Your Mii will then start a conversation with you, for example asking you about your hobbies. This information will then be nattered about by your friends' Mii characters, and any shared interests will be highlighted.

"Instead of the users proactively sending their own messages, Miitomo has a unique characteristic that can be called 'friendly communication starters' as your Mii will automatically dispatch the answers you gave to certain questions to your friends," Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima explained today in an investor briefing.

"These 'friendly communication starters' have an advantage that even the people who are less willing to send messages can easily participate.

"Another unique characteristic of Miitomo is that you may be able to find out unknown aspects about your friends or unexpected commonalities you share with your friend because Miitomo may pick up the topics that you usually do not discuss but would be willing to answer if asked.

"What we would like to realise is, through such communication, you will be able to deepen friendly relationships and have more people with whom you can play games."

It's basically a mix of the old Club Nintendo, Tomadachi Life, and Facebook. I'm not sure why it's confusing.

It's an app they want you to open every day to get some daily coins. You are doing something 'Nintendo' every day (instead of 2 months each year when a game comes out).

You see some random shit about your 'friends' and chuckle at the stupid interactions and computer voices. Post some dumb pictures to social media if you want.

There are coins you get for buying digital games and whatever else they can think of. They'll probably have a catalog of stuff like Club Nintendo eventually.

It's basically 'why not'. Small effort for some small return later. Like entering codes from games you bought onto a terrible slow website.

Do you use the Game Tickets for Picross?

You use the tickets for the drop machines in the store to get more clothes. Zelda Picross is only through the coins you get from using Miitomo.

Where do you actually buy it? Is there anything else to buy?

It's on my.nintendo.com. You get coins for other stuff too, like linking Facebook/Twitter, looking at eShop, Miiverse, or you click your Mii for daily coins on the site. I got a code in an email because of Club Nintendo. You can enter codes from the menu in the top left, it's not super obvious.

I leveled up in style pretty rapidly because I changed my clothes 100 times already. I have no idea how to add anyone!

You can only add through Facebook, Twitter, or real life. Just hit "Friends" and then "Add Friends" and it'll have the option to send a request to anyone that follows you mutually although it doesn't seem to have everyone for mine.

It doesn't seem to be finding everyone with Facebook or Twitter.

If only there was some way for a Nintendo account to access itself and see the list of friends it already has instead of an unrelated social network list by another company that has totally different people on it.

Downloaded this this morning at like 3am, I've already put WAY too much time into it. I have laughed myself stupid at a few of the things I wrote, just because that fucking voice is incredible. Also yes SSJN, very loud. I see people answering questions like someone is really wanting to know the honest answers, and I just think "missed opportunity for stupid jokes" every time. I vow to only answer with ridiculous bullshit henceforth.

With not much sadness, I deleted miitomo this morning. Even in power saving mode it drains my battery. I ended up unfollowing most of my facebook friends and I almost never check in on twitter, because I just don't care about the mundane musings of other humans. I also don't give a carp about barbie dress up.
Hopefully the next app is more compelling.

I'm playing Go, it's a fun diversion. Caught a Ekans at 7-11 on the way to work. A Pidgeotto at a traffic light and a Rattata and Nidoran at my desk.

What do you do with the pokemans?

There are some guys at my office obsessed with Ingress. I don't want to be one of those people.

I think you can challenge gyms. When your mons beat the gym you're posted up as the leader.

It is kind of weird that there's no social component to it whatsoever, though. Especially after Miitomo.

I think there will be. The launch trailer showed a few features not in game yet.

Does anyone know if there's someway to put down a location in Pokemon Go (for instance, i have a swimming pool next to my apartment that I want to make a stop?) I realized it's integrated with Google maps somehow, but it seems like there's quite a few smaller locations (statues, placards) that aren't necessarily on Google maps. I want to make one of these!

Seems like if that was something we could do it would be abusable as fuck. Shame, really. I'd like to add a stop to the overlook by the train tracks I like to hang about at.

I have hundreds of Pokestops at my work. No exaggeration. I can just sit there in the basement and refresh the Purple Wall, and Blade Runner car over and over.

Nope. They were all made in Ingress and then copied over to Pokemon Go.

oh, bummer. i've noticed a few errors (murals attributed to incorrect artists, as well as certain closed spots/restaurants) and it would be cool if there was someway to fix that, but i suppose their servers are barely functioning at this point so it may be too much to ask, haha.

The popularity of this game is astounding. I drove through my town square tonight and there were people clustered everywhere with their phones stretched out in front of them.

(It's kind of a shitty game! Makes me interested in Ingress, though.)
