yup. nailed it.
I was just talking with my mom about my upcoming semester at the UC, and realized that I may be stepping into an ideological minefield. Although I'm a sociology major, I really value neutrality and moderation in thought processes. However, it seems that this is wildly unpopular in campus settings right now, especially in the humanities fields......so I wonder how I'll fare in the weeks and months to come. I'm especially curious to see if the extremist attitudes are mostly held by under-achieving students as it was at my former school in a conservative area. Or, if the professors tend to be on the more extreme side as well. I guess we'll see!
Trump appointed a former dean of DeVry University to the education department as head of a new unit intended to police fraud in higher education.
DeVry just settled a fraud case for $100m. They're synonymous with precisely the brand of fraud this unit is supposed to combat.
This is the swampiest appointment yet. I love how he continues to refer to Washington as "the swamp," by the way. You're filling the seats, bro.
Maybe it's one of those deals like the F.B.I. hiring hackers to combat hackers. Who better knows the ins and outs of collegiate fraud than someone that's committed collegiate fraud?
Is this clown show going to be able to put Madoff in charge of the Security and Exchanges Commission?
Wait I know, he'll commute his sentence and then do it, is that how we do things now?
He's likes the swamp, apparently, Maybe that's why he signed the EO repealing regulations against flooding, right in the middle of hurricane season. Now there's plenty of swamp in Texas!
I hope the VP doesn't repeat his Katrina bullshit with Houston. We don't "offset" the cost of a $13 billion aircraft carrier when we need one, so I should think that money for disasters would be something we'd be willing to budget for without having to cut something else that might be vital.
Dude I hear the psyops have gotten so deep, there are actually people on the left posting on social media & dressing up as AntiFa to false-flag the Alt-Right false-flagging the Alt-Left!
Not only that, but there is significant evidence tying Alex Jones to shilling for George Soros. And get this... both are controlled by The Rothschilds who ultimately yield to the whims of the Bogdanoff twins whose final intent may never be known...
I don't know how to take anything you say anymore, but the (pre)anti-fa/black bloc stuff during occupy (and maybe ever since) has been a false flag.
That's not to say there aren't extreme leftists doing it now, but we all know where it came from... right?
The lizard people who are scamming us into believing the Earth is round?
How to defraud students as a private school isn't the same kind of specialized, highly technical knowledge as hacking. Anyone following these cases knows how it was done. These companies just invented graduation and placement rates out of thin air. This ain't hacking a Gibson, blood.
Besides, Donald really doesn't know how to run anything other than his mouth, as evidenced by his staff since he's been in office.
This is one of the better images I've seen recently:

Unless you're Spiderman.
lol I don't think his ideology makes him hide.
I think it should be more like "If your ideology makes you hide your face, you may be an extremist" but I guess coward is okay too.
Extremism, cowardice. Same coin.
Trump is crying like a little bitch
https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...=.e5d4bf806f59
Well EYE heard so and so said this about whose-it and then you know who did you know what.
Wait, wait, wait. This just in.
People close to Joust Williams say that he has to have a finger or three in his ass every day or he is just as gloomy as can be.
May as well just put your whole fist in there at that point.
OK but in the meantime it warms the cockles of my heart that the utter disrespect that people Trump looks up to have for him, as well as the disappointment that people aren't just kissing his shoes, is killing him slowly. If he doesn't get booted out of office, he'll just die instead.
Low energy.
nah, superheros have always covered their faces to protect their private lives and the one's they love.
The whole point of superman's suit, other than being rad in the 1920s or something was so people wouldn't know he was really clark kent and threaten him by kidnapping/killing ma and pa kent or Lane.
Also, counter point, the brown coats murdered jews in the street with their faces uncovered. And the Bolsheviks did all their revolutioning and murdering uncovered too. Oh, and the mob. And most gangs. And so on and so forth.
But hey, at least everyone in that basement, when the communist gunned down the czar's children and stabbed them to death, all had uncovered faces.
So manly.
Trump ends DACA
http://thehill.com/homenews/administ...h-delay-report
Piece of shit
This is an uncharacteristically shrewd move for Trump. He gets to tell his base he canceled the program, but by delaying it he gives Congress the chance to rescue the "dreamers" by changing DACA from executive order to law, which if they do will save him from the full brunt of the broader public's condemnation AND turn his base further against the R leadership, making at least some of the "establishment" Rs easier to primary and replace with full-blown Trumplodytes. Of course it could also backfire spectacularly if they decide holding on to the flaming racist scumbag vote is more important than not alienating literally everyone else... so it's basically ACA repeal* all over again, only this time passing a bill is the right thing to do, so it'll be harder than not passing one was then.
*not calling ACA opponents racist here (though certainly that is the reason for at least some), just saying they're a comparably vocal minority
Maybe opponents just understand that the executive branch shouldn't be ignoring laws, let alone trying to write its own. It should have been forced to go through Congress in the first place.
It's interesting that you also brought up Obamacare, since that's a similar example of picking and choosing what to enforce.
Here's the thing about DACA. It's completely lawless. Congress did not pass the DREAM Act, signaling the clear intent of the legislative branch. Obama's response was to implement the DREAM Act. In a country founded ostensibly on the rule of law, this should have caused a massive outrage. From a President who is a Constitutional scholar it defies belief. I understand he was frustrated by the inaction and uselessness of Congress but hey, welcome to the club.
If we want DACA then we need Congress to pass a law telling the executive branch to implement DACA. Period. I personally am not opposed to the idea of the DREAM Act but as DACA stands right now it has to go.
The word law is racist. A country founded on the rule of law is White Privilege.

republicans
Don't go into STEM, folks, you'll be beaten out by these dimwits
World exploded yet?
Can someone explain to me why republicans deny climate change when their golden calf, the us military, has reported that it is real and one of their top chalenges going forward?
Let me rephrase that, the most powerful conservative body of people on this earth, with the power to kill us all several times over, says it is real and a threat.
What more is there to talk about?
Those in charge dictate what is real.
I'm gonna need some sauce on that, Luigi.
Also according to those graphs, climate change only started to rise in the 60's. Clearly this is a result of all those feminist bra burnings.
Don't worry. When Trump closes the EPA, the climate will get back on track.
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...chmentid=80785
The EPA is already (intellectually) closed, look at the guy who heads it
Global warming has picked up since Bitcoin showed up. Obviously it's Bitcoin's fault.
You have any idea how much electricity those things burn? Liberals and libertarians are destroying this planet!!
I love how everyone is sharing Obama's letter to Trump. The people I know are making self-satisfied snarky remarks like, "You should listen to this advice, Trump!" Implying that Trump is ignoring what Obama said. Idiots. New President can't read!
He has people who read for him.
Of course, he can't read anything beyond Highlights.
The Fake News is circulating a bogus letter. In the video, you can clearly see Obama delivering 2 letters which he instructed Trump to open on any crisis he faced. The first letter said, "Blame me." The second said, "Write two letters."
Trump is on like crisis 5 and hasn't written any letters for Pence, yet.
Didn't Trump admit he doesn't read?
Most managers don't read or read poorly.
I sort of expect my Presidents to be fairly well-read, but I will settle for simply literate now
At least he isn't black tho amirite
I can see it now.
President Trump is reading out loud: "Jack and Jill ... went up the hill ... To fetch? A pail of ... water." He puts the book down, his face red from a combination of exertion and anger. Turning to his Vice President, Mike Pence, he yells, "This is fake news. They went up the hill to have sex! Boring!"
A couple people, including his biographer Tony Shultz have claimed he may have never read a book in his adult life.
Trump is able to read, he's just too stupid and narcissistic to feel like he needs to learn. I also think he has bad vision and is too vain to wear glasses.
Obama on DACA situation:

When you have an IQ as high as Trump, reading through visual symbol recognition may not be the most efficient use of your time. Trump prefers to gain knowledge through direct photosynthesis. All that orange on his face? That's pure consolidated knowledge. There's a whole library on his face, man.
I miss having a President that can express himself above a 3rd grade level.
I appreciate having one that understand economics above a third grade level.
I appreciate a POTUS who understands a nation is built on adherence to law and not wavering subjective moral relativism.
Doc on philosophy sucks.
Doc is trolling. Half of everything Trump has said or done (and he's done basically nothing) has been against law.
Getting rid of DACA is not part of that.
So the one thing he's done that wasn't against law is something that almost everyone thinks he shouldn't have and only existed in the form that it did because Congress has been completely inept for years
That's good
So the President should enact lawless policy because feels? That will work well.
When some of the very people who couldn't get shit done to put a policy in place because they were too busy doing nothing are against reversing it after someone went over their heads, you know you probably goofed somehow. So yeah, sometimes you have to crack some eggs.
I remember when people on the left hated unlawful Presidential actions. It was that far gone age called the Bush administration.
Congress makes the laws. They didn't pass the DREAM Act. The President can't implement it just because Congress isn't doing what he wants.
I can't speak for everyone, but maybe they hated really shitty ones, and that was the point
Except that's just politics man. It all depends on the feels, like I said. If everyone thinks the guy on their team can usurp the law just because its for some shit they like then we are all fucked.
There was no politics, the politics was a bunch of five year olds that couldn't get over it. I'd be inclined to agree with you if SOMETHING was done, but no, nothing was ever done, and to this day half of what comes out of these assholes' god damn mouths is Hillary and Obama, and neither one of them are anywhere near office.
That isn't politics, that's just total stupidity and pettiness. That's what gets me.

"Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can't, I will revisit this issue!"
I wonder why they didn't? HMM
Can we talk about congress trying to tie up the federal budget with the hurricane Harvey funding?
If they drag their feet long enough they could just wait for Irma.
My boss is a jazz saxophonist. It's unbearable.
Literally the worst instrument.
Treasuretroll.jpg and all, but do we have a good guess what his IQ is? I'm aware there's a bunch of fake news out there about this. A lot of people don't realize that high IQ isn't an indicator for ability to communicate and it would be funny if he really was up there with most of us on here.
So here's a question (technically two, but still) for you two because you may not realize you're on the same side. It is one that asshole conservatives and sissy liberals both voice: These kids who were brought here illegally - why don't they just apply for citizenship? My grandparents got here and did it the right way, so why don't they?
I'm legitimately interested in your feelings/links on the matter.
You're the worst instrument.
How the fuck is a 5 year old going to pass that test?
Yes, something does make them more special: it wasn't their choice. That's the whole point.
I have objections to the way DACA was codified too, but to put minors who had no say on the same legal stratum as the parents who made the decision for them flies in the face of how laws work. In what other context would we hold children and their parents equally accountable for a crime?
This circles back to:
Put your mind grapes to work.
What are the main reasons we are concerned about the concept of citizenship? What does the process of becoming a citizen entail?
What I'm trying to get at is: Disconnect your brain from "it's the law" for a moment and look at why it's the law. Think about that, then think about how the law could be better. Everything can be better than it currently is.
If only Obummer tried harder
Because DACA is the only thing that allows them to do that and Trump is taking it away... That's literally the whole reason we're even having this discussion.
There's this naive assumption people seem to have that those coming here illegally are simply passing up some legal option because it's too much trouble. These people don't have a legal option, and Trump is looking to restrict immigration even further, making it all but impossible for the overwhelming majority to ever live here legally no matter what they do.
There is no legal way, unless you're relatively affluent and educated. Particularly if you are a young person who came here as a child, it's not as if you can simply go home to a country you don't remember, whose language you don't speak, finish college, and get a job that pays $100,000 a year so you can apply to come back to the only country you've ever known. Some of these people were literally adopted as babies by Americans. If you deport someone like that back to Korea or whatever they'll just be homeless or die. It's insanely unreasonable to expect them to do that.
I feel like people are just being purposefully dense about this. If rule of law is important, then part of that is setting rules and standards that are reasonable. Our immigration rules are presently very unreasonable and that's created problems. There needs to be a legal alternative to illegal immigration and there simply isn't in most cases.
If a guy robs a bank and plans to use the proceeds of his crime to pay for his kid's college, is that cool with you? Better still, I'd be shocked if you weren't in favor of ridiculous inheritance taxes. Should those kids be punished for their parent's success, and it is only crimes that can be passed along as-is to progeny?
You mean you have to actually offer something in return for all of the benefits you're asking to receive? What a concept!
Sounds like a job for Congress.Quote:

#1, this in no way is similar to robbing a bank.
#2, estate taxes are largely there because more than 50% of the money in those estates being taxed consist of unrealized capital gains. And the tax is only on estates larger than 5.45 million.
Yeah, I've read that propaganda too. Tell it to the parents of those some of them have murdered.
There is exactly one reason Obama tried to circumvent the law for these people, and it had nothing to do with compassion. It was to create more voters enslaved by the government, period.
You need a spotless criminal record to qualify for DACA. You're going full Hannity now.
The court wouldn't ask the kid to pay back or somehow give back his education though. If the guy stole a loaf of bread and gave it his kid, nobody is asking the kid to puke it up or pay restitution.
You're proving the point you're trying to refute.
