting style (as much as could be gleaned)...prison outfit or no.
I'd love to see Maki. She has a lot of leeway for being further distinguished from Guy, what with her tonfa and bosozoku background (she already has a haymaker, but she could get stuff like a yakuza kick, headbutt, etc.) Plus, I love her "KONO YARO!" soundclip.
Likewise, if Haggar makes it in I'd like to see his axe-handle specialization further emphasized by keeping his spinning golfswing axe-handle from FF3/MvC3 and re-introducing his short dash axe-handle from Slammasters.
Well, I guess that's subjective. While he has a stomach punch, it's nothing like the one in his target combo (which he doesn't have), his spin kick isn't represented in any way, I don't think he has the jump knee, and mostly, it's the way they filled out the rest of his moveset that doesn't feel Cody'ish. The knife play and jail-themed moves are fine, but his scootin' kicks are kinda dumb.
I'm happy they did, like, a take on the character, but I don't think they did best job. Guy on the other hand plays/feels fantastic in SF. For Hugo they had even less source material and he's great too.
I don't think straight up FF Cody would have been interesting for anyone, creatively they took it in a good direction IMO.
His spin kick is the crack kick sans spin (since he's only fighting one person) He actually has his spin kick in omega mode. It looks goofy since he's only fighting one person. Meanwhile Guy's senpukyaku always had a front/back/front spin where you could say, "yeah, it could hit one person multiple times"
How would you extrapolate his fighting style into a move set?
Oh yeah, I forgot about the mid crack kick, that has his jump kick (and half his special spin) pose.
YD, you're crazy. Straight up FF Cody would bring back the 80's...hard
I do like that high-pitched sound of...indifference? he makes. Always assumed that was some subtle commentary on how Mad City never changes, and neither shall he (incarcerated or not).
