Humanity isn't going to destroy itself before 2019, you asses. Thats a very bleak way of thinking. The only way we're going to destroy ourselves is by depletion of natural resources, and by the time that happens we will have probably found ways to deal with it.
Step 1: Get nuclear warhead.
Step 2: Place on rocket.
Step 3: Fire at asteroid.
Step 4: Earth saved, enjoy the fireworks.
