The ARG Ghostbusters: Dimension VR setup in NYC looks pretty rad. The props/sets/physical effects put the presentation pretty high up, as far as these things are concerned.

Like $50 a go, though.
I'm sure that's about the max I'm looking to spend on VR-anything going forward. Sounds fair, if it's a well-curated experience.
Thinking on it, super-gory ARG Paintball seems like it would be a winner.
now that I've tried PSVR Move stuff more... it's about what I expected, unfortunately. They aren't reliable. They kinda-sorta work. Where Vive and Touch are rock-solid 1:1 representations of your hands in VR, these things are weird ghost-hands that kind of mimic your own but not really, and they're more prone to tracking errors than the PSVR headset (we had someone shooting with one arm 6ft above their head until we turned off a lamp, lol).
I'm kind of worried that it will cause people to assume that VR motion controls are throwaway Wiimote/Kinect stuff. Maybe that's harsh, but the reliable Touch and Vive controllers bring a ton of possibilities when it comes to new mechanics (I'm even talking action game stuff, not just slower-paced adventure games) and I don't want to see those swept away from multiplatform VR games.
Jackass hype technology is janky, shock.

People were noting issues with Move back when it came out, issues that even the Wii Motion+ did not.
Still don't know why they went that way. Probably had a warehouse full of unsold Moves.
If PSVR survives long enough to hold commercial interest, Sony's going to put out new controllers and a new camera. The good news is, that's not a hard thing to do and it doesn't negate the investment in the headset.
I got down with PSVR for a few hours this weekend. I'm lovin' it! I have a Rift and a Vive, but I think this is the system that I'll end up using more often. This is partly because I'm just more down with console gaming, but I think the whole experience feels polished. And I'm still lost in the content so far.
I hadn't really read these details before getting it myself, but the whole setup basically expects you to be seated about 6 feet directly in front of your TV (assuming your camera is setup at your TV). My couch is like 12 ft from the screen and this distance was too far. From what I can tell, they basically assume you're gonna lean within a range of a couple feet, and turn around a bit. I haven't played anything that requires you to stand up, not sure if Batman VR expects that or something. I couldn't figure out a way to turn off sound to the TV while in VR, which seems a bit dumb. Maybe this is a feature they'll add later, or maybe I couldn't find the setting.
Rez Infinite instantly made it worth it for me. It really feels like the game was designed for this from the outset. There's a level of intensity that I never felt by playing it before, no amount of surround sound can invoke that feeling. I've only played 1 stage a session so far, trying to stretch it out as long as I can. My finger's hella sore from hitting X by the end of each stage, and the game's overwhelming at times because it can be difficult to see bullets outside of your peripheral vision. You have to be more actively aware than on a screen, where you can see everything at once. I felt like the boss battles took me 2x longer to get through.
I got the launch bundle so I checked out a bit of VR Worlds. The Heist is as amazing as the hype led me to believe. I don't have much prob with the Move controllers. I never used them on PS3, but they seem to work fine if you're lighting situation and distance from camera is appropriate. I'd love to play a new Getaway in this style. I hope Sony London is doing it. Ocean's Descent is kinda played out by this point, but something I can show my parents. I feel like by this point, everyone should have some sort of baseline VR experience that Ocean's Descent presents. I have to call out the menu for VR Worlds to be amazing. It's a bit fuzzy low-res, but amazing quality of lighting and the interactivity of the sphere in front of you feels great with the DS4. I haven't checked out the other mini-games yet.
Thumper on the demo disk blew my friggin mind. I had always wrote the game off as another Guitar Hero/Amplitude clone. What I didn't realize that it's like traveling though an audio/visual trip. The sound fits with the visuals, which fits with the gameplay. I feel like it's a child of Rez's school of cohesion with the audio/sound/gameplay. From my initial thinking it doesn't seem that great for VR, but I don't think it would be as interesting on a flat screen.
I tried a bit of Here We Lie, and the presentation is amazing. I got it on a whim since Game Informer praised it but don't know much about it. Seems like a walking sim, but it's got an intense vibe about the world. Got creeped out so quit shortly into it, haha. I tried the Kitchen demo and it was too creepy for me, with the lady all up in my grille. I'll try it again it during daylight, it'll feel less creepier to me psychologically that way. haha. Designers are really loving putting people all uncomfortably close up in your grille. Like "Whoooa, 3D!" I figure that'll pass but I expect a lot of that in RE7.
I tried the Drive Club demo and was really disappointed with how low-res they made the graphics. Really unfortunate, because it looks pretty nice considering and it plays pretty well. I hope GT Sport, or whatever, delivers with a solid VR experience. And I ain't getting no PS Pro! ;)
I still have Until Dawn and Batman VR to check out. So far, so good!
Oh, and Thumper fucking rules. A really clever game, the more you dig into it. All it needs is an arcade mode.
At best (once we got the lighting hiccup sorted out), the Move controllers felt like puppet arms to me. They're functional, but they still aren't "lightgun good" at aiming going by Until Dawn (Vive and Touch are) and I was having some issues toying around with the clips in the Heist shooting range.
Did you run into any slowdown in Rez? As SSJN said, the demo disc build that Joust and I tried is an older build of the game. I'm waiting for my physical copy lol.
