Degica's been making partnerships with shooting game developers pretty rapidly. Qute shooters are coming to Steam, Triangle Service shooters have already come to Steam, and now Cave. Degica says Cave will be doing the ports themselves.
I'm really, really excited. I want to know what the games are, and what the prices are (not that any price will stop me, tbh).
This is one time I won't bitch about a re-post. It's too big to be relegated to just the general PC thread, easily the biggest announcement of the year.
edit: I hope it's everything, going back to the original DDP and the like. Hell, release one game a quarter for the next several years, and I'll be happy.
I think you meant to say that Cave will be doing the ports! Good that the original dudes are working on it. Hope it works out well and they release their entire catalog. I will buy them all if the ports are good.
Now lets get G.Rev to port their stuff and since we are getting the new Darius game I'd like to see a Darius Collection. More shmups!
For the first game I'm betting they'll either start on DoDonPachi, maybe by porting the Xbox 360 version that came with that visual novel game of theirs, or we'll see one of their already-Windows-in-arcades games (Akai Katana NesicaxLive version or Deathsmiles 2).

The thought of putting a Steam Machine inside my Blast City has already crossed my mind.
You wouldn't want to do a Steam Machine specifically, would you? I haven't looked into them much, honestly, but I was under the impression that they could only play SteamOS/Linux compatible games.
A little HTPC with Steam in big picture mode or something inside a cab would be damn awesome, though. I imagine you'd want to create a standalone Steam account for it, so that you weren't sifting through hundreds of non-applicable games. Re-buying the arcade stuff would probably be justifiable. Then again, simply creating a library category or something might suffice.
SteamMachines only come loaded with SteamOS but you can definitely install Windows on them if you want.

Any word on cost yet? I'll pay whatever, as any good shooter under $80 is a bargain, but I'm curious.

I'd be surprised if it's more than $30, but I'm with you that cost is no object here.
$30 is a bit beyond what I'd normally pay for digital-only, but it's Cave. Exception justified up to $50. And honestly, they could probably squeeze a bit more from me without too much trouble.
Shooters are generally exempt from any cost justifications I have.
When it comes to cost, the Degica dude on GAF suggested it would be in line with their other releases (which are, like, $15-ish). I wouldn't be surprised if these had a slight premium, but I think it's unlikely that they'll charge $50 or whatever.

I can understand that, as I used to feel that way too. Deathsmiles was my gateway drug, because I prefer horizontal shooters. Once I "got" the bullet hell style though, I had to have more. The verts are honestly phenomenally handled on mobile if anyone wants to dip a toe in.

Pink Sweets is the apology to Cave fans for making a good game, don't need to play that. Pork looks like too much of a compromise for me to truly enjoy, but if it was cheap I'd play around with it.
This is awesome news, and will only push me faster into making a new PC. I still play Futari once in a while on 360 and my iPod, but I can't wait to try some of the others that I haven't got around to importing or trying yet. I'm not into their stuff that much (the high watermarks for me are games like Gate/Lords of Thunder, Final Soldier, Darius Gaiden and Thunder Force III), but the same is true of most bullet hells. Even then, it's still obvious to me how beautifully made and balanced Cave's games are.
Somewhat related: recently I did find myself really getting into Crimzon Clover.

Yes, although it sucks there hasn't been anything nearly as good in that style in the past decade. The release of Border Down is now closer to the release of Gate of Thunder than it is to the present day.

There's definitely some confusion on the DLC. Quoting the press release-
"DLC: Mushihimesama 1.5 will be available as DLC. This is another remixed version of the game that was previously available only to a select few players who had first-edition copies of the Xbox 360 version, but is now presented to the general Steam audience."
V1.01 was the day-one edition DLC. I'm not sure whether that's a typo or not, and whether v1.5 would include the 360 version. I'm hoping that gets clarified soon, plus details on Black Label.
No, you're mixing up Mushimesama and Mushihimesama Futari. The 1.01 and Black Label DLC was for Futari, not for the original Mushihimesama.

This is a great game with a bunch of content
if you can start it without crashing
and if you don't try to fullscreen it on anything other than a 16:9 monitor
and if it doesn't run at 56FPS for some damn reason
and if it remembers your settings
and if it saves your scores
and if it actually supports the controller you're using
but the chances of that happening are actually fairly slim right now, so I'd wait for a patch or two.
