Apparently, my paperwork wasn't in order by the deadline, so $8000 in scholarship money that was earmarked for me is gone.
If anyone wants to murder me, now would be a good time.

I know how you feel. I just lost out on some grant money because my financial aid was held up for a few weeks due to an incomplete form.
Money's tight all around this year.
Whoo....
That sucks.
Scratch that, that really fucking sucks.
I get pissy when I lose a pack of smokes or a lighter.
I'm sorry, but what, exactly, goes through these FA people's heads?
"Well, that line is blank, so he must not want that $8000. Next!"
Hey, Thats sucks man :( Sorry to hear that.
:( I'm really sorry that that happend.
ouch man sorry
dang, I know how that is. All my grant money was pulled for this school year, so all I have are loans to work with.
I thought I had lost my ~$11,000 scholarship earlier this year. Fell into a bit of depression then. Now I'm back to taking it for granted.
Diggity-damn.
If it makes you feel any better, I've lost out on my grandparents paying for my entire way through college because I'm too damn stubborn.
damn bro. really sorry to hear that (guess that's why you're not picking up the phone) :(
You lost your scholorship, I lost my job.
We should go out drinking.
I wanna go out drinking too! A few weeks ago I lost my H.S. scholorship (I go to private school) which was $5,500 a year (I had 3 years left) (full scholorship) So I had $16,500 taken away. Lol, it's all because of fucking games. If I hadn't had games and studyign instead, I would have gotten then 94 average I needed to keep my scholorship.
man, thats terrible...
Man, that sucks...I'm in college right now and know how damn expensive it is...
Ahaha, all of us lost scholorship money. We are all so pathetic. lol,
Man, sorry for you guys.
Note to self, find really rich, old relative.
On a totally unrelated matter, I'm gonna go find me some nice firearms...
Damn, burg, that is fucking terrible...
My brother's financial aid form got accidentally mailed to us at our family business instead of to him in NY and it got lost in the shuffle. He lost $5000 in financial aid as a result.
Thread gets yet even sadder :(
Ahh, praise be for schools with solely need-based financial aid. That sucks, though, Burgundy - can you get the loans necessary to compensate for the loss?
Sleeve - I'm told I'm near the top of the line if any money falls back into the pot because of nonattendance, but the market's real tight this year, and the office doesn't anticipate much on that front. Worse comes to worst, I'm seriously going to skimp on future alumni contributions.
Stone - Thankfully, I think I can cover the difference with loans.
Still, it sucks. *cries some more*
my parents are paying for my brother in college with the help of financial aid... so we are tight on money... and over the past 2 months we have had a car break down... TV broke... Lawnmower broke down... Aunt died... Lawnmower broke down again... another car break down... and last night our big assed computer Monitor blew up...
... life sucks doesn't it?
I wish I could say something to cheer you up man.
I hope you feel better.
You didn't lose a scholarship, you gained a life of working at McDonalds. Congrats!

Yep, this sort of stuff truly does suck. People that do this sort of stuff for a living could care less about you and me. I missed out on going to state on the technicality of missing the deadline by a month. The letter was a line of shit to, basically said im great, and im smart but they can't take me purely based on that technicality. That's such bullshit to, what sane person will not take money? They could have let me sat in class in a lawn chair but no, stupid technicality of a date on a letter. They said I was so great they would take me for summer school. They just rubbed it in my face even more with that.
Directly in regard to the thread being about losing scholarships, I got a 1600$ scholarship that I have no idea how it's going to go. It's still in the void of the system because the schools budget is locked up. It was the only one I could get to, because I wasn't the schools best student and my dad's a Dr and sense I'm the only child going to college, the government doesn't see there being a need for it.
While im talking about how people suck in the school system for getting people on technicalities, I almost didn't get to go to my second choice college because they didn't inform me they hadn't gotten my ACT score. I had assumed it was in my school transcript. Nope, wasn't, but they didn't feel it was their job to tell me this. No letter telling me I was accepted or declined, just me floating in limbo until I finally called them and asked them if my letter got lost in the mail. By this time it was really close to registration and I had to pay some ridiculous shipping charge to get the school the ACT score in time. I could continue to go on about how they sucked even more about how little they had done for me when I went to orientation, or even how orientation wasn't really orientation but registration day. I could, but I won't. No real reason to, you all have some idea, just more of the US's wonderful socialist school system at work, passing the buck on to the students paying them.
I find it rather strange that the US doesn't have a national university.
Freeloaders.
