I dropped by the Game Over store I'd visited the last time I was in Houston. I picked up Full Auto 2 (PSP) for $8, along with the manual for Mountain King (Atari VCS) $5 and a plastic SNES protective case for $1. I got the Battlefield game from a Walmart.

Great buy! Kaboom! alone is reason enough to own a 2600.

Clearance Legos, I have no interest in seeing Ghostbusters but it makes a nice set. Thought the Clayface set was the best of Lego Batman collection, found it and Joker at a random grocery store.

I've seen some pretty good deals on videogames at pawn shops, but not quite as good as what you got.
Most pawn shops seem to have adopted Amazon/game store pricing. Luckily there's a couple places around here that just seem to want to turn stuff out quick so it's flopped into prepriced bins and you hopefully get lucky rummaging through.

I've been on a bit of an old computer kick lately, thanks to 8 bit guy and Lazy Game Reviews on youtube. (tangentially, that brings the number of video game focused youtube channels I can stomach up to three- Game Sack being the original).
I've had a Commodore 64C and Atari XEGS for years, and (I think) James sent me an Amiga 500 quite some time ago that I never did anything with. But I've now complemented them with a Commodore SX-64

and an Atari 800, 800XL, and 1200XL. The last three I got for a very decent deal. Having issues with the 1200's keyboard which seems to be standard these days. Will probably keep the 800 and sell/trade off the other two- hopefully to fund SD card solutions for the ones I keep. Like everything else old game related, the prices for software have gotten out of hand and when it comes to disks/cassettes if you're lucky enough to get working media the load times and disk swappen lessen any potential enjoyment.
That's awesome. Combined with your vintage (and certainly not retro) Atari modding, you've been on a roll. I almost bought a huge Amiga 1200 lot on ebay but decided I have enough places to sink money.

Went on my first NES Craigslisting in two years, came away with three sealed games and a complete Terminator (damn this game is awful, at least as bad as the SNES rev). Woman selling the stuff said her deceased brother had a ton of NES stuff in storage, told to her text me if anything else came up. Also ran across two portable titles I'd been looking for, Super Mario Maker and controllers were from a garage sale.

What is the deal with parents pawning off their kids stuff while they are away at college?
My parents moved while I was attending tech school in Phoenix. I ended up losing my Star Wars trading cards, along with the 1st issue of the original EGM.
My friends Mom garage saled his cherished Jetfire complete in box. Cold.
Brutal.
My parents threw out so much of my stuff when they decided to sell their house and gave me no notice. If I have to guess, they are probably over $5k worth of stuff.
Some parents are like that. They have a very warped and stupid relationship with money.
My parents have been pretty good about it. They kept just about everything.
Though I'm starting to get threats from my dad.
It really makes you wonder though. Some parents think they forever have ownership of the toys because they bought them. Emplying they don't understand gifts.
Others only place value on a limited number of things like cars or houses or fishing gear or something like that. They never stop to research the value of things outside of their own likes or traditional investments.
And some are just stupid. They value nothing. Are horrible with money and resorces. These are the types that will forever be poor. Because they waste everything. Not being a vessel of entropy is just too hard.
Just imagine what it will be like when you're a parent.
My parents kept everything of mine through multiple moves. I've gotten most of it, but they still have a few things, since they have a basement, and I don't. I will absolutely keep everything of my daughter's until she is ready to make her own decisions about what to do with it as well.
My mom was like "take that shit with you. I'm throwing out whatever you leave." So, I lost nothing, haha. She did throw out my Transformers #1 comic while cleaning when I was a kid. I made such a stink about it that I think she didn't want to have to make that mistake again.
I'll likely hold onto my kids' premium toys, like the LaLa Loopsies and Monster High dolls. I can see those making a comeback in a decade or two. I'm sure they'll at least want the chance to decide what to do with them.

Unrelated, it saddens me how many of my electron tube books are from dead people that had their stuff donated by family too disinterested or stupid to use them.
There is just something very sad about a man building his career to provide for his children and grandchildren and yet at the time of his passing, all of that labor, skill and knowledge is so alien and worthless to his family.
But hey, I wouldn't have them for 25 cents each if his grandkids weren't as dumb as a fence post.

Universal Monsters set is the UK version because it has better packaging, it's region free, and it's cheaper. Not sure what Universal is thinking putting blu-rays in book sleeves (which the UK set doesn't do). Back to the Future did that and I ended up putting the discs in separate cases.
Jonny Quest is sadly still edited. Still not a bad set with nice video quality and the majority of episodes untouched, but still a bit disappointing that "Heathen Monkeys" is missing from "Pursuit of the Po-Hos". I'm actually kind of glad I got the official Warner Archive CD-R sets of Top Cat and Wacky Races since they still have full color discs and the original menus and extras are intact. From what I have seen, the so called "Diamond Collection" sets are the same videos as the previous discs, but with bare bones menus and no extras. The price isn't bad for what you get, but calling an inferior set "Diamond Collection" is very misleading.
Cowboy Bebop on Blu-ray is fucking badass. I hope you have a good audio rig.

I picked up John Wick: Chapter 2 at Walmart and saw that the BR anniversary version of Ghost in the Shell was $8, so I grabbed that too, I also got X-Men: Days of Futures Past for the same price.
From eBay, I got Dig Dug, Frygar, Pac-Man, and Coily for my collection of those mini Funko pop figures. I only need Pinky and Mega Man to have them all, but I have never seen a MM in the wild or online. They must be like, one per case or some other limited shit.
What do they look like? I'll keep an eye out for those soulless pieces of shit for you. I'm not sure I've seen mini ones.

I love that Centipede, Frogger, and Dig Dug have figures. I'm a bit tired of Pac-Man though, and Mega Man has no business being in this collection. I would have preferred Mappy or any other arcade character instead.

I got an ultrawide monitor for a decent price, then realized I have little use for it at home, took it to work, and got my boss to reimburse me for it.
My Hori Fighting Commander for XB1 that I ordered in February finally arrived, too. I liked the PS4 FC Pro that I had, but the lack of x-input was becoming a problem.
I kinda want one but I don't know what I'd use it for.
I bought one of each of the different packages they come in, and the arcade cab on the packaging synced up with what was in the box every time. Frogger was in the Frogger package, Centipede was in the Centipede one, etc. It's a dice roll which of the characters you'll get in the games with multiple figures, but it's not nearly so "blind" as most blind-box stuff.Quote:

I bought one of each, but the filled out the rest via eBay so as not to risk getting a double. I think MM must have been one per box or something, because I've never seen one at any of the stores I've gone to. The employees or watchful collector probably get them as soon as the box is opened.

Was especially pumped to run across Billy Hatcher and Doom. Doubt it has held up over the years but I loved Doom more than any other first person shooter for the 64. And holy hell the art for UMvC is crap by Capcom standard.

I played Doom 64 last year. It's outstanding. It might even be easier to appreciate today than it was at release in light of the turn FPS map design has taken.
It's definitely easier to appreciate today, because Doom64 EX exists.

I absolutely love the Golf Club. You literally have access to hundreds of thousands of courses. Of course there is going to be a lot of trash, but the filter and rating system makes it pretty easy for the cream to rise to the top. It's pretty realistic/simplistic with no leveling up or powers/specials, so it is just straight up golf. My uncle and I play online a ton and enjoy it just as much as when it first came out.
2 comes out next week, but we went ahead and got it pre-loaded. It looks like they have added some nice features and the great thing is all courses from the first once can be updated and uploaded to this one.

2D Zelda was never really my thing, but I've heard good things, and the gameplay mechanic is eerily reminiscent of a recurring dream I had as a child, so I had to check it out.
I just ordered a Nintendo Switch bundle on GameStop. It comes with ARMs, MK8, and BOTW so games I would have bought anyway. We'll see.
