I guess that makes all the people that own both consoles "Maincore" or "Hardstream" gamers, doesn't it?Quote:
Ps2 owners = mainstream gamers.
DC owners = hardcore gamers.
Nope. Because the hardcore gamer's motives for buying the system are different from the mainstream gamer buying the system.Quote:

The only reason a hardcore gamer would own a system is if his/her's fave company had to release its games on that system. Ordinarily a mainstream gamer would buy the system and be oblivious to the quality of the companies' games and might have originally bought the system simply because it's the 'most supported' and 'pimped by his friends the most' or by the media-exposure, or even by some other evil force. (some guy at sony with m.bison-like psycho powers who wants to dominate the industry :D)
Test: If you feel like your 'forced' to buy a system just to play particular companies games because it's the only option, then chances are your still hardcore. I'm talking about mainstream gamers as being those people who got the machine and pimp the system like they would thier football team. (because they need the support despite the quality of thier skills or whatever. Even if thier team is the worst in the league they'd continue the support because it's the right thing to do right? The hardcore are more worried about the merit of the work and if it deserves thier own praise than because others are supporting it. If a game really was shit, you'd know by comparing it to other better things out there, and by going through your own experience, know your own reasons to support, or not support, something.)
It IS being put out on the PS2 in Japan, and it will most likely see a US PS2 port. Some of us would just like to see it come to the Dreamcast with the hopes of it being a superior port. Also, if it never makes it to the States on PS2, we can import it much easier.Quote:

if it was pushed for a PS2 release in the US many more people will see it play it = more MS games
Is this so difficult to understand ??

-more 2d shmups and 2d fighters on dc (I have a hunch why)
There are more 2D platformers on the PS2 than the DC, Kolona and Photoboy 2. The DC doesn't have even one. The only 2D DC game I would miss is Mars Matrix and possibly Ikaruga (which might be coming to GameCube) I don't believe the DC will be getting the new Donpachi game either. If you count PSone games then the PS2 completely kicks the DCs ass 2D wise. The PSone has an superb selection of 2D games.
This thread makes my head hurt. Can we just end this stupid shit already?
Not till someone says uncle..............ah crap.Quote:

Ironically, the PSOne has more 2-D games than anyone in the post 16 bit age. The Dreamcast just has more 2-D as a percentage of its total library than other recent consoles. End of story.
Now we can end this stupid shit :D
Cheers!
The PSone is soooo good. *goes off to play Gradius Gaiden*Quote:

This thread has truly gone to shit, if you don't want Metal Slug 3 on Dreamcast then why are you posting here?
"Most hardcore gamers I know are multiplatform and have always preffered the dc versions of 2d games and less likely to buy the ps2 versions of 2d games."
I agree with this. I own a Jap PS2 and a Jap DC but for 2D games i'd rather they were on DC for peace of mind (both platforms can do Metal Slug 3 perfectly and without slowdown but SNK/Playmore hardly do the best ports ever). Mainly because;
-I hate DVD cases as they have the nasty habit of fucking up the manual in transit
-GGX and CvSNK2 are both better on Dreamcast
-DC RGB and image quality cannot be rivaled
-The DC arcade stick is the best around
-Loading times are always worse on PS2 mainly when games are on CD to save costs
But then what do I know, I own a PS2 therefore i'm 'mainstream'.
