Justi has been rewatching it over the last year and it has intensified in recent weeks. On her birthday I asked her if she wanted to do anything and she said "order Chinese and watch X Files all day". Catching eps while I'm otherwise internetting, seems like a 70/30 split of good to bad.

I'm really enjoying the reboot - though I hadn't watched the 8th and 9th seasons though, so I'm clearly missing quite a few plot points. The only very odd thing bothering me is that it sounds in a few scenes like they were using a microphone that picked up a lot of hissing. There's a few spots where mulder and scully are dialoguing in hallways and their voices sounds really weird - not sure if this was some sort of digital transfer issue/etc. Who knows!
But anyway, enjoying seeing the cast again.

Actual line from the second episode: "I know you Want to Believe™, Mulder! You Want to Believe™ so badly that The Truth is Out There™!"
This show kinda blows. Is Emily someone I was supposed to remember from back in the day or does this show just like to answer questions it forgot to ask?

First episode was bad. They had to play catch up, explain the characters to some new audiences, I get it. It was fucking bad though. Plot was shit, acting was shit, dialogue was shit. Nothing good about it. I mean, over a decade of not working for the FBI and for basically no good enough reason they're back. Terrible, college level shit.
Episode 2 was awesome.

Yeah, yeah, exactly. I mean, I don't know why it's only going to be 6 shows - seems like once they get to the 4th episode or so it will really gain steam again. I knew the first episode would be sort of ridiculous, because the first episode of the series was ridiculous. Why wouldnt the FBI use the office for 12 years??? and then he kicked the poster!! :( :( :(

To me the value of the first episode was to bring the overarching plot line to the present, and I thought it did a good job at that. I certainly didn't expect the conspiracy curveball, but it certainly fits better with 21st Century worries. There was definitely some painful dialog and acting involved in delivering the message though. I haven't watch the second episode yet, so I am glad to hear it's back on track more fully.

I just kept waiting for Troy and Ahbed in the morning to start during the first ep

First episode should have been stretched over 2 episodes so there was some breathing room. The 2nd episode was just okay, on par with a below average older episode.
It's shot way worse than it used to be, and the writing doesn't feel as natural, but overall they're doing a pretty good job of making it feel like X-files, particularly with the score. It still has the potential to be really good.

I realized that last night when I was thinking about it - it's so bright compared to the old X-Files!!!! I wonder if the leap in television technology is adversely affecting our vision of what we are used to?

I think it's more than just being in HD. The atmosphere is a bit off as is the dialogue. I will keep watching, though. I wonder how many people from Continuum will appear in this. I have seen three so far.
