Well I'd love to play some people here (provided your name doesn't rime with Fucas Parton), so if anyone has the game and plays online, please list your screen name and maybe we can get some TNL games going :) Here's mine:

Get on MSN.
Error1 (Because Error was taken that's why :P)
Usually on Eastern Server, but I'm not on very often.
puyo
I usually play as Undead.
i would be if direct X didnt suck ass
Total
I'll be on more pretty soon. Just beat the campaign.
Kidnemo
Been playing alot of non-bnet games lately though.
BlastProcess on both East and West. Bowserisgod on MSN or AIM if you want to set up a game beforehand.
Battle.net doesn't seem to work on my comp and I dunno why. Yes I downloaded the patch and it still won't work. Whatever, I'll figure it out later. I got like 3 more missions left in campaign, so I'll finish that off first.
well I won't be getting my copy for a couple weeks yet. And yes I was the one to start a thread about WC3 on the board. I didn't expect for my school loan check to be delayed so now I am forced to amass $600 to pay for shit until my loan refund comes in. No WC3 for me yet but I will definetly join the ranks in couple weeks.
Correction: I'm ArThore on battl.net (Azeroth server).
Currently 2-0.
I want to beat the single player campaign first before I start on Bnet, if you guys are still playing by then I should have SearchX has my Bnet name.
Well, I have Apokryphos.
But the active account is FuryFox. Looking for some good teammates, too.
I rarely play wc3 online yet, as I have not beat the campaign, but when I do, I'm always in channel biggin, on the eastern server, using the screenname legoman666.
I'm Chux ...quite the shocker, I'm sure. I just finished playin a few games with some friends, if anybody wants to play, just send me a message while I'm on.
I am 88mph... Gate is US east.
On Starcraft my name is one of many:
I_CANNON_RUSH
BFC_88MPH
EAT_THE_CACK
Gate is still US east.
I suck at warcraft, but I am OK at Starcraft, and I ALWAYS want to play.
AIM = Jnyace13
WeKillSoapScum
Just the West Server for me. I'll probably just register the same name on the East server also.
My AIM is MentalMethodic.
i'm 3-1 now. All 2v2. One game my partner bailed, and I beat the other 2 to win (awesome). Last game we got slaughtered by 2 NE players. One had a hero and all huntresses, the other had 3 heros and some back up wizards or some shit. It was horrible.
I hope that huntress rush gets patched soon. Huntresses are unbalanced to fuck. They're fast, strong, armored up, and easy to produce. Where's the balance there?
I had a 4vs4 game vs 1orc and 3ne's, and the three night elf teams made mass huntresses and the orc team made only shaman to bloodlust the huntresses. While that's a badass strategy, it was made worse by the fact that that many huntresses are impossible to begin with, let alone with bloodlust. If huntresses were harder to produce, I could've made some air units in time to counter, but it's so easy to make a ton of huntresses early in the game before I ever get to think about air units.
By the time I get rushed with Huntresses, I can usually have both heroes out and going, leveled at least 1 or 2 levels. Once they rush me, I use Dreadlord's sleep on their hero and the huntresses are like lamb to slaughter. Given that, I dunno how I would really counter with any of the other races. They can kill ghouls really fast, and I'm sure it's not all that much different for footmen or orcs. Maybe they should require you to upgrade your Tree, putting huntresses on the next tech level. Fun game, btw. :)
Damn I'm terrible at this game :p The flow of the game is really so much different than Starcraft and Warcraft 2, so I'm still trying to adjust. Not sure if I like it better or not yet...
Making huntresses cost 4 food instead of 3 and having their build time a little bit slower would be pretty solid. Huntresses are fine, but it's just so easy to get so many of them so quickly.
I looked at the replay to see what went wrong.
We all started about the same. In fact, my partner and I had our heros up before the other team. I went creeping and lost my first small army and had to rebuild. my partner went as well. Meanwhile, yellow NE had blademaster, and had 6-8 huntresses made. The other NE had all three heros and a small force. They ran out together and went all over the map looking for us. Meanwhile my partner is creeping, and they find him. He was already at half health, and the dropped him easily. They then moved in to his base. So I teleport into his town to help, so it was my small force, my hero at lvl 2 against 8 huntresses, 2 heros at lvl 1, 1 at lvl 2 and one and lvl 3.
It was over at 15 minutes. We didn't have a chance, we were simply overwealmed.
hmm, it sounds like you just need to play some more. If it was 15 minutes in, that's plenty of time to make a couple heros and develop a nice little army that takes out creeps without a problem. And by Blademaster I'm assuming you mean either Keeper of the Grove or Princess of the Moon, right? Those are particularly weak heroes when they first start out, at least in my experience. I'm still making the rounds in the game, developing my undead game as well as playing the other races to see what the strategies are, but I know 15 minutes in I already have 2 heroes (usually Death Knight at lvl 3-5, and Dreadlord at lvl 2-3), several ghouls, and a decent number of crypt fiends. Coupled with a partner, that force that you played against sounds particularly easy.
Maybe I'm not understanding the situation enough or there's more to it than what you're describing. Maybe you could post the replay so that we could take a look at it? Btw, I forgot from earlier, I play on bnet east as Schlep, but I may be changing nicks because I have lots of disconnect losses. :P
Sorry! I was thinking of a diffrent match (blademasters are Orcs). But your right.Quote:
And by Blademaster I'm assuming you mean...
It was really lack of experience that did me in. I had a bad start (getting smacked around by the first creeps did me in) and just needed to move faster. How do I post the replay on here?
Just upload your replay to your ISP's webspace (most give that to you) and then paste the link to it on here to download. I'll go ahead and show you a loss I had today. :o It wouldn't have been a loss if I had used my brain and attacked their expansions, but I'm still learning. I think replays are the greatest thing to happen to RTS; it's helped me improve my game in 1.5 weeks what it took a month or more to do on WC2.
http://schlep.kicks-ass.net/schlepsassiskicked.w3g
gotcha. I put 2 up. The win and the loss.
http://orion.ramapo.edu/~njohns/WC3/Replays.htm
in the win, I would have knocked out green much faster had I seen his expansion. I took out his main base and never saw him slip into a new mine. He had a fully functional base by the time I saw it. (that one is long, so fast foward).
I agree, thank god Bliz put replays in. It's a world of help.
I don't have time tonight to watch the win, but I did watch the loss that you're talking about, and it's exactly what I thought...you and your teammate are building WAY too slow.
There are a couple things I noticed that I can point out here. First of all, don't ever have an acolyte that's just dedicated to summoning buildings. It may sound look a good thing to have, but you're really negating the advantage of the Undead. You can just pull an aco from the mine for 2 seconds and have him summon a building. Also, Lich King really is a horrible hero to start out with; he has no abilities that are beneficial to your army for creeping. The best choice, imo, is Death Knight with his Unholy Aura/Death Coil, but Dread Lord with his Vampiric Aura/Sleep isn't too shabby either.
Not really much else I can put into words. I really encourage you to look at the replay I posted; it's by no means perfect (I lost), but it gives a really good idea of what your initial build order should look like, and also how to cut a decent Night Elves player down to size several times. I would've continued to do that, but I didn't kill his extension mines enough and got sloppy with my micro, throwing it all away. Ah well, there's always tomorrow. :)
Just got beat again :(. Two NE again, lasted much longer. Did well, but left them alone too long and we just fell apart.
Watched your replay, it was really good (aside from the loss). You won some battles I didn't think you would win, he was all about air. For the longest time your heros had skill upgrades that you never used (drove me nuts). And that guy was an expansion maniac. You took one down, and then when you were scouting with the shade, you just missed one at the top (you went south instead). In the end he had at least 2 mines going at the same time, usually three.
I'm still stuck in the Starcraft mind set, and that just doesn't work with WC3. It's just too different, you get stomped by the people that keep moving and can get their heros up to snuff. That's another thing, you can't sit still in this game. After a battle, you HAVE to do something, especially if you won that battle. Maybe get some more troops to help, and hit his base or drop some more creep. Most people take their entire force out so if you win a skirmish, it's the easist time to attack. I've seen a lot of people just charge to their oppenents base when their own base is under attack, just put them back as far as possible (I like to take down Altars first, most only make one, and delaying the creation of a hero even further is a huge help. Gotta take out those mines too. Scouting is also really important...your screwed if you don't know where they are coming from, you have to know where to attack (plus most people don't research the ability to find cloaked units).
Sorry to hear that. I totally agree about WC3 being different than Starcraft. I've played several people I know who claimed the game was 'just like starcraft' when they played the computer for a bit, and I come along and totally slam them with 2 level 6+ heroes and a small army while they're still building an altar. I really like that the game is all about moving fast to up experience, get more mines, attack while they're especially weak, etc. I also have to say that I love killing off my opponent while they're creeping if I can find them and then using town portal if things get sticky afterwards (like it did in that replay).
What I do not like about the game, however:
1) Blight for Undead should appear as soon as you start summoning anything, *especially* haunted mines. I don't know how many countless mines I've lost due to having to wait for the mine to summon, and then having to wait for the ziggs to summon, and then having to wait for upgrade to Spirit Tower. It's not really a fair handicap as the other 3 races can all build right away when they take over a mine.
2) Moon wells seem a little too powerful. I've never been able to overrun a NE's town unless I just massacred them and all they have now is 2-3 units.
3) Riflemen, and humans in general, seem weak. I haven't had a chance to really play them alot, but farms only supporting 6, and having to upgrade scout towers, and having to constantly manage the peons because of how many buildings you have to create...just all seems like you'd have to be unbelievably good at micro to make any kind of difference with that particular race.
4) Finally, I'd have to say Dreadlord's Sleep is too strong and his Infernal is too weak. In that replay, I was able to slaughter 5 huntresses, 3 archers, and his hero with 4 crypt fiends, 4 ghouls (I think?), and 2 heros with only losing 1 crypt fiend all because of Dreadlord's sleep.
But in the end, maybe the balance is there. I've only played the game about 20-25 hours so far and I'm probably not playing against anyone particularly good, so we'll see in a few weeks. :)
I'm a human player, and you're right on about them sucking. If you're going to be good with humans, you need to be a micro master. Nothing the humans have is good on its own, it's just the sum of all the parts. You can't have a footman, hero, rifleman army or you'll get slaughtered. You need some knights, sorcs, priests, steam tanks, etc and they have to all be teched up. I usually don't have the patience or skill to get that good.
I have a lot of respect for those that are good with humans. I just can't win anything with them on a straight 1vs1 fight, but 4vs4, humans are great for running in with a second small rush right after your other three guys rush. If you can catch your opponents offguard with some riflemen and some polymorph, humans rule.
Mass steam tanks is also the 4vs4 strat of choice. 12 steam tanks can usually take out 2 whole towns in a minute or two if your buddies keep the opponent busy while you do it.
I totally agree with you on the blight. It is a huge handicap when you try to expand and have to wait until the mine finishes. Every other race doesn't have that to deal with, and every other building (except the Necropolis) depending on it, plus it takes forever to summon a gold mine.
Does anyone use humans? Seems like no one likes to use them.
Speaking of unbalanced: Starfall. Holy mother of too powerful. Sure it's an Ultimate spell, but the power of it is absured. All you have to do is charge a base with a full army (12 units) and drop starfall. Sit back and watch as every unit in that area gets oblitarited with buildings getting taken down to near half health.
Oh, and seige weapons are almost a necessity for taking down bases (especially NE bases). Just 2 is a big help, otherwise it takes freaking forever to take down a building. You ever hire those kamikazi guys? The ones strapped with dynamite. It says they are really good for hitting buildings, but when I tried to use them they didn't blow up. They just stood there and got killed.
Yeah, Starfall is powerful, but the three normal powers the Priestess has are all pretty crappy, offense-wise. She's got the owl for scouting which rules, but the other two powers just buff up attack a little bit. Starfall's awesome power makes the hero worth it.
A week ago I saw one guy on USWest on the ladder rankings that was number 20 or so with humans. I couldn't believe it. The rest of the top slots are all undead and night elves. I can't wait for the day that the humans rule the ladder, as they rightfully should. ;)
Won another one, but the other guys teamate dumped early. Although I was on top of the leader board, I didn't play as well as I should have.
Damn it, someone bailed on me mid game...it's a bitch managing 2 races. Anyone her want to teear down the ranks with me, let me know. ArThore on the East server, on AIM I'm Scudnick2. I should be back on around midnight (Eastern time).
-dangerously close to the end of the page, so........-
*bump!*
This game is a cruel mistress! I still suck at it. I have a pretty good win/loss percentage, but when I get beat, I am fucking slapped, stabbed,, shot and stomped into the ground. Except for the one I played with Stibbons, we just got out played in that one.
I can't manage an army well enough, and I'm too damn slow. Some bastard NE player tried trapping me in my base with Protectors. He had like six of them! Punk
Behold, the Huntress rush:
http://schlep.kicks-ass.net/fag.w3g
I was browsing through the ladder and it's just amazing the number of games some of these people have played.
Precisely the reason why I only play team games with people I know.Quote:

YES!!! Just got B.net to work. My name is TaekwondoNJ on the east and west servers, and I'll probably be on east most if not all the time.
cool beans. Look me up. I'm Arthore.
I started playing on Bnet yesterday. So far I'm 1-4. :( :(
I play as Night Elves, but before you start getting on my case, I liked them before the game came out.
And Huntress rushes SUCK! I myself like to try something a little different... I played with TaekwondoNJ yesterday, we lost a team game and he beat me 1 on 1. But I'll get better, promise. :) Hope to see you guys online.
I'm a level five, currently 11-10 (I had like 9 wins in a row, heheh). I've noticed almost everytime I've lost its been due to how much my team mate sucks. Such as -leaves the game a few minutes after it starts, -just plain sucks and doesn't know what they're doing, -gets booted, -rushes with a single unit (I actually played with a guy who rushed a group of riflemen with Gryphons today... it would have been funny had I not been on his team), -and other such suckiness. Oh well, its kinda funny. When I play with someone who is good we just dominate, and when I play with someone who is bad we just lose horribley. Kinda depends on my team mate.
I just got slammed again on bnet and I can't figure out where I went wrong. I went almost totally air against Orcs...should've given me the win, but ... :(
You just summed up how just about every WC3 game ends. Whoever loses, usually gets crushed beyond anything thought possible. I've played very few games that ended close.Quote:

On the bright side, I won my last game, so now i'm 10-20. WOO! (lvl 5 btw)
*bumps thread from who knows where*
name is hayato42
i'm 5:2 level 4... i generally play as elves... msg me sometime *proceeds to add all these names to friends list*
I'm beginning to think that I'm just on battle.net to improve other peoples records.
Sons of bitches.
Wow, I put all the usernames here in my friends list, but I never see any of you guys, and I've been on pretty frequently as of late. I usually play arrange team 3v3, 2v2, or random team 4v4. 1v1's all right, but it doesn't seem like alot of the units aren't as useful 1v1. It's the arrange teams though where most the cheapest stuff shows up, especially if you go against people who have been playing together for a while.
The "in" cheap tactic right now, beside land mine evil, is in 3v3, 1 orc, and 2 night elf (my team always chooses all random, so we can't formulate strategy until match starts). The orc tower rushes and builds shamans, while both the night elf pump huntresses. Plus, everyone plays the same maps, which is sort of annoying too (if I have to do one 3v3 in Swamps of Sorrow...grr...and I used to like that map too).
Anyway, just that it was odd I never see any of you online. Maybe some other time...well, good luck!
Apokryphos, what server are you on? I've never seen you either. Almost all of us are on the East server.
Lordaeron is the West server. Most of us are on the East server Apok!Quote:
WAR.CRAFT.III - FuryFox on Lordaeron
Doh. I thought I made a mental check of that. Oh well, if it's not too laggy, maybe I'll make a east account too.
please do. I need a partner to raise my record from the bowels of hell (seriously).
I won my last 3 games in row. Unbelievable! This last one was because of my allie. He was crazy. He saved my base form being totally wiped out about 4 times (he was human). I played alright...I actually manged to kill my hero with my own units though. I, I just dont know. I clicked on nmy hero instead of the creep and they shot him down. Jesus that was bad. I saved the replay if anyone wants to see it.
...you... killed your own hero... now THIS I wanna see.
I'm in hawaii and its pretty lag free on the east server... I don't think you can be much further away than that :PQuote:

Taek...you have no idea. I wasn't paying attention or something. Half of my archers were not attacking the creep, so I highlighted them and did "a" click to attack. Somehow i clicked on my Keeper of the Grove. All of a sudden i see his health drop like a stone. I was like wtf? BAM he's dead. I couldn't believe it. My teammate goes "...you a newbie?" Holy fuck was that embarassing.
It's the last one listed.

WOW! For the love of god! I just played the most amazing WC game and WON. This is literally what WC3 is all about. there was NO rush in the beginning. We met at a creep area by accident and all hell broke lose. It went down to the end, literally. So much happened I don't know what to say. 1v1 Human vs NE, 21 minutes of fucking amazing gaming. Please download it (last one on the list)!
Ok suckahs, I'm gonna go play right now. Been meaning to get some playtime in lately and now I'm getting it.
Woo! This thread is revived again! And me and Stibbons are on a losing streak! Woo!
I'm looking foward to the next patch.
Well I just won myself a battle! 50 minutes long and a very nice fight. Even if my opponent was a bit of a noob, and didnt have any air defense, it was still fun :)
my names firstblood182
... i haven't played online yet... but i plan to sometime in the near future
... i've been trying out Starcraft on Battlenet... and getting my ass whooped...
I've been getting beaten so many damn times, I need a support group.
Sooooooooo, I'm hoping all WC3 players will converge here and swap tips. We've had quite a bit of time with the game now, so I'm sure we've all picked up some new strats and new troubles along the way. Now start sharing! I need advice!
