FWIW enix america never announced SO3 for release in US in the timeframe that EB suggested. that was just weirdness. i went to enix last year when i was working with gamers.com and confirmed it -- the rep then said it would be fall.
now that squenix is afoot, i can see it either getting pushed to before or after FFX-2, but certainly not ignored because imo it has a pretty large sales potential and square EA has proven many times that if they are intelligent about one thing, it's marketing. ok, and localizations -- that's two. so my bet is that we get this with a great localization in a reasonable timeframe with cool marketing and it sells very well.
god, this looks so goddamn good. i'm having a devil of a time not importing it ... but i don't import RPGs that are coming out here. here's to hoping i can cancel my SMT3 preorder (i probably won't even if i can. i am such a slut for atlus R&D1.)
Only about a week to go before this comes out, I'm not picking it up but anyone who is please be kind enough to post some impressions :)

yeah, this game definitely has that "aura" around it that screams greatness. i will be let down if it's not.. but i am confident it will be. i can't explain. i mean, the graphics are just amazing -- that's obvious. valkyrie profile was great. the story sounds interesting. it just seems like it's destined to rock.
i had a friend at enix USA (who is now jobless cos of the merger) who kept feeding my expectations for the game. he even demoed it for me at last e3 briefly, behind closed doors, where it looked really stunning. i am so ready for this one. mmmmmm.
and i hope squenix gives it the push it deserves in US. but they're smart, so i am not so worried.
