No one gave a shit about this? Lol. It was okay. It was kind of lame that only some pimple-faced teenager and Johnny Depp's little drug addict brother were the only two people who knew something was up. It will be interesting to see where they go with this.
Is it better than the orginal shiw? Less drama? More people losing their shit and dying?
Only a couple of deaths so far, but it's the beginning of the apocalypse, so it's too early for full-on carnage. They're showing how authorities are dealing with the sickness and how society falls. I find that really interesting and a nice contrast to the original show. I didn't give a shit about the characters after the first episode, though. The family dynamic is weak and tired (single mom lives with boyfriend and her kids don't like him! He has a kid who doesn't like him!).
Meh. It's going to come out in a few years that all these family plots are coming from the same focus group or advising company. It's all became so interchangeable in the past 5 years.
I like the approach of the long tease. Different location, the very start of the epidemic. Everyone knows what's going to happen, so they use that to build suspense and ramp things up with each passing day. It starts with seeing a walker, so it's immediatly recognizable as TWD, but the person's sanity is questioned. It's a good hour in until fear of the population is shown. It's being played off realistically. The epidemic didn't kick in over night, it's a few days (maybe a week?) at least. Starts as rumors, hospital and emergency personnel see the insanity first, then public confrontations with video proof. As a viewer you know the details already, so the events have more layers than the character at this point (uh oh, the old man in the hospital bed next to Nick just flat lined...)
Fun end to the premiere, I don't think they'll hold back much longer before all hell breaks loose.
It was interesting enough, and the timeline gives it a good differentiation factor, but how long is that going to last? Once they're a few years in, what's the difference?
The apocalypse also seems to happen more slowly than I'd expect. We're talking about a town with an average of like 100 deaths a day and yet clearly this has been going on for days maybe weeks without anyone really talking about it except on the fringes.
The Walking Dead is terrible and I still hold a grudge with the general TNL population for acting like it was amazing and I was crazy for seeing all the same issues everyone else eventually came to terms with.
I find it nearly impossible to trust this, but with a different cast and better writing maybe. If you've completely given up on the main show and haven't watched since season three, is this worth trying?
The Walking Dead is an awful show, but but I'm gonna give Fear a shot.
I got tired of the writing. By season 2 it was just a soap opera.

There are many shows I used to like that I gave up on years ago because they turned into night time soap operas. Bones and Supernatural are but two. But it seems like everything (especially "reality") is all false drama and little soap opera-esque vignettes.
I really liked the first 5-6 episodes of Humans and then it shit the bed. It's kind of a running theme on AMC I think...
I only got to see the first 4 episodes of Humans. For some reason On Demand locks up whenever I try to watch Episode 5 or 6. Only show it does it to. But I guess I don't care enough to try watching it elsewhere.
Looking forward to Robot tonight though!

Orphan Black is a good show to check out.
I really don't watch much tv outside of documentaries, Hannibal, Castle, and The Murdoch Mysteries, so I don't have much to compare this to.
I thought it was better than anything from the first season of The Walking Dead at least, but I guess that's not saying much.
First season was ok until ninja zombies. So two episodes. They reeeeally are the dumbest device in the entire series.
yeah, the first couple of episodes of walking dead were ok. I would have liked it if the first episode had not started with any zombies and instead started with him in the bed, flash backed to the previous time as a cop, and spent a little more time on him figuring out what had happened. Having the zombie in the first 10 minutes of the episode was just treating the audience like they were stupid and was a missed opportunity for building tension that you wouldn't ever get again.
After the establishment of the love triangle with his life the show became a stupid soap opera.
Shane was the best part about season 2. I wish we could have had a spin off with him running his own gang.
You should watch Fury if you enjoy Shane.
Finally got around to watching this. Seems alright. I think the two main actors are a lot better than anyone on the original show so that's a plus. I'll give this a few more eps to see how it turns out.
The Walking dead has gotten pretty good the last few seasons. Especially after the terrible second season that tried to kill the show for me.
Do the male leads all talk like they are constipated all the time? I can do without that southface bullshit.

get that they wanted to show a tank being used as a pill box, but the sherman couldn't have taken on that force that late in the war. By then all forces would have had arms to deal with a single medium tank.
Also, stupid how they handled the final deaths given the gore of everything else. Grenades do not work that way
I liked Fury, but it certainly involves dismissing realism if you want it to work for you.
It's pretty realistic in some ways. But it slowly becomes "iron tank" the movie by the end.
FOTWD - wondering if these characters (any) are going to tie in to the original show down the line.
Based on the timeline I would expect to see some original people in the first couple of seasons make quick appearances.
Caught this show tonight. It's quite good so far--actually more coherent than the original. It has a lot of the TV family tropes but it's well made. I'm super curious about the barber guy and both parents are good actors.
Watching the first season now. Guess I wasnt the only one that thought drug boy was lil johnny depp. Had I known a Deadwood alumni was in this, I would have given it a chance sooner.
Six episodes in, it's alright.
p.s. it annoys me that the dude from Whale Rider seems to have a career and the girl doesnt.
She's in a few Game of Thrones episodes.
yeah, but this is like the fourth or fifth time I've seen him in some tv show. Her imdb is relatively light in comparison.
Also: it just struck me that lil johnny depp is really the love child of johnny depp and will wheaton.
