It depends on the game and the release schedule. Life is Strange has these nice, small, manageable episode sizes, breaks at interesting discussion points, and puts out episodes on a pretty tight schedule, so I'd rank this among the games for which the episodic format is a positive.
Bought the season pass during the last Steam sale. As a rule, I tend to hold off on episodic games until the entire season is out. More fun to just plow right through it.
But all the good press this game is getting... I'll be done with Sherlock Holmes tonight, and this might prove too hard to resist any longer.

I hadn't played any of this previously and watched a stream of this ep while up all night for early surgery. It's really impressive. Other than having a specific bit of terrible vapist dialogue, the rest was fantastic.

The game does sometimes struggle with awkward attempts at youth slang. It gets better in later episodes (and they even poke a little fun at it in this one), so I find it easy to overlook.
