Yeah Grid 2 at high and Crysis 3 at medium were 60 FPS and really amazing looking.
I had to get one of these, because Atari was so forward-thinking that its console won't work with a standard RF switch box. Neither my NES or MS ones work because they interfere with the signal (I play those consoles in composite but still have the boxes around). Supposedly, this cancels the interference. I'll know tomorrow because the stupid PO only had 3 employees working the counter and PO boxes today, after a 3-day weekend. They were backed up and couldn't get to the package until after the PO closed. Yay!

Maybe because the standard autoswitching rf box wasn't standard yet?
But that adapter provides a much cleaner signal than the switchbox regardless.
And maybe I'm misreading your post, but that is used in lieu of an RF, not in addition.
It uses a composite cable but connects to the TV's RF input.
The 7800 came out after the NES and around the time of the Master System. You can daisy chain both the NES and MS boxes without problems, but Atari derped it. Everyone else got it right but Atari.
The atari 7800 was developed years before that though.
My wife surprised me yesterday with a copy of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I immediately ordered a Circle Pad Pro so that I actually have fun with it.
Considering the hardware, it's very pretty! I'm already loving how much quicker and more responsive it is compared to Tri, which was the last game in this series I really got into. Can't wait until the CPP gets here so I can properly dive in.
But IIRC, it was on hold for several years. That would be even worse then, because it would mean Atari released it years later and never made any revisions, despite more advanced competition already being on the market. They'd be both stupid and lazy, as opposed to just stupid. :p
Of course, the right answer here is that they were cheap, plain and simple.
I thought that was common knowledge concerning the Tramiel years.
the real question is who is playing native Atari 7800 games
Also: it wasn't only on hold, units were manufactured, packaged, and ready to send to retail.
Well, it is backward compatible with the 2600, so it's not bad to keep around as basically a 2600+.
I'm not a big Atari fan, but I played Kaboom! at a friend's house and I LOVE IT SO FUCKING MUCH. I need to track down a copy and some paddles.
On topic: Got a XRGB2 yesterday. It's still an amazing piece of hardware.
Yeah, I got it for the BC. I was going to trade for a 2600, but he had a 7800 so I went for that. The 7800's library is small enough to collect for, and there are so many great 2600 games I want to play again.
Btw, Tim, the dude who makes the NESRGB kits is making a RGB kit for the 2600. It's pointless and awesome.
Melf, check your PMs.
I like the 7800. Some nice ports of early arcade games like Robotron, one of the best versions of Ballblazer, and some nice homebrews like Jr. Pac-Man, Beef Drop (Burgertime clone) and Failsafe. The one thing is that 2600 games are darker than on a 2600, so I still keep my 2600 around.
Yard Sale haul:
Boxed set of three Garfield DVDs (Garfield as Himself, Garfield Fantasies, and Garfield Travel Adventures) with various specials like Garfield on the Town for a dollar.
Edge of Tomorrow (All You Need is Kill) novel for 25 cents.
I also ordered Splatoon from Best Buy since I have a five dollar off coupon, but that may be an August haul rather than a July one (though there is a chance it still might come this week).
I got Front Mission Evolved for $2 because sometimes the urge to satisfy curiosity is stronger than the urge to avoid inevitable pain.
I loved my 7800 back in the day. There are some really cool titles that is just so bizarre... Ninja Golf, Desert Falcon, and a pretty cool home port of Food Fight.
I bought it for $1 last month, but haven't have time to try it. LMK if I should bother.
I just read "7800" out of context and subconsciously put a "GTX" in front of it instead of an "Atari." The console gamer in me is truly dead.
Splatoon just arrived!
Picked up Fatal Fury Battle Archives volume 1 and 2, and... my TV won't display them. Nice work, SNK.
I'd blame my TV, but it seems to be exclusively Neo games I have problems with. Capcom Classics, Alpha Anthology, no worries. Any PS2 or Wii VC Neo Geo port = pfff.
/oh and the Mega Man X collection.
Bottom 2/3rds is green/black digital garbage, top 1/3 is a squished image.
If there's a way to force the PS2 to boot into a different display mode I haven't found it.
Your tv can't handle 240p from that input. The Capcom collections (except for X) output 480I.
Blame the tv, not SNK. On a crt they would look a lot better than the 480I collections.
There is...I had to boot into alt mode when I had my PS2 hooked up to my little 1080s monitor.
I blame both. Authenticity is cute until it becomes a problem, at least make it optional. Worst case I can just boot the game onto a pc emulator no problem, but so lame. Do you recall how you did it? Google Fu is bringing mixed results.
Nope. It was something about holding a bunch of buttons while booting up.
Problem is the games boot to the menu at 480 then switch over when you select the game.
Take a walk around your neighborhood the night before trash day. I'd bet you'd find yourself a CRT.
Lame. Might as well emulate off the disc. PCSX2 runs awesome on my machine, I just hate playing games on the PC.
Ah well! Moving on.
Shame, ff archive 2 is my favorite
I didn't even have to leave my apartment to find a Wega just this month!
Attachment 77235
:tu:!
I've been trying to find a 27-32 in Wega for laserdisc playing on my local Craigslist and have been coming up empty. Fuckers were all over the place when I was looking for a PVM.
I think I'm hopping on the Wega bandwagon, I found a 32" one that does component for $25 on CL.
What a difference 24 hours can make.
I got rid of mine a while ago. No ragrets.
Blazblue Extend Vita. Probably going to grab skullgirls while I have some credit in my psn account and just wait for,the vita one to come out since its cross buy.
I still use the 27'' WEGA I bought in 2002. It weighs 230 pounds but games look great on it. If I someday manage to buy a Framemeister and get everything hooked up right, I'll get rid of it.
You might not.
230 lbs aren't going to move itself
You can never hook up a Framemeister right enough to play light gun games.
So I got that heavy motherfucker home, trying to stage out what to do with it now.
Holy shit Mill Valley CA is a swanky little town. Mountain views like nobody's business, lots of super rich teenagers running around.
Apotheon
skullgirls 2nd encore - where is the community for this game? Thought it was dust loop.
