Game Informer has a 2 page review (30" controller cord, WTF!) for the system. You can bet that they wanted to push it at their retail chains. Like I'd said earlier, Amazon would have easily ordered half a million of the NES CE.

Why is anyone surprised by this? Nintendo has been playing this game since the 1980s.
Just judging from the initial reaction this thing was going to be a monster hit. There's no fucking way Amazon and GameStop just decided not to order that many.

I dunno, if it was the usual artificial shortage strategy they bungled it. Step one is pumping up demand and hype by having it "sold out" everywhere, step two is flooding the market right before Christmas. But they forgot step two. I think they must have legitimately thought it was a niche product.
if they'd thought it was niche, I doubt they'd have bothered developing it in the first place.
It might just be a stunt to bolster their brand.
The sale of aforementioned $5 roms.

There aren't any spare buttons on the pad, though. Does that mean the other buttons on the Wii classic controller can be used for stuff now?
He's thinking down+select on a gamepad. Not sure for the classic controller.
They should be able to program something like "hold up, start, select, a, and b to reset to home."
