Paying more money for the hassle of swapping discs just makes no sense.
I buy physical games only when they're cheaper, or in the case of games I intend to trade in once finished, about the same cost as digital.
A small minority spend way too much while the majority spends nothing. That's how all of these things work now.Quote:

It doesn't really change that it's not my problem that I don't view digital as having the same value as physical, and I'm not willing to spend extra except in special circumstances. You're completely right. Clicker Heroes is the only thing I ever have running in the background and I hate all other gaming. Valid point.
As a consumer I not only have the right to spend money on things that have value to me, I also have that as a responsibility. I really don't give two shits if another Call of Duty ever gets made so I don't spend money on it, physical or digital. I'd love to get the One Piece: Pirate Warriors games but they're only available physically in Europe, so if I'm going to spend money on them I'll wait for a sale. I'm pretty sure Namco-Bandai will come out of it just fine.
I don't think you're quite getting that the kinds of games I care about most don't actually end up costing more than $20 anyway. Far Cry is something I'd love to have loved if it worked with my trackball. Just Cause 3 is happening on PS4, disc release. I'm feeling pretty good that the PS4 EDF will be on disc too. There's very little middle ground between the $50-$60 digital releases and the $20 and less digital-only games.
I could not agree more. Just be careful what you wish for. If selling the One Piece game domestically isn't profitable at all, the more likely conclusion is to not release the next one at all, not to release it physically.Quote:

And console digital AAA has to be viewed as disposable. The games only exist as long as the publisher says they do. I've got a ton of XBLA content I can't access because my 360 is no longer online.

So you're penalizing the actual creative people responsible for 80% or whatever of the cost and 100% of the value of the game for the publisher not spending the last 20% on things of zero value like shipping and GameStop's shelf space.
