Splatterhouse 3

I'm curious of some people's opinions of this game. Personally, I really liked it for it's mindless beat'em up action and it's gortesque monster/room designs. I never got around into trying the first or the second one and I'm curious why it's considered a letdown. Comments?

I thought Splatterhouse 3 was awesome. It was the first game in the series I played. And the only reason I even bothered to try it was because Gamepro had given the game a perfect score. So yeah, I rented it, took it to my friend's house and we stayed up all night playing it. We really got into it because it was so gross and creepy.

Recently I tried part 2 and I thought it was okay. Not as smooth or fast paced as the 3rd one. I haven't tried the first one, but I would like to.

The first and third parts of Splatterhouse were the best, that big-ass demonic teddy bear you find in your son's bedroom still gives me nightmares. Lord, that thing was freaky... :eek:

I LOVED that boss. I loved the music that was playing when you were fighting it, too. It starts off with a somber musicbox then goes into a psychotic heartbursting theme. The worm boss, the lip-smacking sloths, and the monsters who loose their heads all gave me the creeps for weeks on end.

That teddy bear was fucking awesome.

I love Splatterhouse 3.

There is an uncanny spookiness to the atmosphere of Splatterhouse 3 and it's two predecessors. This series played like traditional beat-em-ups, but in retrospect can also be termed survival horror. The action was relentless (if somewhat repetetive), there were copious amounts of gore and broken body parts, and the brilliant cut-scenes helped set the tone.

Splatterhouse 3 is one of the few beat em-ups I play over and over. The cut scenes were great and yeah, the atmosphere was top notch. Only problem was the insane cheapiness of the game in later levels, but that can be overlooked.

Part two is my favorite, the boss fight with the possessed garden tools and the skinned hanging creatures was very freaky, especially when you beat the thing. The opening cut scene to Splatterhouse 2 pumps me up like no other game. "We can save her Rick"

I enjoy all three but I have to say that Part 3 in particular was more grim. It seemed like no matter what I did Jennifer and that kid would always die or something.

Truly a classic

Well, I loved parts 2 and 3. Never had a chance to play part 1 though :(

Part 2 was awesome, put on the killer mask, and go smack some demons with clubs and other weapons. Bosses were cool, especially above mentioned fight in the tool shed covered in BLOOD. Freaky :)

I loved part 3 as well, even more creeper atmoshere, tought monsters, very cool bosses(Teddy Bear idea, was later on copied in Hunter the Reckoning :), and Worm Boss was weird). Fun beat them up action, with horror theme. One of the Genesis best action series.

Namco, WE NEED new splatter house game. !!!! Be it on Cube or PS2 or Xbox, but make it. I mean when Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden and Contra are getting sequels, we need one for this horror classic as well.
