I'm sure it will be lost because Yoshi loves shitting up old game threads with debate, but another famicom only game I liked was the old Lupen game. I like the speed of it. You are constantly moving fast. You can play as all three of the main characters and all truck it.

You missed my point. If one's preference of physical media is due to its retention of value, then the two are very much contradictory. If it's some other motivation, e.g. the "feel" of a book, then I agree with you.

You're assuming rare physical versions of digitally available media don't hold value. It seems logical that they would, but I'm not so sure that's always what's happening out there. Digital availability of old video games might even be increasing demand for physical versions as more people become aware and interested. Dead tree book publishers and rare book dealers don't appear to be getting the same courtesy, though the art market is bananas despite (or maybe partly because of) high res reproductions of everything being free and at the ready.

I feel like it's too difficult to find a good control to measure this kind of thing.

edit: I missed your "digitally available" part, which doesn't apply here at all. The whole point is that the value of the physical object could be de-valued by its digital availability in this case, just like how people claim they prefer physical media because it holds some of its value.

I agree with this, because it's a niche of a niche. There's a huge difference in prototypes vs. just vintage physical games I would think.

He should hold an auction for Cocoron before dumping it, then hang on to it, refund the buyer, dump the game, and auction it off again a year later. Fans get their game and us internet b-holes get data.

Yes. The hardware is interesting, but it's currently sold exclusively though a known hack for ridiculous money, apparently to fund further development while overcharging for beta kits.

Rough cut hole, and you have to hack up your HDMI cable for it to even fit. Total amateur hour on a $500 system.

Physical objects do hold an intrinsic value due to physical scarcity. That is the the point of limited editions.

Anyone who is in a position to purchase PC Cocoron is a collector and wants to buy it because it is a physical object. Releasing a digital version will not stop this.
