I would show you a picture of Bossk but it would devalue my investment.

I would show you a picture of Bossk but it would devalue my investment.
I was hoping to beat the system, that is a wise choice.
I'll show you a picture of your mom's Bossk.
I hear you can't even find a Bossk with both hands and a flashlight.
I landed in his mom's while escaping TIE Fighters in an asteroid field. IT HAD TEETH!
edit: For the record, you can blame the terrible matchmaking in Splatoon for every post I've made in this thread, as I have way too much time between rounds.
I'd have gone for a Mynok joke but that too is a bold choice.
I have so many Shmi Skywalkers, this is awful.
Nobody even wanted that character in a movie, much less two of 'em.
Fucking Twi'leks.
Fucked around and got 2 street art chewbaccas today!
How do you make comments like this, then buck government legislation on business and suggest boycotting g and similar spending by consumers for consumers to get what they want out of industry?
Clearly he wants more physical games and he spends accordingly and yet here you are chastising him for take your advice from previous threads.
Way to miss the point entirely.
Oh right! With GOG and Humble things change instantly. I can happily be responsible for proper storage of things I actually own. I mean, I still won't give Ubisoft $50 for Far Cry, because it's DRM-ed to the nines and I don't have a mouse the game is happy with, but for the right game I'll cheerfully wander into the $25-$30 range for PC. DRM-free changes everything, and who wants to switch out discs in a PC all day long anyway? Physical media is all about the consoles.
This may come as something of a surprise to you, but I'm actually more informed on my house layout, the model of Xbox 360 I own, and where my router is than you are.
You can't be serious. You connect the thing once, download whatever isn't already on there, transfer licences if necessary, and that's that.
Your big problem with downloadable content is the equivalent of complaining about physical games being in the attic. It's a non-issue.
Maybe he isn't aware the license transfer tool exists?
In return for a pdf file. Hooray digital!
Digital has no soul to me. The feeling of going into a book or comic store (the smell of a comic store!), thumbing through the issues in the boxes and on the shelves - all that is lost. It's just not the same.Quote:
edit: I strongly suspect your local business example is a small minority these days. Most vintage stuff is being bought from re-sellers over the internet.

He is correct in the gist of it, lord assburger.
Unless you have a printing press and you're printing out your own comics from the comic files.
This thread is ridiculous. You're all ridiculous.
Filling checklists makes me feel satisfied and I like Star Wars noises, so I'll keep laughing at this "fill a list and we'll play a Star Wars noise" app. My name's RAREJPEGS if you want to be Card Buddies!
These threads are set up to devolve into "people are DUMB who like this, who agrees with me?" and they never fail to deliver.
People insult other people's sense of value, argue about digital vs physical, and generally make themselves look like terrible humans. It's like a safe place for assholes. Everyone here is an asshole, feel free to scream into the void and no one will judge you. You're among friends.
lol Well said.
They move to the next panel? Well hot damn! That completely negates my entire point! I guess I should go sell my entire collection now!
And I will scream into the void until all my comics are taken away from me and replaced with panel-moving, semi-interactive image files (better, Yoshi?).
Scream all you want. For me, being able to have hundreds of comics, books, songs, games, etc. readily available while on the toilet while also supporting the artists beats being able to smell the denizens of a comic book store or the equivalent. At least any unpleasant odors there are my own.
At the end of the day you ignore all that stuff and check tnl on the shitter just like everyone else.
People go on and on about how great "at my finger tips" us and yet most of us check the same 4 websites instead. 99.999% if people weren't readying Plato because there just wasn't enough time in the day without using a phone or similar to read it during a shit.
No one has ever said "man oh man, if I could just bring all my books to the bathroom and the bus. My life would be fixed"
I've had the entire cbr runs of Fantastic Four and Berserk on my iPad, it's a perfectly good way to skim or read massive backlogs of stuff without donating several bookshelves to the cause.
I prefer to own some things as books (oversized editions are my kryptonite), but for reading's sake digital is totally fine.
All one way or the other is stupid, being a media omnivore is very satisfying!
You're not wrong, though I tend to go to ebay and forums where I am more likely to buy things while on the john, since timing matters in those situations. I only used the toilet example for comedic value. Where portability matters is when I am away from home, though I also don't want to waste enough space in my house to store everything I own digitally. If I had 1,000+ more physical games, I wouldn't have an office anymore.
I'd mostly agree with this. Somethings are deserving of space and some are not. And there are a plethora of things that deserve ownership limbo or purgatory. Not wonderful enough to physically own, but just interesting enough to keep on a hard drive.
I do question how many people allow that to play out as noble as yoshi apparently does. Because there is probably a huge overlap between not worth the space and not worth paying for.
There definitely is. The other component is not worth the time. I am the first one to admit that I have bought digital games that I have never played and absolutely would not want to store. Usually they are part of Humble Bundles but not exclusively. However, I have also bought physical games that I never opened either. I'm proud of neither.
edit: I think music is the only thing I have never bought and then never used. I've definitely done it with books, movies, and games both physical and digital.
I've done it with all of the above as well, but I think it's nearly always due to a sale. If I know I want something at some point in the future and there's a great deal on it at the present then I don't see too much wrong with picking it up and keeping it until I get around to it.
I can't think of anything I've bought at full price that I haven't gone on to play/read/watch shortly thereafter.
I agree with that, and it could be the fourth dimension of what buttplant was mentioning. If you will only buy it on sale, do you really want/need it?
I almost almost finish day one purchases, but I suspect my completion rate falls off a cliff the longer I wait to buy something.
I only buy things on sale, but it's because I have such a daunting backlog that I know I won't play anything until years after it comes out.
You probably read trash. And if you don't, you're an exception.
What's it to you?
Maybe he just wants to read ABOUT Trash.

What's the status of dead tree. Books to him? Why can't you follow a conversation?
If someone is going to praise something over something else and participate in destroying an industry, they should be doing something worth while. Not reading the DaVinci code and dragon Lance books on their kindle. Or worse, claiming they read 100s of books on their gadget of choice when they really just reload facebook and twitter all day and they haven't read a book since the last harry potter.
You really can't read facebook on a Kindle. Are you sure you know what you're talking about?
It's all the same shit when it comes time to defend them.
Sure.
Unless you are that one tnl snowflake that actually needs old kindle screens to read because you have trouble with lcds and similar
E-ink is still widely preferred I believe. Nicer on the eyes.
I wish I had the backlit paper white model. I'd use it more.
Yeah, the only reason to own one of the LCD versions is if you want to read comics on it, since they haven't cracked color e-ink.
Hi Buttcheeks. I read on my old ass kindle instead of my iPad because reading on the iPad fucks my eyes all up. Is that ok?
You're a snowflake. And so am I apparently.
I use my kindle for books and nothing else. Reading on an iPad sucks.
I downloaded this app and the Topps Bunt one. The baseball one looks more interesting, because there is some kind of meta fantasy game tied in.
I read with real books.
The book threads are comparively dead. And no one ever references books when discussing anything on this forum.
I doubt all these claims of reading. Kindle or otherwise.
Hey, if you dummies are actually using this thing, here's a free pack:

It is not magically different from games or movies. There are book clubs for christ sake.
It's not even "you" guys. This is something everyone does. Everyone claims to read. Everyone espouses just how great it is that they have thousands of books at their fingertips. Yoshi used that in defense of his point.
The reality is most people don't read nearly that much. The best are reading like 2 or 3 books a month. Not nearly enough to justify shit all.
But hey, tell me I'm wrong, and not post in the printed page forum because your digital collection of Hardy Boys stories are private.
I would say I read 2 a month.
I read a ton of cookbooks and cooking articles. Novels are maybe 1-2 a year.
Oh my fuck. I didn't realize how TNL'd this thread has become until after I posted the on-topic promo code. We're on e-readers now?
I got a red Qui-Gon Jinn fuck what you heard.
Topps is selling the oversized 1977 Star Wars cards from sdcc on their website for a limited time
Just off the top, Arobi does it all the time. I only read (most common scenario is rotating between a novel, a technical or ergodic thing, something that's nonfiction, religion/occult or philosophy, and a comic book concurrently) physical books because it's just what I have and I obtain them faster than I can read them but who gives a fuck?
Did anyone get the following ESB Illustrated cards today?
3, 5, 6, 7
I have several duplicates I'd like to trade for those.
I got 3 today. Does anyone have 5, 6 and/or 7? I don't think the packs will be available after today. :\
edit: And now I figured out how to make trade offers to randoms.
Yep. You had doubles of two of them. I've sent an offer for two you needed. Thanks!
I just discovered Topps Huddle and Topps Kick. Addiction confirmed.
