So we move all the poor people out of Baltimore and relocate them close to a farm? Which farm? Who pays them? How much? What happens to the people already working on that farm? What happens to the business in the city that these poor people shopped at? There are some other questions too.

These are all fair questions, but they pale in comparison to a growing (in more ways than one) population that has no chance of being able to afford its medical costs.

The biggest driver of our costs is unhealthy habits. The mountain who can't take care of itself needs to go on a diet.

The biggest driver of our costs are the unhealthy habits of big pharma and the litigious nature of our society. Both could certainly use some slimming.

It would be pretty hard for big pharma to sell drugs that healthy people don't need, and doctors can't be accused of malpractice for treating ailments that never occurred. The starving lawyer side effect would just be a bonus.

I'm all for preventative care. Unfortunately insurance agencies don't pay that way, and pharma has no problem at all selling drugs that people don't need.

I think relocating poor blacks to a southern farm won't draw any parallels to anything unpleasant and will go over wonderfully both economically, and socially.

I think there are already large restrictions on what you can buy with food stamps. Like I don't think you can get sugary drinks even.

I'm not really interested in setting up huge government programs to micromanage lives of poor people. It strikes me as degrading and probably counterintuitive in the end. If the man told me I can't eat XYZ I will probably spend more time trying to get XYZ.

Most TANF money doesn't even get spent on giving poor people money - i.e. welfare. States just use it for bullshit.
