How do you dress?

Inspired by the facial hair thread, here's another one about style.

Not looking for pictures of you, just a description of a normal outfit.


Myself

An old skater shirt, or band shirt.
Cut-off 'shorts' that end in the middle of my shins. More often than not, of the 'Caffeine' brand. Almost all of which are earth tones.
Rivet belt I made.
Calvin Klein boxer-briefs.
Black Birkenstock boots. They only go just above my ankle, so they're not full-on boots.
About half the time I have a backwards White Sox hat on.

I just run around naked all day...

whatever T-shirt fits. I haven't bought a new shirt in years, so mainly just anime, and videogame shirts. Wear pants, always pants. I don't remember the last time I wore shorts, and even in the summer I won't relent.

I know already that how I dress is sloppy and I don't like it. But...to spend 50 bucks for some nice pants, or Mario Sunshine?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Business casual...always sporting khakis pants/shorts and a decent shirt. I am either wearing a button up short-sleeve shirt or a nice t-shirt. Shoes are a pair of Nike shox (Ken Griffey Jr.) style.

I dress like a suburban male....errr wait I guess I am a suburban male.

and I agree with ya...sporting a backwards White Sox hat is a must. I am at least wearing it 75% of life.

Band shirt
Somewhat-baggy pants (black, grey, and light and dark blue only)
Black boots
Ridiculously long wallet chain
Occasional loosely-tied tie (yeah, I dig the 'Jack Osbourne trend.' Fuckin' sue me)
Various shit around my wrists

I look like a goddamn mess, really.

Im a horrible dresser, so other people go along with me when I buy things, just to make sure I dont walk out looking like a clown.

I dunno, its just not something I particualrly care about. The only question I have is this: Is it comfy?

Hell, the shoes Im wearing now were bought five years ago. I got one pair, and after about a month I realized that they were the best fucking shoes Id ever had, so I bought a backup. Late last year was the first time I ever had to use the backup, they hold up so well. Best pair of shoes Ive ever bought, for sure. Wish I would have gotten three.

T-shirt + shorts + flipflops. Yep, I dress like it's summer almost 100% of the time (even when it's 30 friggin' below zero I'm outside with flipflops and a t-shirt - what can I say, I'm dumb). I only wear jeans if I'm going out. The more plain looking the better. I don't like flaunting brand names for companies. The majority of my shirts I've had for the last 5 years, at least. I think I have the ultimate lazy/casual look. Better that than trying to keep up with what's in style.

I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes. Almost all my shirts are 5-7 years old. The rest I buy off the clearance racks. All that Caffeine stuff only cost me like $10 for a pair of pants. It's all the stuff other people don't want. The boots normaly retail for something like $200! I found them at a Birkenstock outlet by me for $35. I agree about spending lots of money on clothes being rediculous.

The most expensive article of clothing I own is a pair of 'Fox' BMX pants, that I use when it gets really cold. Remember, I'm from Florida so 'cold' is anything below 70...

A miniskirt and incredibly tight-fitting blouse. Well, only on the weekends.

T-Shirts, mostly just plain color. Earth tones. Cotton shorts, little longer then the knee. Socks, black or white. And the same pair of shoes I have been wearing for three years. The have huge holes, and the bottoms are nearly smooth. But man are they confie, plus I like how they look. And a G-Shock watch. I made a bunch of video game related T-Shirts in a screen printing class in high school, I wear those quite often as well. I buy a new item of clothing maybe every 4 months. I go for comfort over style. And Rob I agree, Shorts and T-Shirts are a must on Winter, I mean how long are you going to be out side anyways?! If I leave a building/car in the winter its to get to a Building/Car. I am not sleeping out side or somthing, Shorts rule.

Like most things in life, I'm a lazy dresser. I have a thing for grey t-shirts, I wear shorts that fit my fat ass (right now some swimming trunks), a khaki colored hat I found and wear becuase I can never get my hair right, and some ratty sandals I've had for years that are falling apart. If I have to look nice I'll superglue the parts of the sandals that are falling off.

Well no actually in summer i mostly wear a t shirt, shorts and socks. and boxers, that is under my shorts.... :confused: in winter i wear mostly jeans and sweater.

I'm with you on the thrift shops, salvation army and goodwill are great. Out at school there is a Goodwill distribution center and the store there is rediculously huge and full of great stuff. I have to admit though, as much as i am against mall chains i have to buy my jeans at structure. I am freakishly skinny and tall, and it's hard to find pants otherwise!

most of the clothes thay i buy come from the gap, old navy or urban outfitters. i'm kinda casual. usually i wear jeans or khakis, sometimes i wear tennis shoes, or dress shoes.....not too dressy.....almost like...fancy tennis shoes i guess. durning the summer i wear short sleve polo shirts or button up dress shirts or plain t-shirts. i used to wear t-shirts with stuff on 'em like band names or sumthin' else, but now i just wear plain colored t-shirts....nuthin' too fancy though....but also nuthin' too crapy either....i'm always woried about runnin' into girls an' lookin' halfway decent. oh yeah, i also usually wear shades of blue, grey and black. i have a few shirts that are red, yellow, orange or whatever but it's just to complement all the blue and other dark colors i wear. i also love denim.

I wear Kakai(sp?) pants and a black polo/button up shirt to work. When I come home from work I change into a pair of shorts and one of my millions of free gaming t-shirts. On the extremely rare occasions where I have a day off, or I go out I wear Jeans and a T-shirt. Usually from K-mart or something like that. In the winter I wear a leather jacket. I wore black chuck taylor high tops up until 3 years ago, and I switched to Vans classic high tops. Easier to find, and better durabliity.

Well, since Gongos brought it up: I have 17 tattoos, 2 scarifications, and 3 piercings; both ears, and my labret.

Up until a few months ago, I had far too much metal in my face and body...

eh i wear t-shirt shorts and sandels.

Usually it is a T-Shirt and jeans (jean shorts this summer, since it's so damn hot and humid here).

My favorite T-Shirts include ones by Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein (favorite jeans also), some Britney Spears concert ones, and a Sengoku 3 one (this one is white with a small SNK logo on front and a nice group shot of the Sengoku 3 characters on the back).

Lately my choice of shoes has been Nike or Reebok.

I wear a pendant by Clarus called a QLink that they say provides protection from electromagnetic fields.

Piercings, scarifications, or tats... no way. :eek:

Eh hem... my lack of style includes good old standard Vans for shoes (3 1/2 years old, been to two E3s they have), whatever band/game T-shirt I can find with a unbuttoned button-up shirt on the outside. Pants range from shorts, jeans and (cringe now) ripped jeans. Go ahead and laugh, I do. I only wear them on the weekends.

And yes, I often look like a hobo.

Well, I tend only to shop at the Gap, A&F, American Eagle, etc...but mostly because that's where my girlfriend shops, and that's the only time I do it. Meier and Frank isn't too bad either.

I usually only wear long sleeve shirts, grey or navy blue, and always push the sleeves up, never with logos.. Now however, I'm starting to wear more sleeveless stuff, since global warming has made our Oregon weather quite muggy. Khaki shorts or baggy blue jeans, and a long-ass brown belt, that's way too big for me, and has 2-3 ft excess hanging down.

On workout days, it's for some odd reason Adidas shorts and muscle shirts, or my Adidas Tae Kwon Do pants, which are mighty comfy.

I have a variety of shoes, that go with certain color schemes better (I have my earthtones, khaki and black, or grey and blue). Default shoes right now in the heat are some Romanesque Skethcher Sandals. Always wore a chain or bead necklace until my hair started getting caught in them, so now that's optional.

Oh yeah, I forgot about headwear...I have a whole bunch of different bandannas (for different color schemes again). I always put my hair through the back of the tie in a big bushy ponytail, or tie it off in little ponytails that poke through the gaps (hey, if girls can have guy haircuts, then guys can have girls'). I always pull some of my bangs from underneath in front of my eyes, to look all cool and anime-ish (doubt it works...). That, or a black adidas cap. If I don't wear anything, my hair just gets in my face and looks messy.

No tattoos or piercing, but I have scars all over my arms from when I was a really depressed and troubled teenager.

as for shoes, use to be an nike air maxx nut, now I just go for adidas and dress shoes.

Well, I dress in pretty plain nice clothes.

I have the best pair of shorts ever made. They are A&F (actually a pretty unknown brand down here), and are navy blue with cream stripes down the side, and they're made out of weird material thats water proof and crease proof. They come with mesh undies built in, and it has large pockets. They are the most comfortable shorts in the world, and I where them everywhere. I where them to bed as PJ's, To school (They pass as uniform! :D ), at home, and in the pool. I truly love them!

I want more of them so I have a set for when they're in the wash.

On the average... pants of the raver variety. I'm not much of a raver in the farthest stretch of the imagination, but some of these Kikwear pants and jeans are just oo damn comfy. Plus I have big ass feet, so the large ankles make my feet look smaller. Size 13 if anyone wants to know. Its not too big, but when you have skinny ass chicken legs such as mine, you look a bit like a clown when wearing shorts.

Shirts are almost always long sleeve. Bannana Republic and Kenneth Cole. They both have shirts that are long sleeve, comfy and plain. And I usually can find them on clearance.

Boxers. Always Boxers.

Long black sox, cotton.

Belt, a seat belt from a GM car.

Shoes, usually my black etnies low cut.

Nail polish. Currently silver, with blue on one finger.

I guess that about it. I do stray from that basic formula, but thats par for the course.

Z-roe

Besides the Gap, I have never been in a Banana Republic, J Crew, or similar store, except for the time I walked into a Structure in the mall. I am not up on what kind of merchandise they sell, and I am certainly not conscious of what the differences between them are.

I wear 100%-cotton, long-sleeved shirts with a straight or spread collar in one of the following colors (never, ever white): light green, light brown, gray, pink/lilac, yellow, and, sometimes, blue. I wear a matching necktie with a modern conservative pattern of no more than three colors. I do not wear loud or funny ties (e.g., chili peppers, comic book characters), but I do have some brightly colored ties that are monochrome or have small patterns.

My pants are gray, blue, brown, or green, with a dress-cut, pleated front, and cuffs. With my gray or blue slacks, I wear a black shoe/belt combo. With brown or green pants, I wear brown shoes and a brown belt.

I do not change out of my clothes until I go to bed, but I do dress a bit more casually on the weekends, only to avoid conversations about why I am wearing a tie.

I do not wear T-shirts with logos. I do not own shorts or sneakers. Yes, I wore dressy shoes to E3.

I do not recommend my mode of dress to those who hate ironing and polishing - unless you have a valet.

Here's what I'm wearing right now:
- T-shirt (GI Joe Cobra logo)
- Tan long-sleeve button up shirt
- Cutoff-at-the-shin khaki cargo 'shants'
- One black bracelet on left wrist; three brown bracelets on right wrist
Footwear: Either black Vans with floppy tongues, or brown Rockport boots.

That's basically the style I usually wear.
I used to wear hats all the time when I was younger. Maybe I'll start again if I can find an old school Detroit Tigers 'gothic D' logo hat.

Well, since it's summer, I like Lacoste polos. I wear those, a lot. I have a few good Paul Stuart shirts that are similar, but slightly different, zip-up fronts, things like that, and they're usually made out of better summer materials like sea island cotton. I've got a good linen button-down, some other sea island button-downs, mostly Paul Stuart.

Almost always khakis, Bills Khakis (these are so much better than the average khaki you can get, and they're not that much more expensive, really, try a pair, if you can). As far as trousers go, it's a mix of Oxxford and Paul Stuart, navy tropical wool. Shorts, too, are good, but it's not often hot enough to merit wearing them.

The shirts get tucked in. I hate socks. I circulate wearing a pair of black driving shoes and a pair of white driving shoes (the whites I wear a little less often), with rubber soles, from Tod's. Hrm. I've got some clothes that I like to wear because they're funny, at times, like a belt with ducks on it or these brick red/salmon colored canvas pants.

The problem with dressing like this, I dunno, high-end preppy (?), is that I feel like sometimes I make my friends uncomfortable, since we never look like we're going to the same place. But, eh, unavoidable.

If I've actually got business to do in town, I'll throw on a suit, but, it's a pain in the ass, you know. I give the valet summers off, and all the ironing and polishing is such a bother.

I have many Shawn Kemp(Sonics only) and Gary Payton Jerseys which I wear every single day(ask Master). I sometimes wear shorts but usually some sort of cargo pants with my Nike flipflops. I fucking hate shoes and only wear them when it rains. You might catch me with a T-shirt on that relates to one of my friends' businesses or bands over my Kemp jersey. I was recently seen spending 3 dollars on some Abercrombie cargo pants. Other than finding new kickass Payton or Kemp jerseys that I don't have I refuse to spend money on clothes. I'll have to break down when the rain hits for real because my Nike boots just expired after four years of service. I've been half covered in tattoos since '93 but I find piercings to be sort of nasty(no offense to those that have them) so I only have my ears pierced one hole on each lobe with tiny 24k hoops which have been in place for almost ten years. My look has not changed significantly since I started being fascinated by the Seattle Supersonics in about 1995. I doubt it will change significantly ever again since everything works and is most definitely "me". OH! and Ruhztee reminded me that before I cut my hair off I would wear a Detroit hat every day. Because it has a big capital D on it and I am of course, Big Dee. :)

I'll have someone photograph me right now and post it up since I am in the traditional green Kemp jersey and geen cargos.

Here in sunny Tucson, AZ, it's all about comfort. When I'm not on duty (i.e. working) I wear jeans, cargo pants, guayaberas, Hawaiian shirts, and other loose-fitting button-down T-shirts. I never wear shorts, and usually wear sandals during summer.

Occasionally I throw an amusingly-sloganed or logoed T-shirt into the mix, like a Decepticons shirt or Jenny Holzer shirt. My favorite T-shirt of all time is a dark blue number with the word "Chutzpah" emblazeoned on it. I've had it since the sixth grade, when a couple friends and I started a Dixieland jazz band to play at Jewish rest homes. The name of our band was "Chutzpah" (I chose the name), and we all wore matching shirts. Ah, those were the days.

Ah, I have set outfid 'modes' that never change- regardless of season.

Work- strictly business casual or more depending on who I have meetings with that day (deans= formal; professors= casual)

At home- baggy pants, large silk or satin shirt

Out-and-about- jeans, t-shirt (black only, and I get 'em for under $3 at the Rag shop)

training/workout- I dress like Vegeta: Blue Gi trousers (not spandex), with a tight blue muscle shirt. If only I was short with a receding hairling, I would be exactly like Vegeat :(

SInce I work at Old Navy and I'm a cheap ass, most of my clothes come from there. Yo can't beat 20% and 40% your clothes. I like my pants baggy, and most of the time I wear button up shirts, although I still have some name brand clothes from my high school days.

I wear shorts or pants. Once in a blue moon I'll wear a skirt.. but I hate shaving my legs. Give me a nice shirt somewhat clean pants and some colorful socks and I'm happy. my shoeslace's say "bullshit" and I like my hoodies. I wish I had fashion taste... but I really dont care. Usually I sleep in my clothes anyway. (Fuck pjs!)
...layers are good but I live in seattle right now. yah. Flanels=not cool anymore.

I don't, pretty much.

I do my best to dress as casually and comfortably as possible. I'd never wear anything that "looked good" if it was uncomfortable and vice versa. This includes:

-Loose fitting shirts for maximum circulation
-Wide legged pants or shorts with a belt so they stay up there
-Boxers, always boxers
-I like to wear women's socks when I can, laugh if you will but they are so fucking comfortable I don't care
-Converse All-Stars, nothing is quite as comfortable on the foot as a flat-soled glorified canvas sock, but I'll also wear DVS, as they make some of the most comfrtable skate shoes I can find

i like jeans from the gap. standard fit and vintage cut for me mostly. i love denim as well.....have i said that already? i wear levi's sometimes but it's hard to find ones that i like to wear often.

I'm the preppy one =P I dress in Diesel jeans (if you live in tri-state area, you know what they are. Not baggy, just enough to not be tight, and about 200 bucks) And in Italian brand shirts (I've got everything from Armani to Versace and Valentino, of coarse I also have some DKNY and Diesel). Of coarse this is only when I go out, which isn't often. So telling from that, you can tell I'm one preppy fucker. lol

There's a Lacoste store in NYC, I usually pick a couple up when I'm in the city.

Diesel makes good jeans, but I don't think I'd call them preppy.

You mean there are multiple definitions of "preppy"? I guess, but, I dunno, what about Diesel Jeans and Versace shirts makes you think back to prep school (preppy)? To me, that word involves things like blazers and Top-siders, school ties, stuff like that.

Some people use it for stuff like Abercrombie and Fitch, which doesn't make a bit of sense, unless you want "preppy" to mean "not slovenly" or "more than inexpensive".

Well I guess you couldn't consider it fully preppy, but it's not far from it. Oh, and when I go to school, that's grade A preppiness. With my grey pants (or khakis in summer), my dress shirt and tie with sweater (in winter) or gold shirt (in summer) lol. Got to love Catholic School. But most brands that are expensive like the ones I said usually make clothes that aren't far from preppy. I try to stay clear of dressing like people influenced by their music...

Hope that warrants my preppiness.

I just wear what I feel is comfortable. jeans, different t-shirts (button down, designer type, etc.) and occassionally khakis to mix and match with my Nike ACG and Presto sneakers.

Stone: I wanna shop for some stuff at that store eventually, Old Navy is nice and I have a few things from there, but I'd like to branch out and get some clothes from other areas.

Bahn - that's cool, yeah. The nice thing about people finding out about Lacoste again is that Lacoste makes genuinely good clothes - Rene Lacoste was the one that started making the shirt in the first place, and the quality is a lot higher, I think, than Ralph Lauren's knit polos.

I should note that I picked the last up at a thrift store and have no idea where WJLF operates from, but the shirt has the greatest-looking illustration of a TV; it's almost Burton-esque.
-shorts (in summer). Khaki or olive cargo-style. A little bit past the knee.
-pants. Khaki cargo or just plain denim jeans. A little baggy, but not too much.
-boxers. Usually just plaid.
-socks. Regular white socks.
-shoes. Currently, I have two pairs; brown-khaki-ish Vans and dark blue Nikes, which I only wear running, which isn't often. I was eyeing some black ones with flames on them, I may pick those up soon.
-hat. I only wear one hat; a navy blue Toonami hat, from when Toonami first started. Front has an awesome design with the floating alien-robot guy that was their first mascot, back has a Cartoon Network logo. It's the only hat that looks good on me, I guess I've had it for about 5 years by now.
-sunglasses. Orange lenses w/ silver frames. Kinda Trigun-esque, but not really.

Ahh, definitely, Lacoste is about as prep as clothing gets. I just don't like this new broad definition of prep.

I don't really wear "preppy" clothes, but why is wearing any specific type of clothes seen as a bad thing?
