Yep.
Sports and politics are separate.
That's why the Miracle on Ice was just a pretty good hockey game and Jackie Robinson was just a pretty good baseball player and nobody talks about them in any context but those.
At this point, no one knows why anyone is kneeling and why anyone should be upset. But everyone is though.
The Olympics are (and always will be) the hotbed of politics and sports. Roy Jones Jr. and many a boxer have been denied Gold medals because of corrupt judges. And Jackie Robinson was about color segregation in SPORTS.
This is about players using the NFL as a platform to show their disgust towards the police and their treatment of African Americans. The NFL players have made their statement, but now it's time for them to work with the NFL outside of the game, instead of making it a team and league distraction that has sponsors pulling out.
It seems like the protests going on now are about two things: one the fact that Colin Kaepernick is unemployed, and two, that people are mad about the protests. It's just utter nonsense. The problem for these guys is that the people who are mad are the ones who spend money that ends up in revenue calculations for the salary cap. Some of the owners (like Jerruh) seem to understand this, but the players evidently do not. I think this is going to be what finally gets Rog shitcanned honestly.
That said my comment was about what the Texans did this past week, which was not focusing on the game against the Seahawks. I almost feel like Dick Sherman egged them on a bit to keep them distracted.
Bob McNair certainly went about it the wrong way. He turned the issue into something more akin to racism, and the league certainly doesn't need his sort of comments to muddy the waters.
Jimmy G to 49ers for a 2018 2nd rounder.
Odd move for both teams. Pats have no other QBs on the roster. Jimmy G is a free agent at the end of the year and the 49ers need good picks. On the other hand this upcoming QB class is not nearly as good as hyped.
I figured that the Pats might have traded for another player to help out their offense. They've been squeaking by in several games, with the defense being a key behind those wins.
I don't get this either. I guess Bill will pick up Hoyer or someone for backup.
