Hopefully it's just his voice or he never takes off the helmet. He's kinda old to be playing Boba at this point IMO. Didn't know about Michael Biehn being cast in season 2 though, that's cool.
Yeah, Temuera was looking pretty old and portly in Aquaman. Unless he's been training it's probably for the best they get someone else to play the part physically or it'll be like the laughable DeNiro scenes in The Irishman all over again. The Mandalorian is only supposed to take place a couple of years after Return of the Jedi, after all.
I was really hoping that they'd ignore The stupid bullshit Lucas pulled by re-dubing Fett in the original trilogy with Morrison's voice go with the Eastwood voice again, but I guess not. Really dumb decision...I know Fett is supposed to be Jango's clone and all, but it's not like you can genetically inherit an accent.
Season 2's getting into Clone Wars stuff with Ahsoka and all... An old portly Morrison would be perfect to play the old rebel Captain Rex.
Yes, and we know how much effort Star Wars puts into having things make sense.
Maybe he escaped by eating the sarlac. That would explain the weight gain. It's not like there's a home gym down there.
The story of the sarlaac pit is that nobody escapes and is consumed over a very tortuous long time. A book (Disney calls all of that as not being canon), describes Boba using a Jedi (of all people) to use the force to convince the Sarlaac to squeeze his jet pack, leading to an explosion that releases him. But, Disney says that none of that is canon now, and if a Jedi can’t escape, WTF?!
I dunno. For decades fanboys have been cooking up all sorts of wacky scenarios for how their hero has managed to escape the damn sarlacc pit. But since he's going to be in season 2 I guess they're going to throw all of those ideas in a hat and pick one.
or just not tell you
Maybe!
Damn I used to love grinding the gears of Star Wars nerds that Fett getting out was a fanfic storyline.
I’d prefer it that way though. I feel sci fi often has a “too much of a good thing...” complex where they run every side character out beyond their actual value to a story.
Its better to leave bread crumbs and be a little mysterious. Gives nerds something to talk about.
Besides, by the time they get to the point of fleshing out side characters, they've handed it off to people that don't care about the prosperity and are just trying to flesh out their resumes. And those types of people always put out slocky trash.
A few of the episodes wavered but overall it was excellent. If they’re tying things to extended universe (like Moff Gideon owning the dark saber) then why not do it w Fett I guess.
Anyone watching the Disney Gallery thing?
Dave Filoni: Delivers heartfelt, 20 minute speech about how much he loves Star Wars – including the prequels – with examples of it being all about family even though it's this fantastic universe and that's why it changed his life.
Person: "Sir? This is a Wendy's."
I do enjoy a frosty
Anyone watching season 2?
I like how quickly they're answering some of the big questions from season 1 but introducing newer, bigger questions. I haven't watched the animated series so I'm not as excited to see some of these characters but the name drop in today's episode got me excited.
Looks like I'll need to pick up the new Thrawn books, since the old ones were de-canon'ed when Disney bought the franchise up. He was always my favorite character, so I'll be really keen to see how they link him into this – and whether we get to see him on screen. That'd be awesome.
I LOVE season 1, but I thought season 2 got off to a slow start with episode 1 (despite making Boba Fett being still alive canon, which is a great thing) and episode 2 (snow spider planet). But HOLY SHIT did business pick up from there. Episodes 3-5 have been pure fucking fire, and I can't wait to see how the last 3 episodes turn out.
Never expected this show to basically become a live-action Clone Wars but there it is. So far it's better than ANY Disney Star Wars theatrical release (I did like Rogue One, but the main sequel trilogy & Solo are total ass).
If all Star Wars was like Mando I'd be the biggest Star Wars fan ever. Kathleen Kennedy must be shaking in her fucking boots, as she almost killed the franchise. I say kick that bitch to the curb and give Jon Favreau the keys to the kingdom.
Solo was okay for me. It showed us why Han didn't trust anyone.
Ehh I didn’t mind it either but I think it’s because The Last Jedi was so allergic to fun. It went out of its way to undo the events set in movie 1. And it went too obvious in making everything about social reform (all the woman-commander-brigade railing against Po’s hot take masculinity). Solo at least had train heists and stuff. But it... wasn’t great.
Mandalorian is fantastic through and through. I’ve enjoyed this season a lot (though I agree w the mob that the writers were a bit too cruel to that immigrant gecko mother lol).
Yep. Favreau knows when to push the gas and when to break in these things probably from his work on the Marvel franchise. If you notice the earlier episodes were only 35m long while the last ep was 47. He’s picking and choosing where to spend budget and cutting time to keep quality high.
I actually really liked TLJ in spite of that ridiculous Finn/Rose side quest. In terms of the movies, TLJ and Empire are up there at the top for me. I was really psyched about Rey being nobody & Snoke just being a failed experiment, so aside from how truly awful TRoS was, I was so pissed that they jettisoned those ideas so poorly I can't even think of a worse way to do it. The Luke/Kylo fight was rad, especially because I noticed the deception on first viewing, and I think Luke's death was a satisfying way to show he learned from his past. But I recognize I'm in the minority on TLJ.
Yeah, Solo wasn't awful for me. Sort of a fun, useless bit of backstory. But I liked that it left a couple ends open for future stuff – Enfys Nest, Daenerys, Maul. I really liked Rogue One. I thought it was well written and, of course, that end scene with Vader was great. Everyone seems to have hated uncanny Leia more than uncanny Tarkin but it's the opposite for me. I think my favorite thing about Rogue One was that everyone in that final sequence did their part, sacrificing themselves without even knowing whether the rest of the plan was working properly. Didn't think I needed that kind of hope in my life.
Yup. I really dig this show. That last episode struck a bunch of Kurosawa chords for me, but it's just really well done all around. This season's been getting a lot of flak for the formulaic stuff but I recognize it's all groundwork so I'm fine with it. And, I mean, if I get to see my absolute favorite character on screen, live action, then all is good.
Holy fucking shit that season 2 finale. And be sure to stay after the credits!
Great ending to a great season. Sucks we literally have to wait a year (Christmas 2021) for S3.
Wow. That was great.
I’m excited and worried by the amount of star wars shows they have in production. But based on this last season of Mando, goddamnit I’m in.
I didn't really care for that last episode, actually. Still like the series & look forward to more.
The bad guys were underwhelming and silly, but I liked how it wrapped up.
So far the series has been great in most respects. The action choreography definitely brings it down sometimes, and there are some very dubious plot points, but it's made me like Star Wars again.
I used a free month trial of Disney+ to watch this and it pretty much lived up to the hype. Looking back a few posts I think I align myself with how Calliander judges the last batch of SW movies and I think The Mandalorian is a consistently fun show. There are a lot of great characters and visually, it's often stunning.
Sure there is some dumb shit (Din gets the blueprints from a kiosk in a mess hall whose only security feature is to see if the user has a face? Who cares that you work at the base, you just need a human face?) but for the most part, stories flow well. I got a kick out of seeing Amy Sedaris and Bill Burr. I think the only thing that constantly bothered me is that Grogu 1) sounds way too similar to Goku (DB sucks) and 2) he is both the fastest and slowest creature in the universe. He's Jason Voorhees. When they do show him walk, he can barely move. But when no one looking (and you need his ass to move for story purposes), he's Usain Bolt. Leave him in the cockpit of the ship and bam, he's standing next to Din at the bay door ready to roll out. In the last episode, how the hell did he get up onto the console to touch the monitor when Ultra Cameo showed up? Did he do some Yoda pinball acrobatic nonsense from the prequels?
My girlfriend made the excellent point that Din saying goodbye to Grogu would have been made 100x more emotional if that was the first time he ever removed his helmet in the entire series. If you think about it, the other two times (wounded with IG-88 and using the Imperial face scanner) weren't really necessary, although I can understand an actor wanting to get his mug on-screen at least one or twice per season. But if that was the first time...holy shit.
Just a minor nit-pick. The series still rocked.
So Gina Carano finally got canned from the show for her social media tomfoolery. Not a surprise but still a bummer.
This era, or error, of everything being micro analyzed and nobody being allowed to have a dissenting opinion is becoming positively frightening to anyone who values free speech and independence. I might not agree with what you say but you certainly have a right to say it. Holy shit.
Yeah, honestly what she said to get canned has been twisted in the media for the most part. Granted, she had apparently received warnings previously and chose to ignore them, but ultimately as far as right-wing people go she wasn't super-obnoxious or anything. I honestly don't agree with her firing.
Meh. She signed a conduct code with her contract, got warned, continued, got canned. She can say what she wants, but free speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences, especially when it's spelled out in the contract she willingly signed. Also, I wonder where all the right-wing cancel culture outrage is for Lou Dobbs.
I'm only really surprised it took this long. I wonder if they're going to recast her role, and who they'd go with if so?
She didn't really matter into the overall narrative of the show that much, she was just somebody Mando called up when he needed some muscle. If they're going to concentrate on Mandalore or whatever in season 3 she can easily be written out:

I don't know - the double standards are just appalling. Wasn't too long ago that NFL players were castigated for protesting and I don't recall any of them getting fired for not adhering to a code of conduct.
NFL Code of Conduct in 2017 “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition... “.
As far as Dobbs goes, you can question certain things about the election but when it raises the bar to allegations to the level that he was insinuating, without evidence other than conjecture, then Fox had to do what it had to do. He and a couple of others are being sued for a monstrous amount because of their unsubstantiated claims.
How about Cuomo? Good thing he didn't step to the front of the line when he could've ran Biden off into next week. Serious misconduct there.

Does it state there's a punishment for not doing it? If so, then they should receive it. If it says they should but doesn't state any actual requirement, that's something different.Quote:

So it's Ok for Fox to fire Dobbs for saying stupid shit that hurt the network's brand but not for Disney? She was saying some pretty unsubstantiated stuff.Quote:

Cuomo's a shady fuck who I think is one witness away from being run out of office. It just seems to me like there's something brewing there that's ready to explode.Quote:

There was a time when we'd thought that the world described in the book 1984 wouldn't exist, but now with social media, we are all being constantly observed by the world.
Were they actually doing it AT WORK, you know, while they were getting paid? Did she post stupid shit on Twitter on her own time? That's something different, too.
Dobbs was at work, too. Again, different.
I hope so. He's an insufferable conceited arrogant asshole. Kinda like the guy that just left office.
That's the thing. In today's toxic social media world, it doesn't matter if you're at work or not when you say something because you're under the spotlight all the time. These people have to realize that when they start working for a company. The whole "cancel culture" bullshit is just an excuse to avoid accountability (it's only bad when it happens to them or someone like them. Perfectly find when it's the other side!). If you get famous and say stupid shit on social media, don't act all surprised Pikachu when there are consequences.
I can see why people are upset with her associating herself with Holocaust Jews just because she gets flack for saying dumb shit. I don’t personally think what she said was fire-worthy tbh. But she had warnings and it’s Disney’s prerogative based on the contract she signed. They’re clearly going max-inclusive on policy.
I liked her character and casting. Really strong female soldier types are hard to cast. Most actresses don’t have enough bulk to be that believable. For a Jedi that’s fine (cause magic) but for warriors it strains disbelief.
But Mandalorian will continue without missing a beat.
Yeah, I agree that most stick-thin women Hollywood casts as "really strong female soldier types" are laughable. But when Gina beat up several men at once I believed it 100%.
The Book of Boba Fett trailer:
We cut the cord a couple of months ago and signed up for Hulu. My wife thinks that we have Disney +, but I’ve yet to check it out. I’ll most certainly check these shows out if we do.
I've completed the 1st season of the Mandalorian and thought that it was great. I did think that the final chapter was kind of cheesy though.
I've watched the 1st two episodes of Boba Fett. I think that I might actually like this better than the Mandalorian. Boba is put through hell, between escaping the Sarlac Pit, and being held captive. He's a man of honor, that's for sure.
