When I said "our purpose" I meant the purpose of Christians, as they are God's elect. Since I am a member of that group, "our" was the correct pronoun to use in that situation...geeze! I just can't win. ;)
And cut me a break Rezo! We've had our (meaning you and me... :p ) go at this. I garauntee it'll end up in the same place as last time...though as I remember it, Gongos did most of the talking.
Regarding the God created use all in his image thing.. I have formed a personal theory about this. I think that we, as humans, are created in the image of God, and have the potential to, ourselves, become alike with God (assuming God in the human state). However, I believe that this potential is all in our brain capacity, which God uses 100% to do as he pleases and live for eternity, but we use 5% and live short lifetimes and cannot do much..
And also, I see all this Bible talk going around, you can't take the Bible as serious as you would like, because more probable than not, alot of the Bible is either altered or made up through the years.
I am a Catholic, however that doesn't mean I have to believe in all that I am told. Take the 3rd Commandment, for example, I don't believe in it, but rather worship on one's own time. Also, I don't believe in alot of stuff taught in the Bible and other places, including God creating all life. I think God created the first galaxy, and the first life form, thus forming the basis of all evolution, on the contrary to what most Christains following the Bible believe. From this first galaxy, we had many more come from it's energy, with it being almost limitless, and from that life form, organisms progressed in an evolution chain, until we came to the human state.

What I'd like to say about my belief in the Bible is that is doesn't go from Bible to Captain Vegetable to Faith. It goes from God the Father, to Caotain Vegetable, to Faith, to the Bible.
I don't belive what the Bible says simply because it's written there. I believe it because God has revieled it to be the truth to me. There's a huge difference in arbitrarily believing a old book's words, and believing the truth of our Creater, which happens to be recorded in book form. ;)

You see the difference? Jesus did not tell us "Go into all the world and beat them over the head with this doctrine until they concede it is the truth." Sadly too many Christians do just that and end up pushing people even further away from God.

I can preach a nine hour sermon from the hilltops till I'm blue in the face, but if at the end of the day you choose not to heed my words, what more am I supposed to do? Do I beg and whine, clinging to your leg, shouting "BUT YOU'VE JUST GOTTA BEELEEEEIVE!!!!"? Do I rise up and bash you over the head with my Bible screaming "REPENT YOU HEATHEN!!! REPENT!!!"?

For you o receive the truth of the gospel from God through me as a Christian you must first be possessed of a sincere and earnest thirst for knowledge about spiritual matters anyways. Not a cup full of your own ideas, theories, and personal predjudices, but an empty vessel eager to receive knowledge.
Secondly you must be convinced in your own mind that anything I have to say is worth hearing. Nothing I can say or do will convince you of anything, I am only a man. Only God can impress upon you the idea that I might know what I'm talking about, so only God can draw you to Him. I am nothing but one of His many tools, it is He who authors and engineers the salvation of men. So if you've got a problem with they way He runs things take it up with Him, I've done my part.
Ok Master of 7s, ill give you that. I'll fold on that one about sexuality and the body. But I think you might be taking the power to command angels a little lightly. Driving a car does not = commanding angels.
Also, Captain Vegetable, yeah its not your job to convince non believers, but it would be a immoral act to not TRY to. If you really believe God is wonderful and your relationship with him is the best thing in life, why would you not TRY to share that with other people? How can you say you are trying to show good will to your fellow man when you don't try to share the greatest thing known with others?

You know I love reveluations to. They are some great stuff. They come in so many great sizes and shapes, flavors and colors. One man will get a revaluation and think that Black people should be enslaved in the name of the lord, and others will get one and think that a big huge plain has to be stuck into a very important building, maybe even two buildings. Who needs the bible when you can have a revelation, I mean they all have to come from God don't they? The bible may say "for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" but you know what? You can have a wonderful revelation to negate that. Heck lets all throw our Bibles away, we don't need them God's already made up his mind.Quote:

Anyway, Master of 7's explained how we understand God pretty well...just cuz we didn't see the tree fall, doesn't mean it never fell and made a sound. God's evidence can be seen in the world around us...just cuz we didn't see him make it doesn't mean he didn't make it. And really, who has disproved God by proving the Big Bang?
And organized religion is fine as long as you follow God's word: love everyone, and through your witness show God is real.

Remember how excited you were when you got your first got your license? It was a rush like no other right? Man you ran around telling everybody! Then you got your own car! WHOO NELLY!!!
Well after about 10 years or so you take it for granted. Never really thinking much of it till something occurs that reminds you "Hey, this is a privelege, not a right bub." I guess I kinda meant in that respect.
My faith is catholic, I went to catholic middle school and I am going to a catholic church, so I know a little about what I'm talking about.
My theory is that this place is hell, right here and when we die we all go to the same place (Heaven). If we do something bad here, we will pay for it later in life, (Karma) I think it's called.
