Konami had zero to do with me getting a Genesis. They were nice when they showed up, but they weren't there for quite a while. Sonic and Shinobi and Mortal Kombat 1 and the ambulance running people over in Madden were a bigger deal.
I don't understand 16 bit sports games. There are so many games in other genres that are more fun to play.
But I don't understand most sports veiwing. The worst episode of next generation is better to me than an average football game.
Also, I'm surprised that sonic 1 sold better 2. It really felt like 2 had a bigger cultural impact. Well, kid culture.
Sonic 1 got a major boost by being packaged with the hardware. Altered Beast as well, and to some extent, Aladdin. Though not really a Sega game, it did get a bundle and eventually sold around 4 million copies.
Those sales numbers surprised me too. Was Sonic 1 ever a pack in with the model 2 genesis? It seems like more model 2s sold than model 1s and sonic 2 was the big pack in for them. (I'm aware there were other pack ins with the model 2).
Correct.
edit: We seem to have over-complicated this (shocking!). In the time frame you're talking about, the only high selling game that was available was the original Sonic, wasn't it? I'm excluding Altered Beast, because those were probably near exclusively pack-ins.
Hey Mzo, is the "playsation" vita one of those Chinese knock off things?
Ask Geen.
