Ah, the great old days.

No joking here. It's been obvious for a while what kind of person Kavanaugh is, and I would be happy to know that he and his supporters all get dismissed from their positions with a steel mace to the skull. I'm sick to fucking death of these shitbags, and the current narrative of "Oh, rape is just a boys' game and you can't hold it against them" has completely annihilated any patience I was still pretending to have.
He's probably not wrong. People double down on ideas that they have invested their own time or suffering into. Its kind of like those guys that say their $6000 guitar sounds the best. A lot of those guys are vested in keeping that myth up both for their own ego and to prop up the market if they resell.
They were raped or molested and have a vested interest in it "being a nothing" so they won't take the hit to their egos.
I'll go to that Largo thing if I can, but I won't be voting for anyone.
The only bummer is that I'll have to suffer some Apatow standup, and he sucks dix at telling jokes on a stage.
That’s a very colonial mindset. Have you thought about decolonizing your mind? https://womanstats.wordpress.com/201...-saudi-arabia/
Bret Kavanaugh is coming off like a bad high school comedy character, like Billy Madison.
Yeah Brett's Out. lol
B.O.
Trump really doesn’t like the GOP. Waiting until after the election to nominate a judge would have:
A) Made Trump look like he was letting the people choose
B) Given Republicans incentive to go out and vote, keeping GOP held seats
Instead, Trump nominates a beta fag who can be painted as a creep and give Democrats a reason to go to the polls and Republicans disgusted enough to stay home. My money is on Trump wanting the Democrats to win. 9³D Chess.
Yeah, I'll let you know when I get my box of power in the mail.
He wanted them to win before he got elected, most definitely. He'd be sitting pretty at his own personal InfoWars, where he could just whine about Hillary to a rapt audience, unencumbered by any need to produce anything of substance himself.
Actually, that's pretty well in line with what the Republican party at large really wants, in their heart of hearts. I mean, they want to win so they have the numbers to pass their regressive legislation, but their party's power position is those little moments where they're on the outs and they can just bitch on the sidelines about how oppressed they are and how everything Dems are doing is the worst thing ever; It creates a very handy smokescreen around the fact their solutions are either far worse or simply nonexistent. They fucking loathe actually having to make presentations to the class that'll be scrutinized and graded, they just want to heckle.
Pretty good analogy
Half of them don't even really want to pass the shit. Does anyone believe that mckain believed all that shit he ran on? His wife and daughter were openly prolbgt.
Have of the Repubs are conmen that have no plans of making good on bullshit. And the other half are crazy.
I just wish the conmen knew or cared that they are destroying the country. They gamble that the bs will be stopped while they play the hero and get to keep their job but what about when they aren't stopped?
MacCane.
Your mother.
Ma Kain.
MKKKain-ULTRA
Too true. I don't believe that Trump believes even a half of what he's saying. He's both of the above in one. A crazy conman.
If the Democrats land a major upset in November, I bet on him trying to blame another country for hacking/rigging the election. China? If not that, he'll at least cry for recounts.
He is already doing that
And I am sure that Russia will leave a hack behind so that Trump can say, "See? Russia is for the Dems! NO one ia tougher on Russia than me! Fake news media: SAD!" or some bumbling shit that dimbass "conservatives" will eat up
This Kavanaugh shit is reaching a fever pitch, there are at least 5 accusations flying around now. One says he raped a women on a boat in Rhode Island and got his ass kicked.
EDIT: six
Is any of this real? I mean, come right the fuck on Planet Earth. This is WILDLY UNREALISTIC
I mean, the stakes are high like a really tall cow right now, so I can understand just throwing anything and everything against the wall to see what sticks.
That's kinda exactly what I'm doing these days. And it works?
Choke their rivers with your dead!
I don't have to listen to any of those people, bro. I can hear the entitlement in your voice.
*looks at video*
OH WOW HE IS SO ANGRY
60% of the time, it works every time
LOL @ those tears. Bruh, I'm a professional emotion faker. I know it when I see it.
Also, all I can think about right now is an incident from when I was in high school.
One of my friends, to another friend: "Dude, you are a really aggressive, angry guy."
Other friend: "NO I'M NOT SHUT UP I'LL KILL YOU FOR SAYING THAT!"
Honestly, this is fucking ridiculous. All this time and energy on a guy who is very, very, very clearly guilty and will get the seat anyway. Ford has to go through all this, and he'll be sworn in by the end of the year or st. I feel really sorry for anyone who lives with Kav, he's a lunatic.
This is a circus. Politics should be illegal.
Team A interviewee = Team B critical questioning + Team A flattery and confirmation questioning “Am I right? You are right.”
Team B interviewee = Team A critical questioning + Team B flattery and confirmation questioning “Am I right? You are right.”
Seriously WTF Trump?? We’re talking about puking up beer, now. I’m guessing he’s going for the sympathy vote on who’s the biggest victim.
It's always effective to alternate between screaming and sobbing during your opening statement.
This shit is a political circus and Reality TV POTUS is delivering good Reality TV, but this guy is allowing himself to get worked over and does not need to be a judge.
Nah, one side is on the correct side on this one. Pretty easy to see, really.
The women in this pic:

Agree. I sure hope they don't give that potential lifetime seat to Captain Crocodile Tears. Of course, if he is guilty, why wouldn't he try to play a victim? He's clearly desperate, he'll try anything. I feel Ford is telling the truth, especially if she refused to back down after the hell she went through.
Spoiled rich boys sure stick together. Lindsey Graham ranted about the hearing, trying to paint Kavanaugh as a victim & saying it's an "unethical sham" that Democrats are using for political purposes. Also he says that the Dems are hoping to stall an appointment until 2020. He's got this so wrong. It's only fair. What Kavanaugh did is unforgivable when he's seeking that position. Shove it, Graham.
Obama didnt get his pick in because "reasons" but this guy might get in despite being a rapist.
I hope the West Coast secedes from this shithole country. Eastern Washington can go away too.
I'm leaving as soon as I am able. The United States is now, literally Idiocracy.
I may return in 30 years if something has been done. That's how I feel anyway. I have no idea what will happen next.
Justi and I are moving to Iceland as soon as our parents are dead.
I really hope you make it! I'm set on der Hague in Der Nederlands atm.
You keep drive-by saying this yet by and large one group establishes largely good environmental, education, etc legislation and one side does not. I dont care if theyre dping this in the name of 6D chess or whatever the hell, its an absolute fact. No amount of opinion pieces or dank memes is going to change that.
Can someone shoop the Budweiser logo over Kavanaugh looking happy?
Also, Kavanaugh's wife looks just like Maura Tierney.
Meh, I wouldn't be surprised if the women are lying. But what does he expect after his thoughts on abortion? Women are tired of this shit.
his mom and I have the same hair, lol
Theoretical question: If Kav was as invested in his family's well being as he says, wouldn't the moral thing to do would to withdraw one's own nomination in the interest of preserving your family's image and privacy? Like "if this is what my job interview looks like, maybe this job can get fucked?" Who would even willingly go through with this? If he bowed out before today, he'd have his position and reputation secured. If he doesn't get confirmed, he's ruined for the rest of his life, AND his family is ruined.
IDK. I'm seeing a lot of moderate right personalities whose takes I generally like completely take Kav's side, which I do not agree with. If the moderates are siding with him, I think we can figure where this is going. Just what a huge waste of time and money.

He'll probably get it just as a protest to the idea that anyone old should be held accountable for their teen years.
If he didn't do it then isn't this political coersion (via lying), and wouldn't a judge need to face that for the good of law and order? I actually by default tend to believe rape allegations. I'm not well read enough yet to have come to any conclusions but allegedly Dr. Ford's declared witnesses aren't backing up her account.

From what I understand the investigators just need circumstantial corroboration to invalidate a nominee.
Something about The Left. (I'm actually surprised the name, "George Soros," didn't pass his lips.)
I grew up poor so this is a guess based on the fairly well-off kids around me, but, "Here are my accomplishments, I deserve this," was something they did all the time. He believes he has earned a SCOTUS spot. It's now somewhat endangered so he's lashing out. And make no mistake about it - the claims about his family are part of his list of accomplishments. He doesn't actually care, that was clear from the fake crying. I may not know what wealth & entitlement are like, but I know the show he put on all too well.
You don't need to read anything, dude. Just watch his opening statement. You technically don't even need to watch hers, really, though I can tell you that her testimony did not set off any alarms - so, for comparison.
EDIT: He was indignant about most of the questions, too, and didn't take them seriously. I think Klobuchar was trying to ask him a really serious one, and he Doc'd like a mf. "What kind of beer do you like?" or something along those lines.
So I assume everyone on tnl believes the accusations?
I can't say either way but it doesn't surprise me. I knew someone would try to block this when he refused to be honest and direct when asked his thoughts on abortion and how he would rule on it.
These guys think they're entitled to these jobs and the job itself is just a game of chess with the "other" or some kind of football game. They don't think for a second about how it impacts people and what they might do to retaliate.
So fuck him even if it's all lies. This is the bed you make when you feel entitled to control other people's bodies.
I had resigned myself to him getting confirmed so I didn't really care prior to yesterday beyond a general disgust for morons who think women would lie about something like that in such a grand fashion.
After viewing his opening statement, though, I'm pretty sure he straight up remembers assaulting her.
EDIT: I forgot to mention - I was listening on CSPAN and they take calls during the recesses. A woman called in and said something like, "She said that the remembered X the most, but she also said she remembers Y the most, and I think Y would be more memorable so that calls her credibility into question for me." The problem with America in a nice little package, right there. That dude who takes the calls on CSPAN, though? I really want to know how he lets off steam. Between the prank calls and the idiots, there's no way he's not stuffing all that into some dark corner of his mind.
Oh, he'll get the job. All these Fucks have a vested interest in the idea that everything before your first career job doesn't matter.
It has been proven that he lied multiple times during this period, so yea I belive the accusations. He's only here to get Trump and his cronies free from investigation and jail time.
A little story, having grown up New Haven adjacent.
As a kid, the "joke" about the town of East Haven was "don't drive there while black!" We had a vague awareness that their police were awful to POC - BUT, the joke was mainly employed to tease kids from East Haven and, I guess, a tongue-in-cheek thing to our friends of color. Some years back, the FBI had to crack down on the town's police force and it turns out they were even worse than the joke would imply (if I recall correctly, two officers received convictions and the others got deals for cooperating). That supposed joke was rooted in reality.
Similarly, as a teenager, there were a couple of "jokes" about DKE. To girls - "Don't go to DKE parties unless you like gangbangs!" To siblings of members - "Heard DKE had a huge party on Saturday, what was your brother's rape total?" Much like the DWB joke, those were mainly employed as teasing. They, of course, were grounded in reality. Several classmates of mine wanted to go to Yale specifically to join that frat, their stated reason being all the easy girls they could take advantage of. A couple of them "succeeded" in that goal so well they ended up in jail. I believe DKE recently had to sell their frat house and Yale has excomm'ed them. Every dude I've ever met who was part of that frat is the worst kind of person and always said at least one thing that made me cringe. Anecdotal, I know, but still.
If Kav was a member of DKE then I'm surprised there aren't MORE accusations against him now that steam is building. I'll be interested to see whether there are a ton of women waiting and performing risk calculations about coming forward.
I wouldn't be surprised if more allegations to come forward as time pass (and especially if he gets the confirmation). This could get better and better.
Really, we should do this to everyone in office. So many of the elites come from groups that think they are owed this shirt because of their family and women, etc are their play things.
Prior to this hearing, my wife couldn't recall ever being assaulted.
Yesterday, she critically analyzed some actions of a "friend" in high school. She thankfully avoided an actual assault, but from what she described it was heading that way. Dude exhibited predatory behavior and grooming. So glad she didn't experience a physical violation, but so angry hearing how obviously rapey the guy was.
She doesn't remember his last name but she does recall how rich his family was. From what she can recall, two girls ended up pressing charges against him for some kind of assault.
*shudder*
Dude, this stuff is all over the place. What do you think half those guys were doing that bragged about all the puss they pulled down in hs? Do you really believe they were natural charmers?
I really believe losers that got no puss in high school want to believe all the ones that did, did so because rape and money.
Not really.
He's just painting with some very broad strokes. I'm absolutely, positively sure people were abused by entitled rich kids.
I don't believe it was as many as he thinks.
As previously mentioned, I went to a private school. There were a lot of upper middle class and some of us lower middle class. The sporty, handsome rich dudes didn't have to do much more than say "hi" to most of the girls in the school to get them to peel off their jeans.
half, all, what's the difference when you're being hyperbolic.
50% ?
Okay, yeah, that's how I was reading it. The "I DESERVE THIS" screaming. Also interesting read about his family, yeah. Good observations! I did not grow up rich at all but my father was the black sheep of a well to-do family and I see some of that behavior replicated in his siblings.
IP - As far as believing the accusations, this is a tough one to explain. I think that she clearly was assaulted, and I assumed as soon as this went public that others would corroborate the claims and come out with their own, which they did. I agree with the Repubs that Feinstein bungled the shit a bit. I think that she was in a tough spot and I understand that but I also am sensing the the Dems are using yet another really shitty situation as 4D chess pieces. And, they are doing it badly. I believe both parties are complicit in creating a really awful environment for both the victim and accused, and this will have lasting effects on both parties and the people on the stand. I want to believe that there is a better way to handle this - but if Feinstein would have brought the letter to law enforcement (FBI etc) originally, would it have been investigated fairly? IDK. I kind of doubt no. I think we as a society handle sexual assault and rape situations very badly (as evidenced by so many metoo stories) and it's not surprising that a potential SCOTUS would be exempt from this situation.
Another theoretical scenario banging around in my head - if Kav was innocent, and this was just a big democrat circus, look what both he and Ford just experienced. This is totally totally theoretical, but just put on your "Kav is 100% innocent" imagination hat, if you can. This was broadcast on live TV. How many of you have a job interview broadcasted on live TV? Why was this done in public? Again, imagination hat - say Ford was mistaken about her situation. Say she has the wrong guy. Essentially she was subject to a live police report, to be tried in the court of media. Again, have you ever filed a police report that was televised to millions?
This is how we are dealing with the situation. Regardless of the truth of sides, we have subjected two individuals to completely unrealistic standards of justice, employment conditions, and god knows what else. This is how we handle rape and sexual assault cases, like a fucking reality TV show. This should sicken everyone in America, that regardless of the guilt or innocence of either party, we're being incredibly callous with very serious scenarios. I don't know what the answer is, but this is not it.
Yeah, the prosecutor actually dunked on all those senators at the end of Ford's questions. That part where she described the forensic interview is completely the course of action that should have been taken, and while it's an extreme rebuke of Feinstein et al's stupid attempt to 'October Surprise' Kavanaugh's nomination, that extends to all of them for not holding up the proceedings to handle this appropriately. I forget the exact wording, but she asked Ford if anyone advised her to do the forensic interview - which, of course, is a no - and then called out the 5 minute format's usefulness.
One could argue refusing to ask the "I don't believe you" and "I think you are part of a conspiracy" questions would have been a better condemnation but the Democrats deserve blame for at least some of this, too.
And then Flake's masterful hoodwink. Wew!
It’s the pennicle of reality television. Judge Kavanaugh and Dr Ford may not have been acting, but they both knew they were performing on the national stage. When you perform for a job interview (and any court hearing really), none of it’s genuine or purely sincere, but this... this is on another level. This is peak reality TV. I wish the Jousts of the country and all partisan voters could see how they are manipulated by politicians, lately on a pure level of schadenfreude. But the shit is all show.
Ultimately, this is a fight over partisan control of what should be a non-partisan branch of the government.
None of the Congress really cares about the rape (however, it does validate Democrats in the eyes of their team).
The release of the accusations and hearings were delayed in an attempt to move the vote until after the election, in hopes the Democrats gain control of Congress.
Judge Kavanaugh wouldn’t agree to the FBI investigation, along those lines, because it would further delay the process and lessen his chance of getting confirmed.
Senator Feinstein using Dr Ford as a pawn, creating a pressure keg out of this crime, is shameless, but Senator McConnell started this mess delaying the Scalia replacement two years ago and created the vitriol among Democrats.
It’s shit Kavanaugh is going to get voted in, his temperament and irrational thinking has no place on the court. But the bigger problem is the complete lack of morals in Congress.
I don't really buy that a Senate hearing like this is actually taking an allegation of rape seriously. I also feel women are just as fallible and corrupted as men. Someone really left-leaning could absolutely go on the stand to prevent a judge appointed by the other team from taking a nomination. For that personality it makes them a hero. I'm not saying Dr. Ford is that personality, but that's the risk in going anecdotally "Oh no woman would make that up!" That's wrong, or at the very least it's not entirely right.
The line is taking the allegation seriously and looking in to it. In this case the witnesses she's given officials have so far denied or not corroborated her story. This very well could be because they were all in on it, etc, etc. But the occam's razor reality about these things mostly ends up on: the evidence just doesn't amount reasonable doubt (I haven't read enough about the accusations to know enough yet, though). Holding off on the nomination is the right outcome while the accounts are investigated. That's how they nailed Cosby.
I muat have missed the alternate reality where Al Franken was still a Senator.
lol
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
oh my days
The Ford one certainly. Maybe some of the other more realistic ones. The ones where he was conductor of the Roofie Express, lining people up and punching tickets for train rides, eh, little out there. Still a slight twinge of maybe there, but yeah that sounds much too theatrical.
The thing is, if he'd just admitted to drinking at the time and said that he didn't remember the incident clearly but certainly expressed great remorse if something did happen, he probably could have slipped out of the noose pretty easily. But he went the Trump route and doubled down on everything with the most over-the-top hyperbole. "Not only was I not drinking at that party, I never drank ever!" "Not only am I not guilty of sexual assault, but I had an inescapable Victorian celibacy vice crushing my genitals from toddlerhood until my marriage night!" And of course those ridiculous claims were swiftly debunked and he had to backpedal and change his story.
End of the day, you've got a guy who just couldn't tell a straightforward truth about innocuous life events that practically no one in modern society would even second-guess or shame him for, like underage drinking at a party and having premarital sex, but we're to believe he'd be a forthcoming bulwark of truthiness on the delicate subject of the rape allegations against him? Even if it really didn't happen, his testimony and his believability are well and truly fucked by the fact that he's already outed himself as a compulsive liar with shit he had no reason to lie about before he even got to addressing the actual crime part.
I wonder how much she’ll make off her book deal.

This is brilliant.

What I don't really get is what Republicans have invested in this dude. If they reject him, it's just going to be another Trump nominee. It isn't like dems will get to pick the guy. So if a conservative is basically guaranteed why the need to stonewall and protect a guy who is clearly a political liability?
Expediency, I expect.
Everyone is sharing that Pulp Fiction edit, claiming it's brilliant and funny. So what's wrong with me?
I could give you a laundry list of things, but they wouldn't be predicated on your enjoyment of a Pulp Fiction edit.
I walked right into that.
That's on the list.
I just read it as 'people are frustrated and grasping at straws, so a bad edit of Pulp Fiction is going to make them laugh'.
The 'caught you boys at breakfast' bit is really badly thought out, edit wise. Really takes you out of the idea that Sam Jackson is going to murder him.
New footage of meeting between Ford and Kavanaugh.
Man....every time I see that.....I think, he left us far too soon. RIP Raul, you prince of a man.
Yeah, that's a much better description.
You ever see this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhzjWfvsick
