I can't wait. I'm sharpening my guillotine blade as we speak.
Really depends on who starts the revolution. If its progressives, they'll come for the wealthy. If it's the conservatives, they will come for the educated and minorities.
If it kicks off, it kicks off, and then it doesn't matter much who came for who at first.
Bunch of fuckin' kids. No adults in that goddamned room.
Wait wait wait wait wait! After all I heard about Pelosi tearing up the speech, that was it? One little *shrip* and done, and then set aside neatly? Are people really that desperate for drama that such a small little act can set them off? The needle barely twitched on the drama-ometer and I keep on hearing about this? Why?
The dude next to him looks like he pissed in someone's coffee and and is watching them take a sip.
I'm no fan of Pelosi, but for the layman who isn't going to do much extracurricular research on any of his bluster, Trump's SOTU had the appearance of being really strong. There would have been a lot of positive talk about it, even a fair bit from liberal news to get 'look how unbiased we are!' brownie points. A few seconds of paper tearing took that away, I won't say it wasn't childish, but it was a damn effective "break glass in case of emergency" move to shift talk away from the actual speech.
Plus the Repubs loudly leading chants and hooting and booing like they were at a goddamn frat pledge party throughout the entirety of the SOTU really set a classy tone, I mean really, how dare someone drag down the proceedings with such nAkEd paRtiSanShiP.
American debates are often so hostile by the time a presidential candidate is selected they already look like assholes. I appreciated Buttigieg’s intelligent deflection of Biden’s kid back on Trump wrong-doing.
oooh i hates that rabbut
It's really sad to see liberals going in on dumb images like that. Shit does nothing and it's just more fodder for idiots to be like, "THoSe eLiTe LiBRuLS oN THeRE HiGH HoRSeS," about.
Within the month, North Korea's going to be back on the radar again, btw.
Why do you assume a liberal made that? Racist.
SNL isn't funny.
It's funny that it's still on the air. Odd funny. Not "HAHA" funny.
They'd do that if a lib dared to wear matching socks. They're gonna do it no matter what.
More and more I'm thinking that the real 'high horse' is, metaphorically speaking, being too good to climb down into a mud pit and just punch a fucker out when they deserve it. Trump's whole fake air of legitimacy owes a lot to thousands of people with megaphones that all really, really, realllllly want to call him out for being the idiot that he is just constantly biting their tongue to be 'respectful'. Trump and his base ain't ever gonna be humbled by people pussyfooting around on the high road like that.
And though memes should ideally do nothing... I think the amount of enthusiasm and eventual votes Trump got on the back of a concerted deluge of pro-Trump memery, and how much energy was sapped from Hillary from the opposite, would probably be depressingly significant if it were able to be concretely laid out.
Not gonna argue on that point. Decent sketches are few and far between, and the political ones are shit.
This. And not metaphorically. Everyone's still going around acting like the systems are going to work when the shit is broken. These are new problems and they won't be fixed by being civil and voting and doing protest marches. What we should be doing is descending on the homes of federal elected officials and Bezos and such in critical mass. Unfortunately, the economy is so stupid that the fear of losing job/not having healthcare/going to jail/etc. is enough to keep people from doing anything with real impact. This is not a land of revolution any more. So we tweet #RIPAmerica and try to dunk on fascists.
(And yes, I know the followup is, "Well why aren't you doing anything, Mr. Suddenly OK With Violence?" to which I say you don't know that I'm not but if I were I wouldn't admit to it in a public space.)
Hey, fear of losing your job is real when you are about 350k in the hole.
Maybe if the political left put as much effort into getting it's house in order and disowning the woke brigade as it does whining about memes and foreign influence, it could actually make some gains.
Very true!
Nah, that won't solve it either. I know I harp on it but we're broken beyond repair. The only literal path left is open revolt. Throw it away and get a new one. What liberals need to do is drop the disillusion I carried for far too long: being anti-gun.
As long as you're fine with breaking the union up, sure.
Most of the fuckery is on the federal level, after all.
Yang dropped out. I feel bad for Democrats. I’m calling Mayor Pete loses this, but wins overall. Probably take until the convention. Warren and Biden will hang in there past Super Tuesday.
No denying that shit is beyond fixing. The only solution is to burn it all down and start again from scratch. But we've been saying that for ages now. As 'cheeks once said, as long as the common man can get McDonalds and Netflix, they'll be content enough not to do anything.
Also: Is that sandwich really real?
The delightful and honorable recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Rush Limbaugh, on the possibility of Pete Buttigieg winning the Democrat nomination:
“They’re sitting there and they’re looking at Mayor Pete, a gay guy, 37 years old, loves kissing his husband on debate stages. Can you see Trump have fun with that?”
Seriously, the sooner he dies horribly from his advanced lung cancer, the better.
I mean plus-one a seventy five cent bag of Cheetoes and that sandwich is yours.
No, I need an employee of KFC to make it for me.
I imagine there are still people getting fast food and watching youtube right up to the point people were forces to leave during the fires in Australia. Or California. Or flooding. Or tornados. Or hurricanes.
Someone will go for the mcmuffin right until the end.
Someone should make a post apocalyptic movie and it's just the office, but the world is scorched, and they go to work in hv blocking tank cars, and walk outside in space suits and everyone refuses to acknowledge that has anything changed. Make sure there is a Garfield posted with "I hate Mondays"
So our old friends are evidently happy about recent events...

BTW, at a rally last night Trump was upset that Parasite, a South Korean film, won the best picture Oscar.
“Was it good? I don’t know,” he said, going on to reflect wistfully on classic Hollywood movies. “Let’s get ‘Gone With the Wind’ back, please? ‘Sunset Boulevard.’ So many great movies. I thought it was best foreign film, no?”
...uh?
Trump, making everything dumb posted here in the past 20 years look thoughtful.
Maybe he is a mastermind. How he could not understand how award shows work, comment on a movie he hasn't seen, and name drop a controversial movie, unintentionally is just too far out there. It had to be on purpose right? Or does he really have 1 million monkeys on type writers in his head?
Gone With the Wind was complete pandering to his crowd, but I was surprised to hear him name drop Sunset Boulevard. I wonder if he's never seen it and just named a classic movie he heard people talk about. Or does he really like the movie, because he can relate to a man whore selling himself to an old hag who can't let go of the past?
Somebody should.
If this election ends up being Bernie v. Trump I’ll enjoy seeing the insane news stories roll in in even greater volume.
It's going to be insane regardless. All adults have left the room and barricaded the doors behind them.
Which adults were those? The party leadership on either side have been revealed as frauds and charlatans, might as well get weird.
Buttigieg just dropped out of the race. Since Warren, Bloomberg, and Klobuchar have less than zero chance in hell, we're down to either Biden or Sanders as the eventual Democrat nominee. A guy who's going senile or a guy with a bad ticker. Hmm.
Guess I have to go with Sanders, which I was kind of already doing anyway. Hopefully he picks a good running mate to take his place if he keels over and dies in office.
The Rock would be a good VP.
Better than what we have now, that's for sure.
One step closer to make demolition man rral
Amy's out.
Bloomberg's out.
Warren's team is considering ending her campaign. What the fuck is there to consider? She's done.
In other news, Jeff Sessions' sad attempt to crawl back to his former job as a senator after Trump fired him as AG hit a brick wall when he failed to win Alabama's GOP nomination. Your career is over, Jeff!
Aw shucks, Jeff!
Warren's done.
Twitter is 100% femme rage right now.
So AOC is basically refusing to campaign for Bernie after his people starting promoting the endorsement of Joe Rogan. Apparently the reason is due to Rogan being criticized by LGBT activists because he's against things like using puberty blockers on gender-confused children and the idea of biological males competing in women's sports.
AOC is an idiot.
Like I think everyone should be treated with respect and dignity, but we don't let children get tattoos and we don't let 14 year olds compete with 8 year olds in any sport. Permanent physical changes to your body should be decisions only adults make and matching up contestants in sports to create parity isn't evil.
You're not a bad person because you recognize that children aren't adults and some people are stronger than other people.
AOC thinks her job is to be a pundit, and has zero concept of what it means to be a politician. Politicians have to bring a diverse coalition of people to their platform. It's that platform -- not the ideological purity of everyone in that coalition -- that is the point.
Really?
You don't say?
However, the second link is from The National Review, which I wasn't familiar with...apparently it's a pretty conservative site, so you can take that as you will. And now that I've re-read the article, it sounds more like the LGBT stuff could have been speculation on the author's part as opposed to fact. But AOC blowing off Bernie in-part due to the Rogan endorsement appears to indeed be a thing, and the LGBT stuff is legit speculation 'cause that is something that Rogan is very well-known for.
*EDIT* Holy shit, National review is pretty fucked up. I had no idea.
AOC seems to mean well and she's clearly very capable and intelligent, but not endorsing a Presidential candidate because someone else you don't agree with on a few topics ALSO endorses that Presidential candidate is immature, short sighted, and outright ridiculous.
I have a hard time believing this isn't all overblown, but if it's not, then I've met middle school girls who have their shit more together.
It's blown out of proportion. She did a lot of campaigning for him earlier in the year and hit the time in her schedule where she had to handle her own responsibilities. His campaign hitting the skids certainly didn't help sway her to think she had to rearrange things.
So I called it? Interesting.
HuffPo is for rich libs who want to remain rich libs, nobody gets paid to write for that site.
Chances are if something is only sourced by Nat Review and HuffPo, it's strictly op-ed bullshit for the cocktail party set. They're directly connected by the KCRW Left Right and Center radio show, they're all best friends.
I mean did she rescind her endorsement because of Rogan, or didn’t she?
Edit: It’s all over multiple news outlets so it sounds legit. But he’s not actually in the running anymore so who cares? They’re arguing and damaging each other’s reps for a participation ribbon lulz.
You fucking nazi sympathizer.
This isnt specific to her though. That has been an emerging problem with the left for 20, 30 years. Maybe longer. There isnt a unifying goal and many in each micro group buy into ideological purity.
The left isnt like the right, whom will share a bed with a rapist and thief if they will wear the team colors and bring home the championship.
Eeeeehhhhh, the problem with this is that a person will have better results the sooner they transition. Your bones physically change during puberty. If someone mtf can get ahead of that, they will have a cleaner transition. Or, wait until 50, transition, look like a Monty python sketch character and shoot themselves in a bathroom of Applebees because a positive self image is not unobtainable.
So I understand parents that want to start asap because they are trying to prevent something more tragic later.
And do we really care about an even playing field in sports? Really really? If we do, why do we let shitty football teams play good ones? Have you seen a top sec school play a bad one? Not even in the same league with each other, but we pretend it's fair.
If we really cared, why don't we have weight classes in football, basketball and football? How many asian and white players are being kept out of the NBA because they cant match the physical power of the top 1% of other groups?
Why is it ok to built one team over here with the best of the best but then go to another sport and say "no, this same practice isnt fair"
That's making the assumption that a child is capable of making an irreversible decision regarding their physical development that will affect them for the rest of their life. Or that there isn't a growing history of young people transitioning and then completely regretting it later.
Not saying that there aren't plenty of trans people who said that they knew they were trans from a very early age - there are - and I'm not saying that kids should or shouldn't have access puberty blockers in the right situations. I'm just saying that it's a practice that should, at the very least, be seriously questioned.
So you're saying that we shouldn't separate sports by weight, skill, or sex at all, and everyone should be allowed to compete with everyone?Quote:

Honestly, it's pointless having this discussion; it went nowhere the last time we tried it.
Yes, they win but they stand for nothing now. Cartoon villains with a thin veneer of what they once stood for.
Apparently Trump's sending checks out to every American now? What?
Yang Gang baby!
See, casually describing "the government is sending checks" as "Trump is sending checks" is exactly the type of crap that's going to salvage what should be an unsalvageable re-election bid for him. It's blood-boiling to see people and sources that don't want that to happen just glibly marching into the trap of ascribing him ownership of positive news that happened despite him, not because of him.
Trump only wanted to give checks and write-offs to employers, not the employees, and from every report he's been dragged kicking and screaming towards giving any direct benefits to the citizenry.
In other tricksy word schemes, Trump and conservative media suddenly got REAL concerned with always making sure to mention the virus' ethnicity in the past couple days. I'm sure that's totally benign and not a dogwhistle that will result in an uptick of blame and antagonism towards asians during this whole thing.
Dude, like, 4 people probably read that post. Chill.
That said, I get what you're saying.
I know, but it's not just you, I'm seeing news sources in general just handing him a win on this by making it sound like it was his idea in their headlines.
Yeah, it's frustrating, especially considering the fact that this whole mess is completely his fault to begin with. Trump deserves credit for nothing positive.
But I get the feeling that one or two $1,000 checks aren't going to be nearly enough to make even a dent in what people stand to face if this goes on any length of time. Shit's only gotten really real in the past week or so and already the seams of society are starting to become undone.
BTW, reports are that a vast majority of Trump's retarded followers are still clinging to his old narrative that the virus is no big D and are refusing to stop congregating and socializing in their little bohunk towns, so hopefully most of them will get sick and die off soon. So there's that, at least.
How is it a win for trump? This kind of redistribution of wealth for the public good reeks of socialism. Can't have that, especially for a fake news disease!
That's Kung-Flu to you, buddy.
Hong Kong Fluey?
Super virus kind of guy
He's not wrong.
News is poison, man. They play the Trump Hate game, but they made him, profit from him and help kill off his opponents.
Yeah, Haoh's no diehard Rebublican, I mean sure, he unerringly praises one side and excuses all their foibles, and he relentlessly shits on the other side anytime they breathe in a way he doesn't like, but he makes sure to toss out a "but both sides are bad" every now and then.
The very picture of an independent! Get it together, Dole.
Just for reference, the only place I post anything political is Facebook and I make an effort not to because of how quickly political discord turns into nasty conversations. Here is every post/topic (remotely political, not family stuff) that I've made since the Covid-19 outbreak:
February 5th: "How do you spell Congress? P-A-R-T-I-S-A-N"
March 12th: A graph on the virus outbreak
March 12th: NHL cancelled. NBA cancelled. ATP/WTA cancelled. NCAA cancelled. With all of these televised sports being cancelled some of us are going to have reintroduce ourselves to our wives. ;)
March 13th: True story: 20ish years ago I got out of manufacturing because China could produce a finished product cheaper than I could even buy the raw material for. I said it then: sooner or later the fact that we aren’t producing enough goods here will bite us in the ass. Here we are.
March 14th: Nice to know that all it takes for the Democrats and Republicans to work together is a global pandemic and/or the end of the world. Healthcare should be fixed in no time. ;)
March 16th: You have to wonder what’s going to do more damage - this virus or the cratered economy that we’re creating.
March 16th: Bloomberg's wasted 500 million sure could have helped A LOT of small businesses that are going to be in trouble moving forward. Be nice if he, and other billionaires, got together and created a fund for all of the restaurants, etc... that are going to suffer immeasurably over the next few months.
March 20th: Keep your fingers crossed that heat & humidity will kill this thing. Looks like early summer for us in Florida.
Registered: No party affiliation
Didn't vote for Trump or Hillary
Fiscal conservative, social liberal - believe in universal healthcare, abortion rights, the 2nd amendment, borders, etc... About as independent as you can get.
The only person shitting here is you, Bacon, right out of your mouth.
I don't really care which team anyone supports. Hating on each other over politics is exactly what the powers that be want. Be better than that. Neither side is on yours.
It's all right to have disparate views of issues that don't, and might never, line up. It's not okay to wish someone would die of some horrible disease because you don't like them or those views. That's a whole another level of hate.
The problem is the people can't seem to discuss different views of subjects without it evolving into a rhetoric driven over the top insult fest. It would be far more productive to express your views, have them be heard and understood, and then be willing to listen to the other side's views and offer the same respect. We might actually get something done in this country instead of this hyper partisan crap that doesn't do anyone, least of all us, the "little people", any good.
I voted for Trump. I don't consider myself to be a dimwit. I'm actually fairly well respected as a person. I work in a place with mainly Democrats in a city that's mainly made up of Democrats, doing work that helps people. And no one's ever called me a dimwit to my face.
It's exceedingly easy to talk shit and demonize others on the Internet.
Fortunately, it's just as easy to ignore it.
I honestly don't know who I would have voted for if I were an American. I think Trump is an ignorant douche, but he may still have been the lesser of two evils. We'll never know what sort of sinister shit Clinton would have gotten up to if she'd been elected, and the independent candidates were not particularly compelling, to say the least.
I agree, but it was only an accelerant for what cable news and reality TV started - a sensational disregard for reason.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
You're SO right, Bacon! Silly me, judging a man by his actions and all.
Aaaannnnd that's what I (and everyone else) am basing my opinion on.
